Excellent proposal but approach with caution and read the small print carefully. GE are experts at screwing countries over.

You do know that this investment in Ghana is backed by the Power Africa initiative right?
GE would never make such an investment without knowing the risk would be beared by the US taxpayers and the US banks (and African banks - AfDB etc) that were tripping all over themselves to get a low risk opportunity to get a piece of the African energy pie...
If they do not make money in Ghana trust me they will make their money in the 5 other nations that are part of Power Africa (especially Nigeria and Tanzania).

The Ghanaian economy is much more dynamic and well managed than the countries you mention. All we need is a responsible forward-looking government which hopefully, Mahamah will prove out to be and not a copy of the looting brigade. It would be really sad if John Mahamah turns out to be like Fufuor. He has started well by doing something about corruption and those efforts must be intensified with urgency. Corruption with impunity which was rife under Kufuor and which Prof. Atta-Mills was woefully lethargic about must be emphatically tackled. Then the economy will begin to show signs of good health. Above all lets not hand over the economy to the looting brigade.

This project will be great for industry but will do nothing for the average homeowner. Let us not forget that he mentioned accelerating things to meet a specific timeline. Who knows what that means. At the end of the day, Ghanaian families just cannot afford what needs to be paid for constant power supply. Something has to give somewhere. We shall see.

If you're really a GE shareholder, you would have been notified beforehand on this deal in the first place and your so-called disapproval letter would have gone through their mail or email and your bogus concern addressed before they even embark on a trip to Ghana for such a project. How could some of you who don't know jack-shit about the word Jacky, could yet, open your collective months wide and lie like this, beats me.
