well, a shipping line for west africa is laudable, however the unfortunate side of it is that we have francophones in the sub-region who cannot or are not ready to wean themselves from France. France would also want to continue maintain these zones as monopolistic markets, such that if a shipping line of this kind would affect the business of frnch companies, then it will surely fail a a business entity.MARK MY WORDS.

Do we remember the Black Star Lines with our numerous ships running along the coasts of Africa taking our raw materials to Europe and bring our orders from Europe and America and Canada. We remember it was a Ghana Black Star Line vessel that carried the turbines to be installed at Akosombo Dam from the port of its shipment from Canada to Tema. Think about that. Yet we were convinced Nkrumah was mismanaging our money and economy so we must overthrow him, and we did. Dark Days In Ghana indeed.

We're not creative, but we're only good in to destroy what you create; that's why we're still marking-time & marching backward for-ever instead!!
Can I have a witness?

WHERE DO WE TRAIN OUR MARINERS NOW?
My two elder brothers, were products of the NAUTICAL COLLEGE,and I always wonder why Rawlings gave away such a beneficial and valuable asset of Ghana,Nkrumah planted.
The WEST AFRICAN SHIPPING LINE,would not be a bad thing at all,if it will be shortening the gap in the travelling days of our products, from going all the way to Europe, and back.
It is going to salvage, energise, quicken and therefore ensures profit/gains,in the state of marine business in WEST AFRICA.
We should all try as much as we can,to support with what we can,to see it through.

ECOWAS begin thinking about railway system between the countries. Construction will create massive jobs for each country and will cost less to maintain compared to automobile operation. Also when Customs Officers inspect items at point of entry there will be no more inspection, cutting down bribery and corruption as the items head to its final destination. Excellent example is EU
