Three Nigerians, who allegedly placed an electronic device on an ATM machine at the Spintex Road branch of Barclays Bank and succeeded in obtaining visa card information of customers, have been put before an Accra Circuit Court to answer five fraud related charges.
The three accused persons, Tony Anderson, businessman, Kelvin Benedict Adesida, businessman and Seun Okhor, student were said to have used the information obtained to create fake ATM cards which they used to buy items from companies.
The fourth accused person, Charles Oladipupo Smith, is currently on the run.
They were on Thursday charged with five counts of conspiracy to commit crime, stealing, attempt to commit crime, unauthorised access to devices for the purpose of crime and unauthorised circumvention.
The three accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court, presided over by Francis Obiri, however remanded them into prison custody to assist the police in investigations after observing that their case was a complicated one, which the police would need adequate time to complete investigations.
The prosecutor, DSP Aidan Dery, narrating the facts of the case, disclosed that the complainants were Nana Addo Ampem Darko, a fraud analyst at Barclays Bank Ghana Limited, Accra and Yasser Omar Mohammed, a retail manager at Itsalat Samsung mobile phones distributors Limited, Accra.
He narrated that in November 2013, the accused persons unlawfully placed an electronic device on the Spintex Road branch of Barclays Bank’s ATM Machine and succeeded in stealing the visa card information of the bank’s customers.
The accused persons allegedly used the customers’ information to build fraudulent visa cards for fraudulent purposes.
The prosecutor stated that on November 23, 2013, the accused persons purchased five Samsung note 3 mobile phone valued at GH¢9,500 from the Itsalat Samsung mobile phone distributors at the Accra Mall and used the fraudulent visa card to pay for the items.
On November 26, 2013, the accused persons and Charles allegedly went to the Osu branch of the same company and attempted buying 13 Samsung note 3 mobile phones value at GH¢22,425 and again used the same fake visa cards to make payment.
The manager in the shop, who suspected the deal to be fraudulent, then alerted police and the accused persons were arrested.
However, Charles managed to escape with the fake cards.
DSP Dery stated that the accused persons admitted using the fake visa cards but claimed the cards belonged to Charles.

Snake bites man’s penis
Regional News of Monday, 9 December 2013
Source: Daily Guide
A 34-year-old man at Faaman near Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region had his penis bitten by a snake while attending to nature’s call.
Kwabena Nkrumah was attending to nature’s call at a public toilet facility in a deplorable state at Faaman when he suddenly felt a sharp pain at the tip of his manhood.
When he starred deep into the toilet, Nkrumah, who is a porter, nearly collapsed as he saw a big black snake which was about to pounce on his dangling manhood once again.
The man then shouted for help and jumped from harm’s way to a place on the toilet where the snake could not reach him, Mallam Yahaya of Kessben FM said.
According to him, the incident occurred around 10:00 am on Wednesday, adding that Nkrumah’s sudden wail for help, caused panic and fear among other people who were also attending to nature’s call.
He said Nkrumah’s shouts of “snake, snake, snake,” intensified the panic among the people as they ran helter-skelter without even cleaning themselves to avert being hurt by the serpent.
Mallam Yahaya said Nkrumah reported to the people that he had, indeed, been bitten at the tip of his penis by the black snake, complaining further that he was feeling severe pain at the tip of his manhood.
He said the people around hurriedly rushed Nkrumah, who was feeling a bit dizzy, to the hospital where he was treated. Nkrumah had since been discharged from the medical facility.
Recounting his horrific experience on Kessben FMs ‘Breaking News’ programme, Nkrumah told Ali Baba, host of the show that, he initially thought the pain he felt was normal until he saw the black snake lying just beneath him. He noted that he started shivering and yelled for help. He however said he was now feeling better.

