The way they drive on that piece of raod is horrible. I was in Ghana for seven weeks perched at Adenta and within that period three major acidents took place with a total of 17 deaths!

The unfortunate thing is that those who are supposed to know better, are equally guilty of this recklessness. Imagine joining a major road from a minor road and instead of stopping at the intersection, they zoom straight onto the major road without looking to see if it is clear for them to proceed. A well dressed and supposedly respectable man almost run into my car because he failed to stop and observe whether it was safe for him to join the major road from a minor road.

To top it all, people walk on the streets without any regard to their safety and to the vehicles, forgetting that these vehicles are mechanical devices that can develop any brake failures anytime or which can run into them. They walk on the street unconcerned that they are on the street, some with their backs even turned to the vehicles.

Now I see animals also behaving the same way. A dog resting in the middle of the street just raised its head when I hooted, looked at me and continued with its nap. Those around who saw what was going on had to come to drive it away. The dogs in my house also have the same attitude. They would not move when I was coming to park my car.

I really don't know what is going on in Ghana, but there is too much indiscipline in the system that if something is not done, Ghana will descend into a lawless society one day soon.

As a result, there are some routes that I do not drive on - Kwame Nkrumah circle, Korle Bu road, and a few. When I am going to those places, I take a cab and leave the car behind.

The authorities have to do something about the madness that goes on - the over-speeding, the cutting offs, joining roundabouts with speed instead of allowing those who have the right of way and already in the roundabouts to move before they join; the list goes on and on.

Driving in Ghana is like sitting on pins and needles.

Cab drivers are the mosr careless drivers in town. Perhaps they were all trained by same Master!!

Good roads infrastructure to minimize accidents should be the focus factor and concern of the government of the day and the country would be opend up for the accelerated development which we so desire.
