nii odartey lamptey, prince amoako, baffoe djan, awudu issaka, and like you said laryea kingson all fizzled out when they attempted it. those who left the shores of ghana about 5 or more years ago will struggle to find form in the local league. there is very little to choose between the smaller clubs and the big clubs. unlike in the past where players move from only smaller clubs to bigger clubs, these days you will be amazed at the number of ex hearts and kotoko players who are plying their trade with the smaller clubs. apart from that some players who have had some stincts with foreign-based clubs have returned in their prime to feature for mainly the smaller clubs. again some clubs have bben able to spray their teams with quality players from other countries. Again, there are more & more young players well-trained at the academys joining the premier league clubs.
again there are alot of expatraite coaches imparting good training to some of the teams. yet again more & more retired footballers with quality exposure are taking to coaching. So our local football is not as poor as what some people will want us to believe.
Ask Kuffour why he gave up his ambition of lacing the boots of kotko before calling it quits.
Let me say that players like nkoom, afful, djan, muntari, will struggle to find their feet competing against teams like medeama, bechem united, dwarfs, amedaus, inter allies, wa all stars, heart of lions, hasaacas, etc
