Has the World Bank now realised the damage its policies are doing to poor vulnerable countries?
When it imposes structural adjustment programmes on poor countries, the first condition is to cut governmnet spending on all welfare schemes including health, education agriculture, water and energy provision. Growth may be achieved on paper but development to improve the quality of people's lives lags behind.
The WB and IMF should stop meddling in poor countries and instead offer concessionary loans and grants for real development and improvement to their lives.
