Let me remind you that the bodyguard of the minister is a police officer who has the power to arrest that driver and also don't forget that this guy will say anything to get support from the likes of this MP who himself and many of his colleagues are the bad drivers on the roads.
I just returned from Ghana 3 days ago and can tell you that in addition to the bad roads in some areas the worse or hazards on the roads are these drivers especially these big truck drivers and since they always get away with these nonsense many of us always think of taking the law into our own hands by dealing with some of them if we can get hold of them.

I have been driving for a long time but I was scared to drive in Ghana when I visited
I agree that the police can arrest him. Even there could be a citizens arrest but the assault? NO.
Corney, If you ever lived at a police station and saw how people arrested for minor offences are treated, you shall be shocked. The police just slap people for nothing, just for being arrested.
The Regional minister should know how political his position is, the media looking for something to write about. He should rather have stopped the assault and not rather have the driver incarcerated until his car was fixed. What do we pay insurance for.

First, I welcome you back to this forum after a long absence. You need to read the story again. An accident had just happened and the bodyguard and driver of RM took to themselves to go around the traffic without activating the siren on the said vehicle, and the dump driver accidentally drive into their vehicle. From the report published in the story, it wasn`t the driver`s fault and did not deserve in the manner the Regional Minister and co treated them.
You live here in the US, do you think what they could have done that here? Let`s be for real. The Regional Minister and his group were wrong and the truck driver needs an apology from them.

Corney, I don't think these people drive on the roads in Ghana, particularly, Accra. If you get home every evening with your body in one piece, you would probably understand the frustration of these men who might have pummelled this tipper truck driver. Honestly, I would be dishing out a lot more of such pummelling if I had what it takes (if you know what I mean). Why be quick to give a political twist to this incidence? How would you react if somebody just missed killing you, acting in a wilful, irresponsible manner? Drivers in the UK, US and indeed in the advanced countries don't ordinarily behave the way drivers here in Africa, and Ghana in particular do. I am sorry for the troubles of the minister, but a few more pummelling of drivers will send the message home. I wish to get home in one piece everyday to see my kids.