Eight suspected armed robbers, at dawn last Saturday, attacked 14 employees of White Dove Mineral Water, a sachet water producing company at Akyem Akroso in the Birim Central Municipality, and took them hostage.
The robbers, some of who allegedly wielded guns and machetes, collected the mobile phones of the victims and GH¢5,000, being the previous day's sales of sachet water, locked the workers in a room, ransacked the place and fled before a report was made to the police.
Briefing the Daily Graphic at Oda yesterday, the Oda Municipal Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Issah Mohammed Cantona, said about 2 a.m. last Saturday, when the workers were busily producing water, the eight robbers, four of whom were masked, scaled the wall of the factory into the premises.
He said the robbers ordered the workers to surrender all their mobile phones and the money they had on them and they complied.
DSP Cantona said the robbers, not satisfied with what the workers had given them, ordered all of them into one room, locked them up and ransacked the entire factory for more money.
He said after their operation, which lasted for more than an hour, the robbers warned them not to come out of the room until after 7 a.m. and fled with their booty.
DSP Cantona said after the robbers had left the scene, one of the male employees managed to destroy a window of the room for the other hostages to come out through it.
The employees then lodged a complaint with the Akroso Police, who called for reinforcement from Oda but it was too late; the robbers had already fled the scene.
He said the police had mounted a search for the criminals and appealed to the general public to assist them with information to enable the police to apprehend them.
An Accra Fast Track High Court would on Monday February 27 determine the fate of Aryee Aryeetey, alias Ata Ayi, and three others standing trial for robbery and conspiracy. Ataa Ayi and his accomplices, namely Samuel Kweku Annan Roger Koblah Agbodoga and Raymond Ameh, who pleaded not guilty, are in custody.
When the trial resumed on Wednesday, the Court asked defence counsel to file their addresses to the Court by February 3 to enable it to deliver its verdict.
He Prosecution during the 10-month trial called five witnesses before Mr Justice Baffoe Bonney to state their case. The case of the Prosecution was that on October 14, 2003, Mr Bernard Boadi Agyeman, Managing Director of Prism Consult Limited, sent one of his workers, Mr Ilaisu Mamudu, to cash a cheque for 70 million cedis from the Opeibea Branch of the Standard Chartered Bank, near Kotoka International Airport.
The Prosecution said after cashing the money, which was put in a bag, Mr Mamudu saw Mr Isaac Yanney, Managing Director of Investhec Company Limited, who said he had an appointment with Mr Boadi Agyeman at his office at Dzorwulu.
Mr Yanney, therefore, offered Mr Mamudu a lift in his car and the money was put into the boot.
On their way to the Office, the accused persons, who were using a saloon car, trailed the vehicle until they got to the office at Dzorwulu.
The Prosecution said as soon as they parked their vehicle, the accused persons parked behind them, got off their car and started shooting indiscriminately.
The accused persons ordered their victim and other bystanders to flee or risk being shot.
The Prosecution said the accused persons fired several times at the boot to force it open, took the bag containing the 70 million cedis and fled.
On December 18, 2003 Sammy Tugah and Agbodoga were arrested upon a tip-off and during interrogation mentioned Ameh and Ata Ayi as their accomplices.
The accused persons denied the charges saying they neither conspired to rob or rob anybody.
Meanwhile, the same Court would commence a mini trial on February 16, in a second case of Ata Ayi and eight others who are being held for robbing a businesswoman of 65,000 dollars and 45 million cedis at Taifa Junction on February 5, 2003.
The accomplices include Nana Yaw Owusu, Yaw Asante Agyekum, Stephen Nyarko, Frederick Lamptey Annan, alias Nunnboe and Kwabla Agbodoga. The others are Samuel Kweku Annan, Raymond Ameh and Nana Osei Razak.
They have all pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and robbery.

Close to forty years ago,I attended a lecture at a Canadian Universty, on the Liberation Struggles that was taking place in Southern Africa. A very close associate of Mr. Batsa at the Spark,Mr. Kofi Hedjor, made mince meat of a so-called Southern African expert and panelist, who had attempted to propagate this same falsehood that Mandela`s in-law,has aslo put to rest.
Mr. Hedjor`s first-hand account of encounters and the free exchange of ideas the Osagyefo had with some of the key leaders of the Liberation Movement, earned him a loud and sustained applause from the fully packed Auditorium.

Could you imagine if it was Dr.Busia who was in power and refused to meet Mandela on state visit? What these false Ewe Socialists and Communists would have said? Now, these false lovers of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah will invent reasons why Dr. Nkrumah did not allow Mandela to meet him.
Dr. Nkrumah did not steal Ghana's money like P/NDC governments have been doing. And they are the very people who boast of knowing everything of Nkrumah. I hope, these stupid greedy thieves of our leaders in Africa will hail what President Obama said. If you love Mandela and you cherish his wisdom, then follow Mandela examples. Don't steal! Don't kill innocent political opponents. Mandela did not kill even a pet of his oppressors. He forgave them and pursue the path of peace in South Africa.
Rawlings and his gangsters have emptied our state treasury for their personal gains. He has gone to an extent of stealing state factory for his personal gains. This stupid Rawlings is not ashamed of evils he has brought upon Ghanaians, and keep on blaming Kuffour. Shame Mr. Stupid Rawlings. Ghanaians know what you have done to Ghana.

