Let Mahama government know that they cannot take us for a ride,is that the better Ghana Agenda they promised Ghanaians? This Government must be brought to it´s knees b´cos it´s too arrogant.Look at the way the Ministers are behaving as if they have no cares. Just imagine the number of Ministers we have in Ghana as compared to USA, what do the ghanaian Ministers do? do we need so many do nothing Ministers? and their deputies, how much do we pay them. Do we really need these good for nothing Ministers? Mahama do sit up and stop lieing to Ghanaians.

An employer is to enhance the conditions of employment and working environment of his or her workers. Employers unless they provide food for their workers, which is bared by Ghana's labour laws can decide the cost of food. The employer including the state provide shelter for some workers at no cost to the worker, but in most cases the cost is bared by the worker.
By 1963 water was free to all Ghanaians living in urban centres. To make the cost of electricity cheap Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's CPP government embarked on the investment into hydro and nuclear power generation, the later which was totally abrogated by the military junta National Liberation Council (NLC). Nkrumah even thought of the electricity pool involving the damming of the River Congo, thus providing the continent of almost half of her electricity needs.
It is on record that the U.S. which held power in the Democratic Republic of Congo from 1962, through her stooge and without responsibility did not build even a single dam on the River Congo. To let us depend on the use of crude oil and gas to produce electricity which is costly as compared to hydro and nuclear the dolls in Ghana who protect the interest of U.S. and her allies prevented us from building any nuclear power station and the Kpong hydro project was added to Akosombo only during the Gen. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong era from 1972 to 1978.
The biological need of the human person is first air, followed by water, food, clothing as a social need, shelter and light in the night.
Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to protect the people from those biological needs created a clean environment on the towns, supplied free and clean tap water, set up the Farmers Brigade to cultivate, distribute and process food. The Builders Brigade, State Construction, State Housing and the Public Works Department to provide buildings and roads.
The state has not signed any agreement with the unions to keep the cost of food, water and power low since the state does not produce all that and do not have power over their production and distribution. The state also does not have control over any enterprise set up and administered by the Trades Unions, and therefore can not go to force them to bring down their charges.
The unions and the state have not agreed on the cost of water and electricity as part of any agreement, thus none of the parties can allege that that agreement has been breach by any of the parties.
Thus the ultimatum by the Trades Union Congress over the cost of water and electricity which are not part of any agreements signed between the parties is in itself an illegality and must be ignored by all workers.
Thus, from the above the call to strike is an illegality and any person who partake is to lose his or her wages and salaries in accordance with the Labor Act 2003, Act 651,since the current increase in the price of electricity and water was not enshrined in the collective agreement between the state and the labour unions.
For the avoidance of thought Part XIX, Section 168 of the Labour Act 2003, Act 651 states: (1) Subject to sections 159 snf 160, a strike or lockout is legal if it is in sympathy with or in support of a strike action taken by another worder or group of workers against their employer on account of an industrial dispute with the employer.
(2). A person who declares or instigates or incites others to take part in a strike or lockout or acts in furtherance of a strike or lockout which is illegal under subsection (1) is liable for any damage, loss or injury suffered by any other person as a result of the illegal strike or lockout.
(3) The form of a strike or lockout in sympathy with another body or organisation shall bi in a form agreed upon with the management or the sympathizers ans shall not disrupt the operational activities of the enterprise whose workers are sympathizers.
(4) Without prejudice to subsection (2) a worker who takes part in an illegal strike my have his or her services terminated by the employer without notice for breach of his or her contract of employment or may forfeit his or her remuneration in respect of the period during which he or she is engaged in the illegal strike.
(5) Without prejudice to subsection (2), an employer who resorts to illegal lockout is liable to pay the unpaid remuneration of the workers.
Prices of goods, services and commodities does not form part of any collective agreement and thus an employee in an establishment can not prevent that enterprise to reduce or increase the price of its goods, commodities and services.
Why did the TUC did not call on its members to go on strike when the cost of services was recently increased at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, also when school fees are increased.
We wrote last time that the T.U.C has never thought of itself of providing solar power to its head office and also a borehole to flush out toilets at the same place.
I hate when people criticize but are unable to make suggestions towards solving issues that are their alleged grievance.
The T.U.C. as want to eat an unpeeled and raw yam for dinner.
