This honour given you by the private university should never have made you to lose your mind. I thought you were well past praise-singing and sycophancy. Did you feel you must become a stomach professor just to pay them for the sumptuous lunch or the envelope you were expecting? With hindsight I am sure you will feel embarrassed to read what you were supposed to have said. This leaves me with only Dan Botwe and Arthur Kennedy as persons I believe will make a difference to our lives if given the chance. Prof, you are finished - your career is went with the lunch provided by the Garden City University College in Kumasi.
To give our money to private business people to make money for themselves? Let this stomach professor know that any such move will not bring down the fees these shark private universities charge by even one peseta!

Private must remain private and government must remain government. This strategy of capitalist sterling from the masses for their benefits must be stopped.
Government funds and initiatives must be left to grow and innovate to bring relief to the poor while the private should also be left to innovate to show how much they are worth to society

I RESPECT DR FRIMPONG SO MUCH BUT I SERIOUSLY DISAGREE WITH HIS TOHUOGHT THAT PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES SHOULD BE FUNDED WITH GETFUND RESOURCES. I AM OF THE VIEW THAT THE MAIN AIM OF THE PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES ARE TO MAKE MONEY AND TRAINING OF GRADUATES IS JUST A BY PRODUCT OF THEIR DESIRE TO MAKE MONEY. GOVERNMENT CAN WAVE TAXES WHEN THEY IMPORT EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL,EQUIPMENT AND OTHERS BUT NOT GETFUND RESOURCES. PUBLIC UNIVERSITY IS MORE AFFORDABLE TO THE GHANAIAN THAN A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY. IT THEREFORE MAKES A LOT OF SENSE FOR GETFUND RESOURCES TO BE USED TO EXPAND AND MAKE PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES MORE AFFORDABLE TO GHANAIANS THAN TO USE IT TO EXPAND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES TO PUT MORE MONEY IN THE POCKET OF THEIR OWNERS. USING GETFUND MONEY TO EXPAND PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES WILL PUT MORE GHANAIANS IN SCHOOL THAN USING IT TO EXPAND PRIVATE ONES PERIOD.

Private universities are really contributing to the development of human capital. There is no doubt about it. It must also be put on record that these private universities are private investments by individuals to make money and to improve on shareholder value, that is why their charges are very exorbitant. Their charges are not reasonable as noted in the public universities.
If these universities want to benefit from the Getfund then they must be ready to reduce their charges to the level almost close to the public universities. The Getfund is derived from the tax payer and cannot be used to support the investment of an individual who is making profit for his/her private use.
This admission is really creating problem for parents and guardians especially in the public universities. In a situation where demand seems to be larger than supply, there is bound to corruption. The authorities in thec public universities are taking advantage to demand bribes before placements are given to students, sometimes these students are not qualified per the criteria. By allowing these students placements, we are indirectly denying those students who qualify per the criteria for admission.
But in all these the politicians are to be blamed for creating this difficulty for the ordinary man on the street. The politician is not paid by the taxpayer to create problem but rather to solve problem. This business of policy of 3 years against 4 years educational period has created all the challenges being faced by guardians and parents. But these parents learn at all by the way the politicians are treating them?

Yes, i do agree that private universities should have some government support. At the same time the government should have the right to set a ceiling to the tuition fees they charge. The fees are high because they are not getting government funding. Fund them and let it be accessible to poorer students.

Private universities are private businesses and are for profit organisations. They charge students for the services they provide and students who attend these institutions are aware that they are buying education services from these private businesses.
Why should state funds go these for profit institutions. If there must be state funds it must go to the students and not the institutions. However since there is no free university education in Ghana the state must not fund these for profit businesses.
No state funds to support for these parasite companies.
