I appreciate that the couple may not speak the Russian language but if that is the case, then, they should have insisted on translation of the document they signed into English. I also doubt that in this day and age, the Russian authorities will take instructions from the President of Ghana to have Ghanaian citizens resident in Russia jailed. Did the Consular Officer say this to the Russian Judge in Russian or English?

The story is strange and there must be more to it than what is reported.

And much as I agree that certain details of the report sound questionable I also believe there's something sinister about the events leading to and after their incarceration. For instance I cannot fathom why the consular officer and NOT the supposedly abused lady was the witness in the case. It also beats my mind why their petition letters to the Ambassador were returned and yet the Ambassador knew nothing at all about the case.

The truth is Mr Inusah the formal consulate officer was acting like ambassador in the embassy at that time not offically appointed by goverment but beacause he was the oldest staff in the embassy about 2years in russia and the other staffs were new so he does almost everything in the embassy and at that time the ambassador was also new too, so the letter they wrote to the embassy that time entered the office of the consult office and he returned their petition letter back to them beacause he didn't want the ambassador to know. about the case.

I am at a lost because while the Consular in Ghana Embassy in Rome is very helpful and on top of her stuff, others are just obliterating the community.
