This prof is a joke. His proposals are so pedestrian. How much of the wage bill is made up of ministers salary? How far will the pin move by slashing the ministers' salaries? If he has not suggestion he should stay quiet.

How do the two compare, and waht lessons did you want us to learn from that? The US has over fifty states, each with its own governor - equal to our regional ministers in this case. Adding these number of these governors and their assistants would soar the US figure to nearly 150. This is where you should have made your comparision. Even though that would not have justified Gnana's tally in any way, that would have made your treatise clearer.

I disagree. Issuance of Treasury Bills and Bonds is a way of the government to borrow from the private sector. In doing so, the government reduces money in circulation. That reduction does not cause inflation; it infact does the opposite. Prices don't go up when people don't have much money in their hands to spend on abundant goods aand services.

He confused Bank of Ghana with the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank. The U.S Federal Reserve is a Private Institution and independent from the U.S. Treasury.

In the United States, the Treasury which is a wing of the U.S. Gov't. issues the Treasury Securities and Bonds for the Federal Reserve Bank to mint the Currency (Dollars) to buy the issued Bonds with Interest, and that practice is inflationary if it is done excessively.

However, the arrangement is not the same with Ghana. Bank of Ghana is not independent from Ghana Govt. so Bank of Ghana issuing Treasuries and selling them directly to the public is no way inflationary but rather the opposite.

Ghanaians had long time been advocating against the duplicitous style of running the affairs for this country after Kwame Nkrumah. No party from JJ down to Mahama had been able to eliminate or reduce it to a nominal position. The pottering zealous thieves come and go without making a dent on it.
All you sanctimonious preachers(idiots) are blaming Mahama for everything. How many times did K4 travelled when he was in office?. Did any of you fuckers said a word. Kufour never travelled alone. He made sure a plane full of the Akans people were in. All the trips K4 made was to damp Ashantis in foreign countries. But no one questioned that. He did so with his hawk-shaw looks.
If politics is the art of making civilization works, can JJ and K4 also take some blame of the economic woes. Throwing adrenaline jabs at Mahama is nonsense. Blaming the victim will not solve the problem in this situation.

You have Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Science and each also has two deputies. Petroleum is pat of Natural Resources and yet we have a different Ministry for Petroleum with 2 deputy minister.
For God's sake, the current number of Ministers can be reduced by 50% and still operate efficiently.
All the Ministers are interested in is allowances and huge salaries, vehicles, travelling abroad etc.
Reduce the government and we shall bounce back