DATE: MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2013
SUBJECT: THIS IS TO REGRETTABLY SEND MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES TO THE GOVERNMENT, PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA AND THE BEREAVED FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF H.E.FORMER PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA NELSON MANDELA OF THE SAD DEATH OF THE FORMER PRESIDENT.
THAT IT IS ALWAYS SAID AND POSTULATED THAT "TO EVERY LIFE JOURNEY, THERE IS A BEGINNING AND THERE IS ALSO DEFINITELY AN END" AND HEREIN, AGAIN NOT ONLY THE PEOPLE OF SOTH AFRICA AND AFRICA BUT THE ENTIRE WORLD WOKE UP AND HEARD THE NEWS ON THE AIR-WAVES OF THE SOUNDS OF RADIO AND TELEVISION THE SAD DEATH OF THE LEGENDERY AND A MAN I PERSONALLY CALLED "THE DOYEN OF SOUTH AFRICA DEMOCRACY AND THE RULE OF LAW" DEMISED.
THAT DEATH OCCURRENCE AGAIN, IS ANOTHER PROOF OF THE FACT THAT "DEATH IS INEVITABLE TO ANY MAN OR WOMAN NO MATTER THE STATURE OF ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE PERSON AND NO MATTER WHAT FATE OF HEIGHTS ATTAINED IN BOTH SOCIAL, RELIGIOUS, POLITICAL AND OTHER SOCIETAL STRATIFICATION CLASS THE PERSON ATTAINED THAT WHEN THE HOUR MOMENT OF TIME ARRIVES WHICH IS UNKNOWN TO US THOUGH MEDICAL SCIENCE HAS MADE SUCH AN INROAD INTO SUCH FATE DETERMINATIONS BUT STILL HIDDEN FROM ALL OF US IS "THE EXACT DAY, THE EXACT TIME, HOUR, MINUTES AND SECONDS" OF SUCH INEVITABLE OCCURRENCE ARE STILL HIDDEN FROM EVEN THE BEST SCIENTISTS OF THE WORLD.
MOREOVER, WHAT IS MORE INTRIGUING IN NATURE, CHARACTER AND FORM ARE THAT SCIENCE CANNOT PREVENT OR STOP SUCH OCCURRENCE IF THE TIME ARRIVED FOR IT TO OCCUR.
IT IS ONE OF SUCH EVENTS AGAIN THAT THE WORLD IS WITNESSING THAT THE GREAT LEGENDERY "MADIBA" H.E.FORMER PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA NELSON MANDELA HAS PASSED AWAY TO ETERNITY.
THAT NO WORD OR WORDS IN THIS PLANET WORLD CAN OR COULD BEST DESCRIBE THE MAN "MADIBA" AND EVEN IF THERE IS OR THERE ARE THEN THOSE WORDS MUST BY NOW BE EXHAUSTED IN VIEW OF THE VARIOUS MESSAGES AND CONDOLENCES EXPRESSED BY WORLD LEADERS AND ALL OTHERS.
HOWEVER, SINCE TRUTH NEEDS NO DECORATIONS OF WORDS BUT THE BARE FACTS THAT I REGRETTABLY SUBMIT THAT NOT ONLY THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA AND AFRICA THAT LOST THIS GREAT LEADER AND INSPIRER BUT THE ENTIRE WORLD LOST A TRUE GREAT MAN WHO WAS THE "DOYEN OF SOUTH AFRICA DEMOCRACY AND THE RULE OF LAW".
THAT HE WAS A VISIONARY LEADER AND OPPORTUNITY GIVER AND CREATED THE PLATFORM FOR ALL OTHERS TO BE INVOLVED IN THE GOVERNANCE OF SOUTH AFRICA WHEN HE WAS FINALLY RELEASED FROM 27 YEARS JAILED AND BECAME THE FIRST BLACK ELECTED PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA.
THOUGH HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE A SECOND TERM BUT HE VOLUNTARILY GAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HIS VICE PRESIDENT IN THE PERSON OF H.E.FORMER PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA THOMAS MBEKI WHO WAS SUCCESSFULLY ELECTED AS THE SECOND BLACK PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA.
THAT THE MOST SPECTACULAR DISPENSATION OF THE LATE FORMER PRESIDENT H.E.NELSON MANDELA WAS THAT HE APPOINTED THE WHITE PRESIDENT DURING THE APARTHEID REGIME WHO ADOPTED DIALOGUE TO FREE NELSON MANDELA FROM PRISON H.E. FORMER WHITE RACE PRESIDENT DE CLERK HIS SECOND VICE PRESIDENT AND MADE THE GOVERNMENT "AN ALL INCLUSIVE GOVERNMENT".
THAT IF THERE IS ANY HONOUR (HONOR) TO BE DONE TO H.E.FORMER PRESIDENT NELSON MANDELA LEGACY THEN THE ENTIRE WORLD MUST GIVE "PEACE A CHANCE TO RULE IN THE WORLD".
THAT DIALOGUE TO BE ADOPTED TO RESOLVE CONFLICTS SITUATIONS AND IF THERE SHOULD BE ANYTHING WORTHY TO FIGHT THEN I RESPECTFULLY SUBMIT THAT IT SHOULD BE A FIGHT AGAINST "POVERTY, SICKNESS AND DISEASES, HUNGER AND IGNORANCE" AND FOR THESE CANCERS THERE ARE NO EXCUSE(S) FOR THE WORLD TO ADOPT A COLLECTIVE APPROACH TO FIGHT THEM TO GIVE A BEFITTING TRIBUTES AND TO PROTECT THE LEGACY OF THE LATE H.E.FORMER PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA NELSON MANDELA, THERETO.
MAY I NOW REGRETTABLY CONVEY TO THE GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA AND THE BEREAVED FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF MY CONDOLENCES AND ALSO TO REMIND THEM THAT MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THEM.
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE!

