The minister got it all wrong. Contractors do not have any incentive to perform because no one is sanctioned for poor job. If people go to jail for deviating from specs just to for cutting corners sake and people die or are injured, contractors will sit up. What happened to the contractor who built the mall that collapsed at Achimota?

What do you mean by bad engineers?
Is it the design, the spec or the supervision or what? If it is only the supervision that made BAD engineers, then I think you have not got it.
Please check your head again and come.

We should be holding both Engineers and Contractors responsible for abusing our trust. They should be held responsible. It is time to start prosecuting them because it amounts to stealing and endangering the public. If we are not careful, all this clamor for infrastructure will amount to a
total waste of funds.

Is it honorable Sulemani or excuser-in-chief Sulemani? There is nothing, law or protocol, forbidding vendors/contractors to have qualified PE's or pseudo-engineers on payroll that can read and interpret architectural drawings. In my own job capacity as a systems engineer working with qualified PE’s, I have been educated to read and confidently evaluate drawings/blue prints.
The question to this minister of Transportation and roads is how are construction projects to be executed according to submission presented for bids if contractors are incapable of reading and or interpreting documents? If a qualified contractor with love of nation accepts a job contract, they are morally bound to bring foolishness or inaccurate engineering prints on the part of architects to the attention to the people with jurisdiction; anything else is a waste of time. It remind me of the many untrained Ghanaian building contractors some of whom cannot tell what is an overlooking balcony and or sunken living room floor space.

The. Minister got this wrong. Can Sulemani tell us the people how many contracts have been awarded to contractors purely based on commercial and technical considerations without POLITICAL INTERFERENCE BY POLITICIANS. Can Sulemani explain why Contractors in Ghana have been tagged as belonging either NDC or NPP. Why are Sulemani and his colleague politicians only interested in procurement of works and services only as soon as they get into office. All the problems of are happening under Sulemani's leadership as a Minister, why should he be in Office? Only politicians will keep such people in office because they only steal the taxes paid by the people.

I think we have both corrupt and shoddy contractors as well as bad and corrupt engineers, that is why people construct bad roads/buildings things all the time. The administrator, engineers at the various government departments must stop taking or collecting money from contactors before awarding them with contracts. That is why we have such bad roads in our country. The contractors part with huge sums of moneys and cannot be bothered if the road is badly contracted or not. as in the UK if you construct any roads and it does not last for a number of years the contractor is responsible for its reconstruction. Its time people are held for their actions. Above all whoever is responsible for giving the green light for any road constructed must be jailed when roads do not last long. Yaa br3 ne pot holes.
