I suspect strongly that this coach, Kwesi Appiah, though loved by many (and I refuse to mention names, tribes, teams or any affiliations), knows very well that Ghana is gifted with talented footballers.
And he could RELY heavily on the best ones for IMPORTANT matches. Thus, he doesn't really care much about some of these matches. Fact is, I wonder if he has genuine tactics of his own.

Nyantakyi does not feel comfortable having a black man as the coach, you were hired as a result of tremendous pressure put on them by the fans and now you are "fooling around" From now on, you have to be your own man, if a match is not right, do not play it, tell them NO! it is not right. Look at the Spain example, every match is well planned and executed to success and that is why they are at the top all the time.

The German boss’ impact on the US team since taking the reins two years ago can hardly be overestimated. He has injected a new optimism, made strides toward what he calls a “more proactive and less reactive” football and his enthusiasm is contagious. Bringing in overseas options like Fabian Johnson and Mix Diskerud, the entire complexion of the US team has changed. In demanding his players play week in and week out for their clubs, he has created an atmosphere with no one guaranteed a spot.

I think Appiah made it clear that no one is guaranteed a spot and I think the players get the message. Ghanaians need to calm down.

Who is a good coach ? a good coach in my opinion is the one whose team wins most matches and a good team is a team with good players that wins most matches that's why you have coaches like Mourhino ,Ferguson ,Guadiola being good coaches because they always coach gifted and talented players in their various teams ,have you heard or seen one of the above mentioned coaches go for a bottom team on the league table to coach ? Leave Mr Kwesi Appiah alone to do his job ,so far he is winning and on course to Brazil 2014 ,if there is any coach in Ghana who is who is better than Appiah let's engage him to assist Appiah for now as we are one Nation one peolpe one destiny and if we don't qualify for Brazil 2014 or go and mess up then we look for the next necessary steps .Let's give our coach Mr Appiah the support he needs and encourage our boys to victory and stop accusing them when they lose and hail them when they win . I am not surprised because this thinking typifies what we as Ghanaians think. Watch Black Stars play, and it wouldn't take long for anyone but Kwesi Appiah to see that we don't play with any working plan. If we think we can prosper with this idea, sorry, we can't make it.

Ghanaians get too emotional and are quick to ask for a coach to be fired and for new players to be called. Friendlies are a great time to assess what we have. We all like to win but sometimes a loss is a blessing in disguise. Even in the qualifiers, the loss to Zambia in the first game was a wake up call. When Appiah went on to win the rest of the games without the Ayews and some other big names it gave confidence to some other players who needed that time to grow. In the US, when the USA lost their first hexagonal game to Honduras people were upset but they quickly realized it was just a bump in the road. There are going to be bumps in the road and people will get upset. At the end of the day, if the team is good and they have CONFIDENCE, they will find a way. I believe this team will find a way through the playoff and find a way when they go to the WC.

On one hand, I shall always do my best to support him. However, I think the GFA has not solved our coaching problem.

In the best interest of our beloved nation; I would recommend that we look for a more sophisticated coach, and make Coach Appiah his assistant.

Black Stars don't live up to their respect. Passes were poor and inaccurate, boys couldn't run, careless and casual when our opponents were focused. What do the assistants do to help Appiah? Please take the players to gym to strengthen their bodies. Skill without strength is useless in a competition like World Cup. Practise how to pass unselfishly. Work on corners; don't always head towards the goal. Heading backwards for a team mate to strike is good technique.
WE HAVE TO BECOME TOUGH, FAST & SKILFUL!!! Where are the Duncans,etc.?

i have insisted that the blackstars assistant handlers cannot compair favourably to say nigeria or cameroun in terms of pedigree, quality and know how. all the technical men on the blackstars bench with the exception of kwesi appiah do not have any international exposure during their playing days. i think the furtherest maxwell konadu went was with the meteors. i know saban quaye played for olympics and nasamu for hearts both briefly with no international or continental exposure both at club or national level.
ghanaian players hardly could string accurate passes; they could hardly control impecably except a few.

Only the best players must be assembled to represent Ghana at all times. Thus, only success must be expected and welcomed by a genuine BS coach.

Did Appiah think he was experimenting with Japan - a team that has beaten Ghana 6 times to 1? What kind of sheepish, surrendering mentality is that? Only the best is good for Africa - no half measures!

With the lose-is-good mentality he has, I doubt if his coaching expectations augers well for the BS's success at the FIFA World Cup - if we get there.

Failure is no option for the Black Stars!

The bottom line is cash. The appearance fee was more important to GFA than the results. Japan has already qualified for Brazil. This is why GFA CANNOT handle "big" players and foreign coaches who will not be pushed around.

I never watched the game but most probably whe Ghana was down by 2goals to 1 Kwasi as usual stood on the touch line like the chief executive of a multi-national company, He could not think of any tactics.

May be Appiah has lost focus of the fact that this thing of the current Black Stars "losing focus" has become an established trend these days. It happened when Ghana led 2-0 against Congo in the recently concluded African Nations' Cup. It happened when Ghana played Japan in Ghana, after the latter took a 2-0 lead, but, lost focus and lost 3-4. It happened with last week's match against Zambia when the Stars turned into zombies in the second half. It happened in this match against Japan.This is a team that lacks confidence and a sense of purpose.

Aside of this thing of "losing focus," our "passing game" is still poor, and, our team work ineffective.You cannot build a solid winning team when you are always "experimenting." You do not face a team like Japan, hoping to experiment; you must do so with confidence and a winning purpose, especially, with the World Cup in mind. I am one of those who want Appiah to succeed, but, it seems to me that he would have to double up in several departments of the game to become a successful coach.

What a shame it always is when our coaches and leading players praise the "technical workout" of the opposing team, as they did during the African Cup of Nations and after the recent match against Zambia. Coach Appiah must get the grip, fasten his belt, and, work hard to prune a winsome, enviable and technical Black Stars; a team that would always make all of proud. I do know about other Ghanaians, but, this 1-3 loss to Japan was a disgrace, which was bound to happen.

It is about time coach AA should select his best 25-man squad and keep them to ensure cohesion because the World cup is just around the corner. I think among the up and coming players these stars are doing very well, Warris, Atsu and Frank Acheampong should be given the green light. The likes of Rashid, Solo, Inkoom, Albert, Richard Kissi Boateng,Yusif, Otoo should find their place in Black Stars team [B],These experienced players should also be given the second chance, Akaminko,John Mensah[when fit] and youngster Richard Yiadom-Boakye Lastly hoping Isaac Vorsah will return soon.

Let's get serious. This does not know what he is doing. I believe some of the players would have found out by now but cannot say because they may be left out of the team. Let some of these players confide in trusted sports journalist so we expose some of their frustrations. He keeps changing the team for every game. Oh my God what is wrong with this guy?
