"this is 2013, talent abound in ghana and in diaspora...no ghanaian talent is indispensable.....I live in the US and see ghanaians at the cutting edge in all sphere and at the most prestigious universities.....there is no any the first this or that any longer....the time for that is long gone...
This is the year 2013.....every project is market based...if you have good idea there are venture capital and private equity companies with a lot of money looking for a good idea to invest in....
Boateng can go talk to them...I am sure he knows that...so why this publicity stunt....if he wants to go the non-profit route too, he knows who to contact...He is not the smartest doctor or hospital administrator in ghana or from diaspora so he should give us a break.

Most people outside the country will be prepared to help, but will not support another politised government institution - your experience at Korle Bu should teach you otherwise. As controversial as a 'private' institution is, most people will see it as a credible center and may be willing to contribute. You can raise funds through direct voluntary contributions or through public offering as investors. The first step is to present a credible business plan.

People may want to contribute to such a noble cause but we can have the government to stop wastage and take interest in developments like that. Our governments do not set priorities right. This is what Prof. Frimpong Boateng should have started long ago. He has a proven track record in training heart specialists and saving many lives through his God-given talents and skills in surgery and his innovation in Cardio-thoracic surgery in the West Africa region.

What he failed to see was that this is his singular and perhaps his most important calling - to advance the cause of cardiovascular health in the region and be the champion for heart health in Africa. Instead, he has wasted his time, resources and energy trying to be president of Ghana.

What a real shame? If he had pursued his original goal of setting up and expanding the facilities, he would have had a lot of financial support from benevolent sources and statutory help such as he got from president Jerry Rawlings at the time when he was setting up at Korle-Bu and the powers that be in Surgery and medicine at the time tried to frustrate him. I recall vividly his attack of some big names in surgery at the time who were trying to 'hijack' what was clearly his 'baby'..

Having succeeded in setting up and doing a brilliant job, it seemed to have got into his head. He became hospital administrator and did some good things there and so his next step was to become president!!!

To me, this fine surgeon and pioneer has lost his way and it seems he was thinking on his feet when Errol Barnnett of CNN was interviewing him. If he truly wanted to build more centres, why on earth has he been wasting his time in politics, something he is clearly not good at.

I am pleased that he seems to be going back to basics and I wish him well. For he is a fine surgeon, innovator and trainer and he should stick to what he knows best, and ask government (or all colours) to help him meet his objectives. I will personally campaign for him if he were to embark on such a path instead of wasting his time trying to lead the country.

Each of us have a spcific talent given to us by our maker. The trick is to know what your talents, strengths and weaknesses are, and focus your time and energy on trying to achieve something with what your maker gave you during our short tenure on this planet. The good doctor got sidetracked by vanity and blind ambition by entering the dirty arena of Ghanaian politics.

His goal is a noble one, and I am glad he is back to basics. I will contact him and donate to this project.

i admire the heart surgeon for the amazing work he has done at the Cardiothoracic center. However, I think he missed the point. Heart disease kills more poor people in the developed world than the rich because of the high caloric diets and fat they consume.In Ghana the reverse is true we eat all these western diet very rich in fat and transfat in the name of affluence.As a result alot of people are afflicted with Diabetics, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart disease some of which can be prevented with good public health measures and education and by the way that is what President Obama wants to do in the USA now. When people develop heart attacks do we have any simple measures that can be used to treat them ???( recognizing it is a heart attack giving aspirin, some cholesterol lowering medication,, oxygen, blood thinners and pain medications), do we have cardiac centers where those needing cardiac catheterization and stent placement can be done ???? Even in USA cardiothoracic surgery has lost alot of its flare because just by offering simple cardiac catherization and stenting they are able to prevent cardiac bypass surgeries and I will suggested to the Prof to rather look into that because it kills more productive people than the whole in heart cases which are relatively cold cases and can easily be transported to Accra for care but the acute treatment of myocardial infarction( heart attack is extremely time dependent and we need to work to train our cardiologist in interventional techniques and have atleast a center in each region to save lives. Let us as a nation move away from attributing every chest pain to pneumonia and malaria.

Many Ghanaians in his capacity would do nothing but show off their academic and/or professional achievements.

Kwabena is not like that. Kwabena could have lived a very comfortable life in Germany or any part of the world. Yet, as he has said before, he "will sacrifice his life for Ghana". How many Ghanaians think like that?

Let's all rally behind him and find him the support he needs to accomplish his dream for Ghana. Maybe Bill Gates Foundation will come to his aid. Or President Kufuor can use his office at the United Nations to assist the Professor. Let us Pray for Him because he is trying to help Ghanaians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does he has to wait till he is almost rusted now, engulfed in politics and almost too late to now be dreaming of such huge projects. Did it not take Rawlings to see the Korle Bu centre established. The time Prof. should have done what he is dreaming of now was when his party, the NPP was in power between 2001 and 2009. I guess he luring unsuspecting donors to provide him funds so he can campaign with for the 2016 general elections

As a selfless and learned surgeon you sought political leadership to apply your surgical technicians to cure the nation of its heart disease with a pure heart intentions. But the NPP and Ghana would not give you the chance.Your work has got to do with saving lives and not wounding hearts as most leaders in Africa would do. So I am Ok that you were not given the nod.
Keep your drive alive. I do not have the funds but I know your dream is realizable and many out there who have the funds will remember you. How many learned Ghanaians would abandon colossal salaries in Europe or the Americas and come home to help their motherland?? Some other specialists might try to but certainly not a heart surgeon. Those who can shout/insult have take over the country and most brainy Ghanaians have either decided to stay outside the country in the whiteman's land and suffer racism or remain quiet in the country. It amazes me how the NPP would bypass such a selfless, well-educated visionary to seek a Flagbearer elsewhere.

In spite of the vicious way the Mills' Administration and some Greater Accra leaders treated him, he did not seem to have given up his efforts to expand his philanthropic service to the needy all over the Country, and advancing the Nation!

If Allan's pairing with Dr. Bawumia does not seem possible, tapping Dr. Frimpong Boateng could be the best option. If the NPP does not want him, the other Parties like the CPP should seriously approach him to seek his leadership for the Flagbearer slot and I bet my bottom dollar he would win the Presidency, given the current chaos around NPP and people's growing distrust for NDC.

Right now, Ghana is hungry for a dependable, selfless leader with vision, irrespective of his Partisan background . Our post-HIPC and oil Economy demands some stabilized sustained growth and only some unifying truly patriotic leader can deliver.

Thanks to the Doctor for his indefatigable efforts to not only save our lives but also improve our general standard of living across the board.
