This will not be a smart move and the proponents can best be described as selfish and greedy buffoons. Has those so call big shots forgotten the maxim that democracy comes with a price? Let them try and see how many of us will go independent. And to make it clear to those who are grumbling with the party, any equation of the flag bearer without Bawumia will give the tribal haters the upper hand to continue their loot .

That's why I call Ghana a "banana republic." You all claim that you're practicing DEMOCRACY and your ass is going to suppress aspiring candidates for parliament? Wouldn't the primaries be based on "competency, merit & competition?" How has the party paid for the primaries in the past?
I don't know whether this proposal is true or not, but for the sake of competition in a democracy, nobody should come out with such CRAZY idea.
If the party has no money to run the primaries, then they should pack up their marbles and go home, so other parties like the CPP, KKK, KGB, CIA , CID & BNI can register to compete in 2016.
Does that mean non-MPs do not contribute to the Part's coffers? if they do what happens to those with parliamentary ambitions?

what is wrong with our party bigwigs? Do they reason well? Why all these foolish proposals including the suggestion that the presidential candidate of the party should be elected before primaries to elect other categories of executives? If gradually we have lost the Ga support base of the party and currently losing in as many as eight regions out of the ten, is it not time for us to do some self assessment and find out what is happening to us? Are we even aware that performance is no longer a parameter to measure a government's success? Is the NPP watching the sort politics the NDC is doing? Indeed, they understand the thinking of the typical Ghanaian better. The NPP should continue to be talking about GDP, infrastructural development and other things that the typical semi-illiterate Ghanaian would not even appreciate. NPP be wise and stop the pursuance of unproductive ,self destructive adventures and learn from the simple politics of working with grassroots, chiefs, clan leaders, exploiting tribal sentiments (eg. sale of Ga lands)getting involved in festivals celebrations, sponsoring Mecca trips, taking pastors to Israel(pilgrimage), market women politics among others.

Although the idea is laudable and will help cut cost for political parties, this is surely not the best way to go as it will give the green light to non performing MPs to be re-elected.

Whilst the grassroots of the party is boiling with the yearning for change at all levels of the party, the big men sitting in Accra are power-drunk with their own "winner-takes-all" schemes hoping to tighten their control over the party in order to become the king-makers. They take us the footsoldiers who toil day and night to keep the hopes of loyal NPP supporters afloot, for fools and ignoramuses. They think we believe their propaganda and infantile rationalisations. We will boot out party executives and parliamentarians who cost us the elections whether they like it or not. No amendment can protect candidates who in our assessment are leading as no where. The time has come for the national executives themselves to be booted out of power. But first they must embrass themselves sufficient so that they leave in shame. This party collectively belongs to all bonafide member and not only the few potbellied greedy adults with sharp teeth, who have enriched themselves in opposition by starving the structures of cash in order to control ever lever of power. Winner-takes-all cost us our defeat in 2008, and 2012, but that is the only strategy our currently leaders and two successive campaign teams can wrap their minds and arms around for now.

My suggestion to the NPP is to sell narcotic drugs to raise funds for their campaign. Democracy behooves on us to allow everyone the chance to contest if they so with not to impose candidates on the members

NPP needs to be warned that their MPs have taken their seats for granted especially in the Ashanti Region where they think 'come what may the people would vote for them'. The loss of the 2012 elections was due to the fact that the MPs stayed at their homes and the NDC had a field day at the polls. Fail to give us a chance to choose serious working MPs and you are in for another shock defeat. We are fed up with lazy MPs who take us for granted.