The fact is that the ANC was too timid for Nkrumah's liking. He leaned towards the radical Pan Africanist Congress, PAC.
It was a replay of the competing camps during the formation of the OAU - the rival Casablanca and Brazaville Groups. Nkrumah championed the radicals while the ivory Coast's Houphet Biogny led the conservative side. Eventually the OAU was born as a compromise between the two rival groups. Nkrumah, Sekou Toure (Guines) and Modibo Keita (Mali) led the radicals.
As a PAC supporter, Nkrumah indeed "refused" to meet Mandela in the ANC's hour of need though he had 10 million pounds to give to Guinea. Mr Mandela wrote about this, and I will look for it and get it on Ghanaweb in the next few days. What a shame!

Unfortunately Nkrumah will turn in his grave knowing that Ghana has not achievement much since independence except making its leaders rich. People still have no clean water and toilets. Education is inferior and many children still learn under trees.

Mandela is great but Nkrumah was greater. Nkrumah was a giant in the liberation of the whole of the Africa continent from foreign domination. Not only that, Nkrumah was also a visionary when it comes to industrialization.
Mandela was endowed with an unparalleled spirit of forgiveness.

FREEDOM was the PRODUCT of The Liberation Struugle, RECONCILIATION is The BYPRODUCT of His Freedom.
Which on is better? Reconciliation in BONDAGE or Reconciliation in FREEDOM?
RECONCILIATION is about PEACE, FREEDOM is about JUSTICE.
As Bob Marley said, everyone is crying out for PEACE but no one is crying out for JUSTICE.
Why has the liberation struggle to free Blacks from white domination being belittled and pushed onto the back-burner? Why is not being spoken about? Is it because we don't want to ruffle feathers? Peace is good and Freedom is bad?
Stupid Africans, be it be known to you that Reconciliation was a byproduct of the liberation struggle waged and supported by others.
It was Nkrumah's liberation ideology of the blacks from oppressive whites and colonial powers that ultimately culminated in Mandela's freedom.
Reconciliation wasn't what set Mandela shackles free from jail. The liberation struggle spearheaded by many was what eventually led Mandela out of jail.
His reconciliation is not any greater than that of Martin Luther King's.

This is bunkers of misleading article. Dates inaccurate and unspecific. For instance who is the faceless Ghanaian son in-law of Mandela?
Kofi Batsa was the man in-charge of Bureau of African affairs under great Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah. This was the office through which material and financial support went to the freedom fighters in countries including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Somalia, Mali, Guinea, Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania and most African countries which were all under colonial oppression, with the sole aim to unit the entire continent after each have had independence to establish a strong Pan-African continent like today's E.U
With the above support coming from Ghana then, how could Ghana come so low in international and African affairs today with such untold social economy hardships facing our people after freedom?
Where did Ghana went wrong?
