Do you think Ghana deserves the ilks of corrupt Atuguba. If Atuguba is honest and sincere about the progress of Ghana, why didn't he recuse himself from sitting on the 2012 election case, when it became evident his nephew is the Executive Secretary of the sitting President?

Boateng could have held his comments on the trial after all his side won, but the abysmal performance of the judges and for Ghana's sake, has has come out with the truth. These judges proofed to the whole world that they are very weak when it comes to constitutional law. Some of them should have reclused or withdrawn themselves voluntarily (especially Atuguba for party of conflict) but for seeking their own personal interest, chose to participate, collect bribes, and disgraced as well as messed up themselves and the nation as a whole. It is realistically a point worth considering that our law makers, lawyers, judges etc should show great interest to capture the knowledge of the electoral process, since in honest terms could help speed up a case concerning electoral issues just like the petition case we experienced.

Usually that makes them more knowledgeable and more skilled; hence improves their performance - more productive and efficient thus more effective.

There are courts specialising in handling cases involving crimes, family, or that are constitutional in nature.

the Medical field has individuals specialising in Ear, Nose & Throat(related organs); women issues = gynaes or women and birth = obstetrician-gynaecologists; cardiologist, anaesthetist, physiologists etc etc and so on for all fields of endeavour.

The court case dragged on for some 9 months... Yaw Gyan says some of the questions posed by the Justices smacked off ignorance of electoral processes and procedure and therefore a little familiarity(I'd say advanced knowledge)with (Ghana's)electoral laws etc will serve to reduce any appearances of bias, poor interpretation of these laws.

Some of our Justices specialising in that area in addition to general legal knowledge and court procedure is actually a very good suggestion.

You might not like Yaw Boateng Gyan and what he stands for; however, think through what he said particularly against the backdrop of the proceedings at the electoral petition and congratulate him for his idea.

You lose nothing for acknowledging the truth/validity of what he suggests even if you belong to an opposing party.

I am failing to appreciate your point. You are arguing in support of my point and not Yaw Boateng Gyan's. As you point out, there are specialist courts but even they are not specialists in the processes related to the cases they judge. A commercial lawyer is a specialist in Commercial LAW not commerce. A medical lawyer is a specialist in Medical LAW and not medicine. To use your example, an EAR NOSe and Throat specialist is a medical practitioner and not a lawyer. That is why expert witnesses are called upon to provide specialist evidence. They called Afari Djan precisely for that reason.In the case of Dr Murray in the Michael Jackson death trial, they called in medical experts not experts in medical law. In fact, the prosecution and defence did not have to be medical lawyers. You don't expect lawyers to be masters in all fields involving cases they adjudge. The clue is in their title; 'Judge'.

Atuguba and Co. got themselves tangled because they thought such a thing will never happen in Ghana and so they believed it was not so important to learn anything about it. Supreme Court judges are not supposed to be specialists but they are people with deep knowledge of the law and so when they are moved to such positions, they must sort out the most important laws of the land for studies. Usually that makes them more knowledgeable and more skilled; hence improves their performance - more productive and efficient thus more effective.

There are courts specialising in handling cases involving crimes, family, or that are constitutional in nature.

the Medical field has individuals specialising in Ear, Nose & Throat(related organs); women issues = gynaes or women and birth = obstetrician-gynaecologists; cardiologist, anaesthetist, physiologists etc etc and so on for all fields of endeavour.

The court case dragged on for some 9 months... Yaw Gyan says some of the questions posed by the Justices smacked off ignorance of electoral processes and procedure and therefore a little familiarity(I'd say advanced knowledge)with (Ghana's)electoral laws etc will serve to reduce any appearances of bias, poor interpretation of these laws.

Some of our Justices specialising in that area in addition to general legal knowledge and court procedure is actually a very good suggestion.

You might not like Yaw Boateng Gyan and what he stands for; however, think through what he said particularly against the backdrop of the proceedings at the electoral petition and congratulate him for his idea.

You lose nothing for acknowledging the truth/validity of what he suggests even if you belong to an opposing party.

The cow is forgetting the electrol Laws are written by the judges. Stupid people with small drink in them talks so stupidily as if NDC members were drank electing him as their organiser.
The stupid useless Gyan at the EC is the one plus all the electoral commission who need to be sacked for misleading the supreme court. What can the supreme court do when it was the very supreme court who swore John Mahama by mistake with information from Gyan and the EC.
Any education should go to the EC and its staff who fill ballot boxes in favour of NDC. Over voting can never be a mistake, we call the stealing and it was NDC with the help of EC not the supreme court.
Supreme Court can never trust the EC to make anybody a president till all results are verified two three times. The trust Gyan and Gyan failed them.
The supreme court can never change what Georgina Wood had already decided. She is the chief justice and decided John Mahama was the president. Who is any judge to over turn her decision. Nobody can ever change our chief justice decision in the world let alone Atuguba and his judges.
It was the fault of EC not the judges not NPP or NDC for the petition.

