Sometimes your answers and questions are on called for.
First of all were the good Samaritans investigated to be qualified to take care of the baby? You do not give out babies to any Tom, Dick and Harry that stops by to adopt, has to be investigated properly to make sure they are are fit to take care of the child or could have become abusive parents. If something had gone wrong with the baby, people like you would have been the ones who would be looking for the head of the Minister. You people do not think logically before commenting on certain topics.
I feel sorry for Mr. Sarpong for commenting on this topic without finding out when the Minister was agree with her deputies.

Frankly, things are not going well with this nation with respect to people's attitudes and responses to certain issues of national importance. We need to understand certain issues concerning adoption before condemning the Minister.
You cannot or no one can just get up and sign a baby away because the baby is an orphan or the mother cannot take care of her/him. There are rules governing adoption and so the Deputy Minister is totally wrong in signing away the baby to forster care without the due process. Someone might say it takes long; yes, it takes some amount of time but that has been instituted to safeguard the baby to be adopted.
Before a child is adopted, extensive investigations are carried out into the background of the would-be forster parants to determine whether they can take care of the baby adequately. Their mental faculties, financial positions, even where they live, etc are carefully scrutinized to determine that the baby will be properly taken care of.
It is strange that the Deputy is ignorant of this.
We as a nation MUST at ALL cost move away from the current practise of condemning people and things on party lines.
A case in point is what Brig Gen Nuno Mensay said. What at all was wrong with what he said? Are we saying that the Govt should continue paying for periods people are on strike? The path this nation is leading concerning such behaviours is sad and will only lead to destruction. We must turn 180 degrees so that each matter is looked at on its merit.

The problem I have with the NPP is that they consider every single issue a Battle Ground for Political grand standing.
And in this particular instance, we all know why:
The NPP thinks by attacking Nana Oye or throwing mud at her they will be embarrassing her and, by extention, her husband who so admirably beat them at the Law.
This is a very poor and desparate strategy that makes the NPP appear more Pathetic and Pitiable than they really may be.
This is a Party that boasts of having the Cream of Educated Ghanaians in its ranks yet their pronouncements, at times, are so undignified you wonder whether they are offered to serve any purpose or simply to re-echo their existence or whatever.
For starters, it is NOT the decision of a Minister or her Deputy, or for that matter, any individual to decide out of Pity or Concern or any Reason the fate of a child not their own and who should or must have custody of that child. That decision is made by the Courts.
The Two ladies who are making all the noise have been labeled as 'Foster Parents'. Who assigned them that role in the child's life?
What efforts have been made by all those claiming to seek the best interest of the child to locate extended family members?
Do we realize the precedent that we are seeking to establish through the Minister and her Ministry that any time someone who is Challenged has a child, somebody can announce themselves as 'Foster parents' and proceed to regularize that claim with the Connivance of a Deputy Minister who obviously does not know what she is about re this issue?
And when the Minister whose mandate is superior and is also experienced in such matters steps in the first thought of these two 'husband and wife' women is to find their way not to any place but the offices of the NPP sponsored and Politically biased Daily Guide Newspaper.
There are so many Political issues out there that can keep the NPP attack Machinery busy 24/7.
To even think of politicising this poor child's predicament tells us one thing: These NPP people DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUES ARE and when they are lucky to recognize one they are ON THE WRONG SIDE of it.

It is very disheartening the hear that about people put in very responsible position making grave mistakes that affects the welfare of human beings.
The Sector Minister, Nana Oye Lithur appears not to have an understanding of the issues involved in the case which revolves around Mental Health and Children Act and provision of services to alleviate the problems faced by the child and mother in the case.
The Ghana Mental Health Act and the Children Act are all similar to that of the United Kingdom which places responsibilities for Health Service and the Social Welfare Department. The Director of Social Welfare and the Deputy Minister were right to temporarily place the child in Forster Care rather that in a Children’s Home, an Institution which is failing and unable to cope with the their responsibilities as evidenced by the Manager of the home not accepting the child at the first instance. In the UK, the trend is to reduce institutional placement of children and the state now encourages Forster Care Placement and Adoption of children in need. An individual cannot make decisions of such magnitude without having regard to the long term care needs of the child. At least, having the child being looked after by the Forster Parents would have given the Department of Social Welfare enough time to investigate the mother’s background, contact her family to see if anyone could take care of the child and then perhaps even support the birth mother’s family to look after the child. Then of course the welfare of the mother should also be important and Mental Health Care and Support would have stabilised her to be able to resume her motherhood and responsibilities.
What I read about this case is not a systematic approach to resolve a crisis, but a show of power, which is unnecessary and at worse based on ignorance.
Social Welfare and the Health Service need to educate the people about their role and responsibilities.
