This is the way the administration flows, they are only apologizing because the 91 year old decided that she was not going to take it lying down, other wise they would have rolled over her and done the change. Shame on Vanderpuije and the whole administration. You did it to Ohene Djan and now to this sweet old lady. Hurray to Theodosia for standing up and speaking up.
Ghanaians should take a cue from this old lady and protest the evil, corruption, and hardships in the society. BRAVO Theodosia!!!!!!

ndc is trying to make us all foolishly believe that this is all about partisan politics but in reality its a feudal system of governance based on tribalism and ethnic affiliation . there is no partisan politics rather anti Akan movements , north/ south and east/ west divisions . it is the truth and everyone first asks what tribe does someone belong to before they even consider the substance of what was said . yes we have gone back not decades but centuries . personally i do not care who rules as long as they endeavor to do some good and secure sustainable development and jobs for our people irrespective of tribe , ethnic pedigree , religion or social status but that being said i know its impossible due to hegemony and chauvinistic religious tribalism not forgetting the opportunism of the satellite groups like the Gas and krobos. no matter how good the plan i remain pessimistic and realize everything will fail in this climate of greed , selfishness and no direction . ITS ALL ABOUT TRIBAL POLITICS SO WATCH YOUR BACK

Sorry to burst your bubble, folks, but it is better to call a spade a spade and tell the truth instead of deceiving ourselves. I don't know where this author got his info from but it's clear he's a bit misinformed. Not everything you see in Wikipedia is correct. Just use the scale on Google earth to get the approximate dimensions and area, and compare to a list of the largest city squares, and you will see that at about 75,000 square metres, the Black Star Square is a relatively small city square amongst the big city squares in this world. The largest city square on earth is not Tiananmen Square either. It is the Xinghai square in China at 1.1 million sqm. The second largest is the Merdeka Square in Indonesia at 1 million sqm. The Black Star Square comes at somewhere in the 35th place more or less.

One can make a case for rural folk and national health as priority areas for government to urgently tackle in solving the country's problems. But that's a different matter altogether. National monuments must never be allowed to be overtaken the elements and allowed to deteriorate. They are our natioanal heritage and are the very embodyment of our culture and spirit, the spirit of the nation, of Ghana and not any tribe - Ga, Asante Ewe, Fante,Nzema, Dagomba etc, etc - They represent the memories of people who have sacrifised their lives for us to live in the present. It is not a matter for us to treat lightly in the shallow, noisy and irreverent manner in which we tackle national issues these days.

For the next national event at the Square the President and his Ministers must be seated at the area with the worst damage for the structure to cave in on them. Instead of investing national resources they choose to put our monies into stupid ventures like the rearing of holiday-loving guinea fowls (NKONFEM), GYEEDA, Judgement Debts, etc., because those are their vehicles for looting and stealing. Let the structures collapse on them to rid Ghana of the arrogant thieves. They use PODUASE LODGE everyday but fail to notice that the place is crying for painting and maintenance. They have watched all of Nkrumah's legacies collapse one after the other. The Independence Square and Peduase Lodge are among the few Nkrumah legacies left, and they too are being left to rot. Could it be because they remind the NDC and it's mother and precursor, the PNDC, of their inability to create a single legacy of significance in their nearly 30year rule???

The fact is every part of mother Ghana is pathetically a wreckage as if Ghana have ceased to be an inhabited country. The great Osagyefo's country we were all once proud as citizens is a huge shadow of her former self.
Roads have become death traps killing our people more than any killer disease, hospitals turn to ghost transit halls where people go to pass on to ease sufferings, school structures turn into shiiting parade grounds where matured men and women shockingly including married women are publicly seen easing themselves as result of no provision for public toilets, state jobs are only given to hoodlum followers of the guinea fowls government, graduates walking hopelessly on our roads whilst the uncontrolled traffic is made worse by the vision-less NDC government whose only success is despicably training the youth as taxi drivers to add up to the road mess.
Such state mess and wreckage is today the horrible hallmarks of our once peacefully and beautiful enjoyable mother land Ghana. Not to mention about the stinky officially instituted corruption and crime waves going on and on shamelessly with all arrogance and with impunity.
Ghana is today like a home without an effective father where any idiot pedophile pass by, rape the children and walk free.
Everything Ghana disastrously crumbling.

Oh, Ghana! Where are our inspection engineers? Blame our ministers for lack of basic intelligence and misplaced priorities.
Everyone knows that a reinforced concrete structure, particularly when in a marine atmosphere, needs the greatest amount of periodic inspection to check for fissures and cracks in the concrete. Once the steel reinforcement starts to corrode, the concrete spalls and degrades rapidly.
