During the last year or so its has become clear to almost every child the ethnocentric racist anti Akan vicious propaganda directed mainly against the innocent Ashanti and Akyems .Even here on this forum we witness the daily insults , defamation and systematic character assination of any Akan leader who dares raise his voice to cry foul. The Akans lead by the Fantis are fighting back just as they in the early 90's with prof eduboahen and this happened last year after the murder of Mills. these ewe and northerners think if they bribe a few paramount chiefs and buy off Akuffo Addo as they have done they can go back to the business of looting the coffers but not so . They are overwhelmed by the resistance which is being lead by the family heads and the clans . since most the people here writing under false Akan names dont see the difference continue to harass the ashantis and akyems who by the way rarely ever contribute anything to this forum . this prof awonoor has mislead his people into a war they will surely loose , battle after battle they are pounded and bashed , the sophistication of their devious divide and rule strategy has been exposed and backfired ,today the Akans are more united than ever so much so the the Ashantis and akyems no more participate but are standing on the sidelines watching as they are surprised at the fury and determination of the rest of the Akans to rid themselves of this yoke of oppression. Akans will never peacefully accept to be second class citizens like the Indians in Latin America and fight the hegemony and tribalism with these same tools rather than just brushing it off and pretending it doesn't exist . the battle-lines have been drawn in the minds of every Ghanian and as things escalate the business of governance is slowly grinding to a halt soon from verbal warfare we move to open rejection of the govt of the day which will most likely end up in true war . we can not build and develop a sustainable economy if the ayigbe and pepeni can only be focused on the destruction of the Akans and looting the wealth of the nation , sadly when we say this all they say is that their hate is justified and their time has come to chop some . let it be known Akans make up almost 70% of the population, have 90% of the wealth and natural resources and that this govt that practically has less than 10% Akan participation is illegitimate and even the foreign banks and investors have noticed this and are withdrawing , the rest like the Chinese , Indians , Muslim Lebanese and Turkish will soon risk never being paid . billions have been borrowed but nobody has seen any benefits but it has ended up in the bottomless pits of the greed of the ndc pepeni and ayigbe . we propose secession as a peaceful exit to this mess , if persuasion fails force will be applied , long live the republic of Akan

The petition asked the Supreme Court to review and set aside the declaration by a public body. The petition in essence was a judicial review of the highest order. And yet it violated the cardinal principle which states that " he who come to equity must come with clean hands". There are 26,002 polling stations in Ghana. The petitioners chose 24,000 pink sheets and wanted the Supreme Court to declare the first petitioner President of the Republic of Ghana based on their selected sample of polling stations.

This is where the petition should have been thrown out. It was unwholesome and tendered in bad faith and yet we had Judges in the Supreme Court of Ghana who ruled that the petitioners indeed had a case and that votes should be annulled and the election should be re-run. How bankrupt, unlearned and partisan can they get. Any wonder we are still a third world country. In the 1960's under Nkrumah, our GDP was higher than Malaysia and South Korea. 50 years on Samsung is a Technological giant and we still wallow in poverty and our so called intellectuals so punch drunk.

Come to think of it this chap who wants to become President is so tainted with a dubious character. As Attorney General, dockets of drug mules went missing. He was so daft as to personalize a court hearing in the Presidents name as in Kuffour v Tsikata. As Foreign Minister his drug baron relations were given diplomatic passports. He used violence to secure his party's Presidential candidature. Even the omens don't favour him. His last show piece of a rally had a collapsing stage. GOOD RIDDANCE.

Whenever I read a piece like this, it reminds me of how shallow minded some of our folks could be. This nation called Ghana is older than any of her present occupants and so shall it perpetually be. what this mean is that, whether Asanti, Bono, Fanti, Ewe or Pepeni as you prefer to call our siblings from the north can be elected as president for a particular time frame. A political power is held momentarily on behave of the people and no one, not even Nkrumah or Rawlings could have had stopped power from changing hands. As to whether "Ayigbe" or "Pepeni" legitimately wins an election and becomes a president is of no significance to most akans. What generally a Ghanaian need is to look up to country where decent accomodation and nutritious diet do not become the reserved of the rich and most powerful in our society.
A nation where it is possible to make two hour journey from Kumasi to Aflao or from Mampong to Wa on either a high speed road or railway.This tribal divisiveness can not yield any dividend. Its only to derail our little efforts over the years. I am sorry,this stance would not wash.

You decided to ask a supreme court to nullify the legal votes of innocent voters in order that your party's candidate would win. Obviously you knew that you lost the elections at the polling station, otherwise you would have asked for a recount of the votes instead of seeking total annulment. The reasons had nothing to do with the voter. So Akuffo Addo really wanted to become president through the annulment of over 4 million votes? Really? Your reasons are that some presiding officers did not sign; duplicate serial numbers etc, which had nothing to do with the voter. You stated that you trusted the SC judges to give you a good judgment. They are out with their verdict and you're all over the place peddling lies. Why don't you go burn the sea? Go and do your worst Gabby. Akuffo Addo can never become president of Ghana!

What logic and what reasoning is this man applying.You wonder whether he is a lawyer and knows the rules governing panel verdicts or jury verdicts in the courts.He is just been silly and trying to squeeze water from stone to justify their frivolous petition which was unanimously rejected. Gabby Otchere Darku should know that a panel decision is based on simple majority and what he is trying to do is to cause mischief by playing the devil's role.

Which ever way you look at the verdict, the decision was emphatically called for the respondents.With the singular exception of Anim Yeboah who called for blanket cancellation and by a twist of logic asked for a rerun of the election between Mahama and Addo all others handpicked areas and asked for a rerun.The relief of the petitioners asking the court to cancel votes and award those votes to Akufo in order to make him the president was unanimously rejected by all the judges.

