Let not ne naive and always at the bottom and begging the west. That is how we have lost any dignity in the world and will always be dictated to.
What Ghana needs is railways connecting the whole country. It is cheaper in the end run and a faster, durable and scalable means of transportation. Then build better roads across the whole country before bringing in buses. Our loads are shit. These buses are not meant dor pot hole prone roads. They will always break. And the engine mechanism means the buses will wear out in no time dure to the dust and filth it has to handle.
Let's get the basis right, first and foremost before investing senselessly. Bear in mind the Swedes are not giving us this for free.
All over the world, the greater countries have good good infrastructure; roads, railways, airports, waterways. Can has all the resources to create a better country. Mr Prez, you and your people should stop embezzling our cash and us it to build the country.

Good roads first! We have Civil, electrical, mechanical engineers graduating from KNUST University of Science & Technology in Kumasi year after year each year YET MOST of our roads in the whole country are full of pot holes! What a disgrace! We need leaders who have a progressive vision of Ghana & Africa!
Ghana has GhIE "Ghana Institute of Engineers" and GEAAA - Ghanaian Engineers and Architects Association of America They should be talking to John Mahama or the President should be taking to them about the deplorable roads we have, poor signage, lack of constant supply of light & water etc etc. We need everything a stable economy should have! We need a self reliant and progressive economy! Change is good! Ghanaians should change their mentality to a "can do" attitude regardless of what it is, and stop taking handouts and what is already "cooked" by other nations when we can cook it ourselves! Corruption should be eradicated for good!It keeps making the few VERY RICH to the detriment of majority of Ghanaians getting even poorer! Any country that have hawkers on the streets carrying things on their heads tells the whole world that country is VERY poor! "Ghana is poor" yet we have ALL the resources to build good roads & infrastructure and be successful yet we accept these pot holes with you learned men & women with Degrees,Masters, PhD in every principle of learning watching and doing nothing! or not much! why make ALL the knowledgge & your expertise RETARDED!? while you watch?
I think I am going to start a blog! That's the only way I can put my thoughts out there about my Disappointment with Ghana for the whole world to see!

South Africa was forced by its friend of democracy, Sweden of course to buy 9 jet fighters SA did not need. They had to pay billions and billions of dollars for war planes they could not even fly. Believe you me the planes are still sitting, collecting dust for years. South Africa has no potential enemy and there is no threat anywhere except from within. Do they need these expensive war machines that they cannot even control in times of war?
I know I cannot get through to Ghana but I still have to get my point across. If Africa knew how to choose her friends we would go a long way. But as they say “it takes leadership”.

atimes we act as if we are animals and doesnt really think but we have demoralized our huge abilities and capabilities.whats really good about these scania offer?lemme first ask,why was the University of Science and Technology established. we've never heard of any student from KNUST after completion who has been able to innovate even a meter cable.whats really been taught in this university?are these buses too difficult for apostle Kwadwo Sarfo to produce?of course not but because of 'no confidence' in ourselves and also the fact that someone is going to benefit millions of cedis from these buses. Suame magazine recently brought a non fuel car and we seems not to care about this great invention.why cant our leaders put up a company responsible for only mechanical engineering in this country and train people on how to manufacture our own cars and appliances?and imagine how many people will be employed.is this really how to even create jobs for the people by only importing, importing and importing?

Scania trucks and buses are very good but we have seen equals before.
We first saw the Neoplan buses, then the Kässbohrer, then Willowbrook buses, then Tata buses, the Metro buses but none of them survived the test of time, all because of just ONE thing: LACK OF MAINTENANCE.
What Ghanaian decision makers do not know is that those companies USE AGGRESSIVE METHODS, including BRIBERY to push the vehicle unto the customers.
None of the companies will ever mention REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE in the deal. The companies will NOT tell how difficult it will be to get parts and how much those parts cost.
And the Ghanaian decision maker being SOOOO STUPID and having NULL EXPERIENCE in their areas do not even know that there is something called REPAIR & MAINTENANCE, and even if they know, refuse to ask for it provided the get their bribe.
I say: not until we learn to accept that MAINTENANCE is as important as acquisition, we shall jump from one bus supplier to the other for 1000 yeras and the result will always be the same: we shall fail!

Trains would be better to use in Ghana, anyway. Therefore the government has to think and plan about construction of railway lines, instead of roads, alone.
IN NORTH AMERICA,all INTER-CITY BUSES have DOUBLE AXILS,and last very long.
GHANA has to consider those buses, for durability sake.

But the whole of Ghana cannot manage a Public Transport Service.
Money accrued from running the service will vanish in into managers' and directors' pockets. And soon we shall see new and another cemetery of Buses all over Ghana. Each invisibly tainted with our oil money!
That is accountability made in Ghana by the learned elite.

Why do Ghanaians think they are getting a deal when it comes to these buses. All large cities are getting rail systems because that is what is solving their transportation issues. However, Ghana is getting their junk. Railway transportation is what is needed in Ghana not buses. Just try the railway system from Nsawam to Accra central and you will see the difference. Just transport people between these locations from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
