The Security Coordinator, who if I am not wrong also has a law degree, is promoting human security through national security. It is in line with the UN charter. It is in line with the African Charter on human rights and it is in sync with the constitution of Ghana; it also reflects the people-centred development approach the government is trying to promote. But the people must been seen to be pushing for this approach. Long live Ghana.

You cannot prevent markets from being burnt and government institutions from sabotage yet you want to talk about electing DCE's.
In our current political dispensation it will be suicidal for anyone to think of electing DCE's. Some areas will never get one due to the extreme politicization of all issues especially by those who are elected.
Everything Mahama is bad to NPP and everything Nana Addo is bad to NDC.
Even the release of common fund is politicized.

Kuffour and the NPP had an opportunity to correct a major flaw in Ghana's adminstrative set up. Through what I believe was a careful anaysis of the system , NPP proposed the election of DCEs. This idea was bought into by majority of Ghanaians including some NDC inclined voters like me. But NPP under Kuffour lacked the political will to carry it out when the opportunity presented itself. The position is seen as a job opportunity to compensate for failed candidates in parliamenatary elections and other party functionaries. As jobs for the boys as Kuffour soon learnt, it was therefore unthinkable to share such jobs with your opponent thereby granting it a say in govt, what it failed at the polls. Secondly, NPP viewed the position of DCE from the NDC era to be one for channelling Goverment funds and resources to party activities at the grass roots, never mind the jargon of local development. Lastly, it was suicidal,as Kuffour soon found out to allow the elections of DCEs, where in opposition strongholds, these might lead to the consolidation power in these areas in the hands of the opposition and make it impossible for the NPP to win any such seats there. Having failed to carry out a manifesto promise and having lost the elections in 2008, the NPP could not hold NDC to task on this issue. The incoming NDC did not find it morally binding to carry it out, after all, the originator of the idea had long abandoned it. So we are back to square one, where for political convenience and domination,a very good idea, conceived out of a geniune desire to depoliticise local govt, has been killed right at birth. This NPP - NDC duopoly must give way for real development. This winner take it all approach is killing the country, as it leaves no room for apolitical development. This DCE election issue should be taken up by all, irrespective of party affiliation. We need trully patrotic Ghanaians, not just these elephants and umbrellas.

Where as is good to come from a particular district and must take the opportunity to serve them with all your heart and empathy, I think that by not electing DCEs we relegate some of the best brains we have just because they don,t reside there. The truth is that it is easy to appreciate the problems the districts have with rapid assessment and just by listening and involving the people. All we need to serve our people is selflessness, empathy, innovation. But the important quality is that we need people who would not chop the poor people's monies with cronies and family members

Hey Kwame! Iam sorry that you live in Maryland in USA but you are very deficient in worldly wisdom of politics. Maybe, either you do not have the guts to understand my point or you did not have the said "respected brains in the society"which you referred to. My point is Mr Gbevlo-Lartey as a citizen of Ghana has every right to engage in any national issue, but I repeat BUT,once he is the National Security Coordinator appointed by the President and as a public figure he forfeits that rights and toe the line of the one who appointed him ie. the President.Other than that he has to resign. This is not the first time this topic is being discussed. It was Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom who brought it up as one of platform points in his manifesto during the last elections. But the NDC and the President rejected that idea. But now that Mr Gbevlo-Lartey a leading NDC member and an appointee of the President says he is for it,whose views should we accept Mr. Gbevlo-Lartey's or the NDC and the Presidet's? Let me give you a common sense analogy which you will easily understand. Take for instance if President Obama proposed that he is going to bomb Syria because President Assad used chemical weapons on his own people and if Mr Thomas Dolinon,Obama's National Security Advisor comes out in public to say that he is against the bombing of Syria what do you think would be the reactions of Americans on President Obama's administration? This is what Mr.Gbevlo-Lartey is doing now in Ghana. Being the National Security Coordinator and a public figure his hands are tired to make any speeches that are different from his boss and the NDC. Other than that he has to quit his job for someone who sides with the Party and the President. My goodness Kwame,if you do not know this elementary thing politics then you are a novice in the game. Do not jump into any poilitical debate just because you are in Maryland,USA. Take it easy and learn from the pros. That is my little advice to you.Bye.

We The People need your focus directed against exploiters and destroyers of our environment. The act of Galamsey operations by foreign nationals and Ghanaians alike is really an attack against mother Ghana. Though the government is making small in roads into weeding out this act of galamsey, the nation as a whole must rise up in arms against galamsey. As an esteemed soldier, and head of national security, the impact of galamsey is really setting us 100 years behind in our attempt to be a fully independent sovereign country. Indians, Pakistanis, Chinese as well as other foreign nationals have infiltrated our governmental and local agencies and have bribed their way into rendering our laws and regulations useless. They roam about destroying vegetation, rivers, violating human rights etc. and our once proud locals have been rendered to a life of servitude and abuse all in the name of Galamsey!! This must Stop. It is our Appeal to you to stand up and Declare an "All Out War" on Galamsey Activities in Ghana. This must stop!! What if we lose our forests, rivers, streams, underground aquifer systems to dangerous chemicals as a result of Galamsey. Who will replant our forests, who will clean up our polluted rivers?, who will protect our farms? These are Real Questions demanding Real Solutions From all and Sundry. We need to re educate our citizens on the harmful effects of Galamsey. No one wins except the filthy Pakistanis', Indians, Britt's, and other foreign nationals actively engaged in destroying our lands and rivers. We need people like you to step up to the plate and make this a National Calamity. We need A National Awareness on The Harmful effects of Galamsey. Help Us Save our Country, Our Lands etc., After all no Ghanaian can go into any country abroad and destroy their environment , rivers etc. without been thrown into some stinky jail.