If there's anyone in the Supreme Court who needs education, then it's Justice Atuguba. The man has caused people---most Ghanaians---to lose hope and respect in the judiciary. It's a sad thing to note! He caused the whole nation and the world to raise eyebrows with that bogus verdict. He had pretended to be honest and straight, esp. when he started issuing warnings and jailing others; it was all false pretense. John Mahama cleverly appointed his nephew as his personal secretary at he presidency so that the two could communicate his instructions and control. This is the kind of Ghana we find ourselves in with hypocrites pretending to be honest, some pretending to be followers of Christ. It's a serious problem.

I just like many Ghanaians, sincerely believe that there ought to be electoral reforms just as there should be education on elections among the judiciary. There's a great deal of issues to be hammered out concerning our Electoral Commission and our electoral system in general.

While everyone is asking for reforms, perhaps NDC's scribe, Asiedu Nketia disagrees! He probably think we should keep things as they are, or maybe that could help NDC continue with their cheating schemes during elections. But one thing remains true; to challenge the status quo, is the essence of progress. We cannot hope to eliminate election fraud when the system is full of loop-holes, like pink sheet issues, double registration etc. There must be reforms and education now! In 2016 Ghana cannot afford to invest millions of tax-payers money with questionable results. No-way!!!

Basically, Ghana has a very poor start as a republic,creating our political rivals as personal enemies by killing,torturing,lynching, murdering,imprisoning,humiliating and exiling all the nations pinioned doctorates and innocent citizens.And introduced one party state. This attitude spread quickly throughout the continent of Africa creating tremendous political damage not only in Ghana but the entire continent. Ghanaians both home and abroad think attaining their worth is ultimately joining the government. Ghana at the moment is heading into a serious crisis not only political but also the tribal sequoia which NDC has planted is the major contribution to the insults and defamation.

Yaw,i beg to differ.You mean to tell ghanaians that our learned friends did not understand an elementary electoral process which is at the finger tips of citizens who have not had the benefit of education?If your conclusion is not erroneous and a reflection of dishonesty and sycophancy ,then they do not need to be justices of our highest court.Ghana needs brilliant,courageous,honest and selfless justices who will discharge their functions with exceeding integrity and buttress the independence of the judiciary guaranteed by the 1992 constitution.There are educational videos at the website of the commission in plain and sign languages.It is,therefore,inexcusable for them to be ignorant of the electoral process as you are trying to portray.Especially not when,by virtue of their ages,they have personally participated,witnessed and survived many elections.To suggest that is laughable and ridiculous.From my point of view,they did not have an insurmountable task.On the strength of Article 51 of the 1992 Constitution,the Electoral Commission came up with the laudable idea of bio-metric verification(probably to ensure elections devoid of impersonation, improve accuracy and inspire confidence in the electoral process and the outcome.One of the videos says that:NO BIO-METRIC VERIFICATION,NO VOTING!This is crystal clear and does not lend itself to interpretation or misinterpretation,for that matter.So those votes which were not bio-metrically verified should have been rejected.Rejecting those bio-metrically deficient votes would not have amounted to disenfranchising the voters, because the right to vote comes with the responsibility to follow the voting procedure(they are inseparable).So this line of argument put up by a section of the ghanaian Press was hallow.It is an open secret that Akuffo-Addo was elected by majority of ghanaians.Mahama has been accepted as president because we don't want our home-sweet-home to be disintegrated into bits and pieces(we have not forgotten about La Cote d'ivoire,Liberia and Nigeria).You had the audacity to outdoor your infantile logic on national radio in order to sing false praises to John Mahama and justify the injustice done to Akuffo-Addo and ghanaians so you will earn your daily bread.You are all liars.You don't care about us.Your ultimate goal is to amass wealth illegally,at our expense.Vicki Hammah is just a scapegoat and a victim of naivety.She epitomizes the mentality of all of you .Do not insult our intelligence as ghanaians.Yaw,this is not a child's play.Majority of ghanaians are going to bed on empty stomach.The kids are failing the BECE and SHS examinations,jeopardizing their future.Out of frustration,some of them are going to blame society and turn to armed robbery and prostitution and spread havoc in Ghana.If you don't want us to throw dirt at you,then be honest and sensible about your opinions on national issues.Ghana is bigger than the NDC or the NPP and any political party.Our collective interests as ghanaians are paramount and supersede the parochial manifestos of any political organization.The decision is an act of cowardice,shameful and unfortunate.We need courageous justices like Justice Abban of blessed memory.Posterity will never forgive them for this injustice.If you have our collective interest at heart,vow to call a spade a spade,even at gun point, and admonish them to do likewise.We thank God for the prevailing peace.Long live the peace,long Live Ghana!

Let's hope political bigwigs like the NDC chairperson and Gen Secretary, NPP Gen Secretary, and NPP stalwart Ken Agyapong and the former President, Jerry John Rawlings will chart a peaceful course in our political discourse from 2014.

On the merit of the claims itself I wonder if the Judges are blank regarding our electoral laws since the latter can't escape the course of their profession at that level. But granted it's true then what a shameful indictment that is! But better late than never as it's extremely wise and important to prevent any avoidable human error or inaction in the run-up, during and post 2016 election.

Wofa Yaw, should conclude his call to the Judges withh a clarion call for electoral reforms before 2016 as well!
