You are absolutely correct about Blogs and e-mail lists. The problem is that Ghanaians still do not use the internet the way they should. Those who do are teenagers with no purchasing power. Ghana has not matured yet when it comes to the internet so this creates a disincentive.

MOST GHANAIAN-OWNED BUSINESSES THINK THEY DO THEIR CUSTOMERS A FAVOUR, INSTEAD OF THE OTHER WAY ROUND.
TAKE POOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS IN GHANA AS A VERY CLEAR EXAMPLE. THIS EXISTS IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE AS WELL.
THAT'S WHY MANY GHANA BUSINESSES DO NOT STAND THE TEST OF TIME.
AS FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENTS, IT'S LIKE YOU'RE TALKING "JAZZ"!!!

You didn't consider INTERNET SECURITY ISSUES in Ghana.
They have hackers in Ghana, that come from all over the world.
With Ghana, being now cosmopolitan entity, there is the dangers in bumping into lots of these internet bad guys we call:
MALWARE,VIRUSES,SPYWARE,KEY STROKE LOGGER,HACKERS,always around the busiest websites.
Therefore,if they find one's website very operative, with volumes of clients/patronage,they will attack.
Even on Ghanaweb,I have been attacked on several occasions.
Therefore,I know what I am talking about.

Though you can't prevent them from hacking, you can minimize their chances of getting you: by acquiring the appropriate "antidote": regularly scanning yor system with anti-virus programs, setting up your Firewall properly, not opening mails from sources you don't know and taking a lot of other precautions.
Finally remember that you don't need to go on the web to attract viruses or trojan horses: any device that storage capacity can hoard malware: digital cameras, mobile telefones, MP3 players, pen drives etc and all thos that have SD/SDHC memories can transmit viruses.
Going back to the original article, I must comment that most Ghana-based sites are shallow, outdated and void of reliable information. I visited a site and noticed that it was last updated 3 years ago.
