The tax-payer of Ghana has been funding this micro university ever since it was established, yet NDC stealers and foolsoldiers keep telling the world that the $50,000 award donated by the The World Hunger Project to the obese lunatic butcher,His Butchery Majesty Julor Jato Rawlings aka Togbui Avaklasu I the arsonist, which was used as seed money for the project is what funds the UDS till date.

Does the NDC stealers think and believe that Maaame/Daaavi Ghana's monies belong to them ?

Enough with the baloney and better provide funds for the purchase of chalks for our schools, which are now being bought from the pockets of teachers !

If not for 1981 coup, UDS would have been established in the 80s and not 90s, the $50,000 was for UDS library and not seed money for UDS, go check the records. As to whether it was properly applied is a different story.

We must learn to appreciate where praise is due.

Indeed, additional money was sourced as time went by and Kuffuor could have contributed immensely to the University's growth if he had added all his per diems accrued from his useless incessant travels abroad.

He donated his own personal prize money of USD50,000 to support the project (be it a library or even to buy books who really cares?

The fact is, I have condemned president Rawlings for some of his ill advised policies on education which leaves much to be desired but the fact is, he made a significant contribution to the project by first donating his own money and then committing government funds to support it.

Why can we not give credit where it is due? I am one of JJ's critics, but I believe he deserves this accolade for his singular effort. I think the previous government must be condemned for what they did in stopping it in the first place, hiding behind student "petition"!!!.

President Kufuor and his government must be ashamed of what they did. You may not like the man but be careful what you do unto others lest the same be visited upon you. I hope others will not treat Kufuor the same.

The president (Mahama) was right in making reference to the wrong that was done and I am glad he has stated it openly, and so he should.

When degrees from a particular country is award for political reasons, it debases all the degrees warded on merit from that country.
Rawlings does not have the intellect to deserve an award of a doctorate degree...It is a disservice and an affront to all those who earns degrees from Ghana by merit...

As a person, rawlings know deep inside him he does not deserve it..His intellectual measure was taken by WAEC many years ago, he failed, and that will remain his true measure..His inferiority complex lead him to hate and habor contempt for the educated ghanaians...He was the BOKO HARAM of ghana before the nigerians gave birth to it in Borno State. (HOKO HARAM translates to education is the problem). He slapped educated professionals, who out patriotism decided to serve ghana alongside him, just to satisfy his inner inferiority and hatred that he failed..He killed judges because he was hateful that he could achieve their status due to his own limitations...He brought havoc on a whole generation ...because of his inner demons, education limitations and inferiority....on the premise that even the ones who passed WAEC and achieve merit, he could slap and humiliate...To honor such a person with doctorate is another slap in the face of all the people he killed, and lives of professors, students and ghanaians he destroyed for no other reason and no fault of these ghanaians except for his rawlings limitations..

Mahama is the most divisive and useless president this country ever had. He has no plans in place to unite this country, and all his utterances at all functions are calculated to draw a wedge between NPP and NDC, a situation which does not auger well for the development of this country. One would have thought that after stealing the election results, and bribing his tribesman Justice Atubiga to steal the Supreme Court verdict for the second time, he would have the presence of mind and the wisdom to do things differently to unite this country. But Alas!
Anyway,when are the guinea fowls returning from Burkina Faso?
I wonder if Mahama would ever endorse Akufu Addo to be awarded an honorary Doctorate degree in any of the state Universities during his tenure of office. Look at the way Mahamah sabotaged Allan Kyeremateng's bid for the WTO position. Was it fair? At least we all witnesed the pivotal role JAK played in supporting Chambas for the ECOWAS slot,it was unprecedented.
I'm yet to see one good thing that Mahama has initiated to benefit all Ghanaians. Everything done is for card bearing supporters of the NDC, period.
If you need employment in Ghana now, go to the NDC Headquarters for a party card, and be prepared to function as a serial caller on the Airwaves for sometime, and the job would be yours for grabs . Is this nation building?

it was his duty to build institutions such as universities during his time he didn't, he won some money and gave that one out for the school to be built and you are honoring him .......its just so sad.....

Why does Mahama bring this issue up now? He should try to unite the country but his utterances always portray him to be otherwise. I now firmly believe mahama is somebody who would do anything to bring chaos into this country ...

I now firmly believe mahama is somebody who would do anything to bring chaos into this country because of his ineptitude in running the country. He is trying to side-step the real issues in the country and in doing so hope that ghanaians are going to re-focus on this useless issue. Ghanaians are not fools to be distracted by this.

I thank all those who helped to make this day came to be the honoured day of our ex-president. I principally thank our sitting president Mahama for his appreciation and approval, unlike ex-president Kufour and Akuffo Addo who were against the award of the honorary doctorate to Rawlings.

Despite everything Rawlings at certain times behaves like a small boy. At a time I even worried if it was true that the NPP led by Kufour influenced the UDS not to award that honour to Rawlings, because he Rawlings supported NPP and stupidly as well as fooslishly stood against Atta Mills for no good reasons.

If there may/might be reasons at all it could be reasons of hatred because of the defeat of his wife in the primary election to elect the leader of the NDC. In actual fact Rawlings needs to be a wise man in his actions and reactions, for sometimes he embarrases people who stand for him.
