It was the power hungry Raila Ojinga who was stoking the embers of violence and whose supporters were yelling "No Raila,no peace".This is the one person who should be held most accountable for the violence and even his recent acceptance of defeat was just a realization that other roads to power like the low level incitement he tried to stoke had to have serious consequences on him.The man has never accepted electoral defeat and he was most responsible for the deadly violence.

Crimes against humanity, genocide, mass murder are all egregious crimes no matter where they are committed. The curious and most unfortunate reality is that, when NATO countries use sophisticated lethal weapons to kill Libyans, under dubious UN mandate, it is called protection of civilians. When the US and its allied forces use cluster bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan it is termed "fitting war on terror". But when machetes, claps and sticks are used in some conflicts in Africa you define it as crimes against humanity. Why is the US funding the ICC but refuses to ratify the Rome status? Why is Israel not a signatory to the Rome status? The duplicitous antics of the World most powerful countries as regards their definition of justice is obvious. I find it heart breaking that Africans also allow themselves to be slaved by these antics. AFRICA MUST UNIT TO DEAL WITH THESE MATTERS, ELSE WE WILL CONTINUE TO BE MERE MINDERS IN OUR OWN LAND. Our intellectuals who should lead this fight are rather unfortunately signing the praises of these world powers. Maybe there is hope.

The usual gang went to war looking for weapons of mass destruction that didn't exist with impunity. Did the United Nation have even one vote to condemn that war? Was anyone held responsible for the massive death that resulted? Where is justice for those who died? Dick Cheney broke Nigerian laws with impunity. Only the less fortunate ones have to face justice.
If it takes impunity for Africans who commit atrocities to let the world know that what goes around comes around, so be it. Honorable Kofi Annan will have more credibility if he writes about the injustice in the mighty having impunity as well.
