the natural foodstuffs from natural crops have natural constituents which prevent diabetes, bp, strokes, heart attacks, impotence, cancer, fibroids, tumours, etc etc but gmo foods and crops are deficient in these preventive components so they are simply deadly .....we will begin to experience all forms of preventable health conditions as gmo foods gradually take over our GOD-GIVEN NATURAL FOODS....BUT OUR POLITICIANS ARE READY TO BETRAY GHANA BY GIVING IN TO THE DEMANDS OF THESE MULTI NATIONAL COMPANIES...WE ARE DEAD IN THE HANDS OF OUR POLITICIANS WHO TEAM UP WITH FOREIGNERS TO SELL MOTHER GHANA...ESPECIALLY THE PRESENT CROP OF GREEDY YOUTHS WHO HAVE ENTERED OUR BODY POLITIC....GOD HELP GHANA.

After use of Monsanto’s BT cotton in 2002 the rate of suicide in Indian farmers increased drastically. 90% of Indian cotton farmers changed to Monsanto’s Bt crop hoping that Bt crop are pest resistant and they do not have to buy pesticides. However after a while Bt cotton’s pests resistant quality started fading away and pests adapted so farmers had no choice but to buy and use Monsanto's pesticides. The fact that farmers have to buy new seeds every year, the costly use of GM seeds, use of pesticides and great reduction in crop value have often times left farmers bankrupt and as a result many farmers are falling into the endless cycle of debt, depression, hopelessness and despair and they have no choice but to ends their lives. The figures provided by NY University School of Law show that just in 2009 alone, 17,638 of farmers committed suicide.
As a result of Monsanto’s GM seeds many families of farmers have lost their livelihood and lands and are left on their own to struggle with starvation and misery. 1.1 billion or 60% of Indian population are directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture. You have to give Monsanto credit for dominating the market with their GM seeds. Farmers are forced to buy their seeds, buy their pesticides and buy new seeds every year and every time their crops fail and as a result farmers have no choice but to give up on their farm lands or their lives while Monsanto makes more profit every year.

You folks do not know what you are talking about. Ask Jehu Appiah if he knows where the corn which was used to make the cornflakes that his son eat this morning went school comes from? And does he know where and how it was grown? Let this timewasters and anti science and knowledge people find something to do. African farmers will make their own choices in the face of the evidence.

(Y) Monsanto’s domination is threatening sustainable organic farming and livelihood of Indian farmers and health of all of us as consumers. Thanks to biotech companies what was once a sustainable diverse way of agriculture is now ruined into unsustainable globalized agribusiness in hands of few people consumed by greed and power. We as consumers cannot even choose to boycott GMOs since these biotech companies like DuPont and Monsanto give millions of dollars to lobbyists to bribe politicians in order to aggressively pursue their anti-labeling policies. Think again or do your due diligence on GMO. Would you eat pesticides? GMO corn have pesticides placed in the seed supposedly to prevent insects from eating it. If insects would not eat it, is it good for human consumption.

By the way farmers will be FORCED to purchase seeds for planting every year should they embrace GMO. GMO seeds are one time deal. Monsanto is the DEVIL of them all. American farmers are spied on, taken to court if they do not comply. FGS, please fight the good fight. Thank you.