In effect one would have thought that since the relief sought by the petitioners failed the judges should have dismissed the claim by the petitioners because there was no relief on the table.If this man is worth his salt he should test the hypothesis he is propounding in court and see whether he will not end up in disgrace instead of the behind the scene noises he is making.It makes no sense and does not meet the test of good reasoning .No wonder he had difficulties in passing his exams.

It is an accepted fact that constitutional interpretation must be expansive and not narrow as some of these judges wants to ascertain.it beggars belief that some of the judges did not go along with the maxim that when there is a constitutional duty and a constitutional right equity imposes a duty that right must be given the benefit of the doubt.

To say that the word "shall" is imperative and therefore imposes a mandatory obligation is nonsense.In constitutional interpretation there is always the need for common sense.Even in the advance democracies there is always a margin for appreciation for mistakes.There is no perfect elections and Justice Anim's logic will make elections impossible in Ghana.

Dear Mr Kokonte, avoid insults and focus on the issue. It is not easy for the SC to unseat a 'legitimately elected' sitting government. Imagine the confusion. The evidence was there, clear and indisputable. But I think they chose NOT to rule in favour of justice, but rather in the interest of the preservation of greater peace. They could not also scold or find fault with the EC, because that would undermine the 'ratio descidendi' (the reason for the ruling,if any,of the case.
This is unfortunate, and it raises the question:'Where do we go from here, come 2016?'. Are they saying that the end justifies the means? What are the checks and balances that must be in place to ensure any defects are rectified.
My take is that our people, including you and I must push for a system to develop the country; in this way it doesn't matter which party wins. That means in general we will all enjoy a higher standard of living, sanitation, good hospitals, better infrastructure. This would take the some of the venom and vitriol out of politics and ensure more honesty in polling.
We are all missing the point here. National interest must be above all. Everything else must be secondary!

They, together with the NDC have done enough damage to Ghana and our economy and I am now getting sick and tired of all this nonsense....................

The only positives I see in all this is, how best to positively amend the electoral process from the early stages to the very end. The rest is all rubbish!

However, the other important thing I observed is how we showcased how we treat time in our nation, to the entire world. The supreme court judges could have used that platform to be on time for hearings during the petition case proceedings. Even on the final judgement day, they were late!

They could have taken the opportunity to educate our lot who treat 'time', the way NDC and NPP treats Ghanaians.

Wake up! Ghanaians! And get rid of the NPP and NDC, before it is too late for our dear nation......................

It's about time both USELESS parties put up and show some decency and.... respect the citizens of Ghana (who employs them) or just SHUT UP FOR GOOD!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!

When a government who has borrowed more than any other government in the history of this country, in addition to the windfall revenues we are generating from our new found wealth-oil; is only interested in how to loot and share the wealth of this country, then we cannot talk about development as long as we have professional thieves as our leaders. With all the borrowing and oil money, all the nearly complted road projects Kuffour left have become dust factories worsening the respiratory health of ghanaians. If you truely read the news on Ghana, you would have heard of Woyome, SADA, Nkonfem, GYEEDA and a whole lot more of very corrupt daylight robberey being perpetrated by our so called leaders. Last year alone the government overspent its budget by GHC 8.7 billion which is well over US$ 4.6 billion. This excess expenditure was without Parliamentary approval and so far the Government has not been able to give any reasonable explanation on what that money was used for. After this gargantuan theft, this year the government has increased taxes on poor Ghanaians and is even seekinhg to impose taxes on condoms. In the meantime, they have build a huge propaganda machinery with "Babies with sharp teeth" as spokespersons who sit on radio and television to deceive the unsuspecting Ghnanaian with a better Ghana promise. When in fact we have a worse Ghana today than what they came to meet five years ago. So you see, we cannot talk about development without talking about Politics, Because there will be no development as long as you have Thieves controlling the resources of our beautiful Ghana. The reasons for the SC verdit is embodied in the written judgement of our justices. And it is necessary for us to study and scrutinize the reasons adduced by our justices in arriving at the verdit they did. We would be naive not to scrutinize the judgement because posterity will not forgive us if here too we allow errors to carry the day. !!!

Now is the time for the dissenting opinions to be raised and carefully debated and you should be spearheading this effort, instead of all this hot air you are blowing. In as much as election petition is all part of the process, I don't want to believe that, that is going to be the norm, when there's the opportunity to avert that course of action, by winning and winning convincingly, and that should be the thrust of your effort. The academic exercise is very good, but, to what purpose? Unless, the NPP is saying that, election petition has become their mainstay and opportunity to get into the jubilee house. Do the necessary introspection and by all means, discuss the merits and demerits of the case, but most importantly, the party needs to channel all it's energies to prevent a repeat of such a situation.

I also looked at similar cases in Africa and the pattern appears to be the same; once election rigging sets in, it worsens with every future election and ends up in chaos and violence. Election rigging has to be stopped immediately before it becomes the "routine" in Ghana. Nana is by far more popular than that thief.

He lacks statistical knowledge - it seems all the six counts on which the justices ruled tantamount to irregularities, but not in any case was there ever a majority ruling that these irregularities could significantly or potentially affect and overturn the election results.

Was there a significant challenge to the polls in the NPP strongholds of Ashanti and Eastern regions? Who knows what would have been uncovered there in favour of John Dramani due to gross negligence on the part of NPP presiding officers.

Justice ANSAH wanted a re-run of the election which can be summed up as ABSTAINING.If his vote is added to the
THREE to make FOUR the verdict is 5-4.Indeed that is what was originally mistaken as 6-4. Ghanaians with no acess to computer internet are being hoodwinked by this man. We can read each justice's comments and case study before the verdict.
