When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

The fact is that with such benefit, the tax is still owed and should be made up to the Revenue Agencies by the Entity that employed this man and offered such waiver as benefit.
I expect those Revenue Agency officers to do their jobs, instead of wearing those big ties to the office and enjoying air-conditioning at state expense.

What I know is that in the event of a Waiver of this kind resulting in a benefit, the tax obligation is expected to be picked up by the organization doing the waiver. If no attempt is or was made to make it up, then this man may have been led into breaking the law. To my knowledge, no tax is waived unless expressly mandated by the legislature...in our case Parliament. That is the body endowed with the power to waive a tax or fees.
The only exemption(s) I know of in terms of salaries: that of the President (By the Constitution) and Minimum Wage earners.
Someone at the Revenue Agency should sit up and start collecting what is due.
Ignorance is no excuse. Chances are the IRA has a good case for collection from this CEO and GIPC.

First of all did you ask yourself why the present CEO is duly paying taxes like all responsible Ghanaians are and why the previous one should not have done so? Are they not all subject to the same conditions of service serving under the same organization and the same govt?
If I remember correctly, there are conditions in the constitution that allow specific persons or organizations and under specific conditions to be free from paying taxes. No organization or individual has the right to decide to willy-nilly or randomly grant themselves that privilege.
If action is not taken against this flagrant violation of the tax laws, I am afraid it may encourage others to also personally go out of their way to actively dodge their tax obligations. Somebody had better take some action on this matter.

This is very political so it deserves to be talked about in "political colors". What it may not be is Partisan. The reason the particular executive must get some flack is because as an enlightened Citizen, he should have offered to correct the error, even though he stood to benefit from it. His failure to do so tells of how unpatriotic our leaders are. Most of them condone corruption and cheating of the Public. They therefore choose only their cronies to fill such positions to keep them all quiet about mismanagement elsewhere. The politics of cheating the ordinary folks is what is pointedly displayed here.
The reason why it is political is also because of the absence of fundamental fairness in the taxation system that holds up our institutional structure for governance. We derive revenue from taxes which we need to run the State. And everyone of us in gainful employment is by our Constitution expected to pay taxes. Even the national Revenue Authority does not have the mandate to exempt anyone from paying taxes except the individual entity is by law supposed to be exempted. No institution's Board should bypass the GRI constitutionally derived guidelines to carve its own internal arrangement to escape taxation.
That is why Americans say the only two things that are guaranteed to them are Taxes and Death.
So long as we have a Nation we would have Taxes and all in good employment standing ought to pay their share.
Long Live Ghana!!!

These chief executives take advantage to rob the nation, all in the name of so-called expertize. They hardly bring anything new to the entities they manage.
Another area of abuse is the furniture and household equipment they get to keep when they leave govt service. They tend to ask for all new equipment like freezers, and furniture, three months before their terms expire. They pay panies on the dollar for their official vehicles.
This is a huge fraud perpetrated on the Ghanaian tax-payer.

If the poor Elementary School Teacher or petty Market vender is expected to pay taxes, why in the World should these top salary-drawers be exempted?

When officials leave office, the bad things they do always come out. Why is it so?
There are no checks and balances as part of the systems we put into place. It should be part of the arrangements to put into place checks to ensure that everybody does the right thing whether the person is a junior of senior official. The assumption is that the right things will be done but we end up seing filth after people have left their offices.
Dont we know the right things to look for or we are lazy to ensure that the right things are done.
We are always talking about institutions being allowed to work but we dont actually understand or mean the things we say about institutions. What does it take to allow institutions to work? These institutions should in themselves be accountable to some units and it should continue from that point.
It is hust sad that Mr Aboagye has to leave office before we know that he was not paying tax during his tenure sa CEo.
As long as we are not chosing the right leaders this country will continue along this line.
The question is who is the right leader for this country? The dependence on provision of physical infrastructure lends to chosing the wrong people. It is really enticing for potential leaders to speak about physical projects because that is where the massive frauds are committed too.
Implementing systems and structures are very key but do not involve frauds but rather prevents fraud.
The think tank institutions who portend to lead the way are also lost and they lead us on the wrong path.
If I tell the people of Ghana, give me the opportunity to serve you. The obvious answer will be that we dont know you. King David of Israel was just a shepherd but chosen by God to lead His people. It is not about riches or qualifications attained. It is about the qualities God has filled you with.
Ghana will continue on the wrong path of leadership for years to come.

They clear their goods without paying taxes and sell at maximum prices, only their sons and daughters are working at the ports that is why corruption goes on unaudited. They are the sellers and at the same time buyers of state properties so the prices are unreasonably low and the terms of engagement are very favorable and the deal is done under the cover of darkness. Above the law, when they pronounce you guilty, there is no appeal. Above the law, you have no chance if you are looking for justice and you ever encounter one of their family members or friends in court. You results are very good but no place for you in the university, nursing college etc because you do not have money to pay bribe, their wards go ahead of you. This is unbelievable and shameful of Mr. George Kwame Aboagye for intentionally evading his personal obligated tax. He should be made to pay all back taxes on his salary. This is very very serious issue when the poor cocoa farmer who toils on the land is made to pay taxes on his own produce which the Government dictate to buy it at its own price.
Mr. Terkper this is some of the areas you need to look at and address the ailing economy. There are more likewise situations in the Public and Private sectors that are playing negative to the present economic situation. Over taxation on the poor to pay the Public Sector workers will not help the economy in any way but rather will one day halt the entire economic activities in the country.
