You can't keep your money in the banks; they're all thieves, yet you can't keep it at home because armed robbers and thieves are about 89% of the population. Christ!

From the stench, the horrible airport with a thieving culture, filthy traders on every sidewalk, grownups relieving themselves in the open, unending fires, unreliable power and water to the teeming slums with uneducated masses and a business district that looks like large village i don't think any foreigner with a "big picture outlook" will miss all these very conspicuous clues that we're not a serious nation worthy of business. We're even late to very serious appointments and we take that for granted. The above clues give us away that we don't like work or responsibility and we can't give an enabling environment for success.

Very good question. People tend to forget that they are part of the problem. Typical Ghanaian sees very well what the other guy's doing but not himself. Everybody is waiting for the big change but nobody wants to change.

Ghanaians live in Cuckoo Land. I last visited Ghana in Feb 2010 with Ghana International Airlines, then the national airline of the Republic of Ghana. I was stranded for one month. Eventually, I have to asked my parents to buy me another return ticket to fly back to UK. I pity those going to do business in Ghana. I don't even trust the Government let alone an individual. Good Luck

Ghanaians must stop complaining and help build a noble nation.
A nation where children will not grow with debt all around them. A nation where foreigners don't take us for granted in the name of investment.
Our nation is blessed with enough sunshine to power all our homes and street light, but what do we see, a nation of people always complaining and not using their God given brains.
We sit and wait for foreigners to come and create growth and wealth in the mist of abundance. What a shame.
Where we see problems, I see opportunities and it is sad others can not see.
I was sadden by a comment from the Nigerian Finance Minister on AlJazera, yesterday, in which he said, our country is uniquely blessed because Nigeria has great natural resources. That, one can move technology and finance from place to place, but one can not move the natural resources.
I will not try and explain. I leave his statement to any wise person to diagnose.
It is indeed sad how people of sub Saharan Africa thinks because we are slowly digging ourselves another whole.
Governments facilitate growth. People create growth.
In fact, the investor drive should be targeted and not just any Dick and Harry encouraged to our shores.

I am surprised NDC diehards refuse to see the deterioration, the rot, the corruption, nepotism, tribalism, etc is happening on the ground perpetrated by Mahama and supervised by Mahama daily.
Mahama has no direction due to his lack of vision that he is moving Ghana to. His only pride is in his personal success as the "president2 of Ghana (thanks to the rat-faced Afar-gyan and the po-faced so-called Supreme court judge - ATUGUBA, the most incoherent and unintelligent (although witty and comedian) lawyer I have come across).
The import of the report is a serious indictment of how the country is being "managed" by the corrupt "leader" I have come across.

The country Ghana and it's leadership are just not serious and countless reports from within and without proves this point. It's a serious indictment about our competitiveness and ability to attract meaningful FDI, which would be a win-win situation for Ghana and the investor, and just like Dr. Bawumia said, sometime back, the needed infrastructure that needs to be put in place to make you competitive, needs to be done by the country itself, nobody is going to do that for you, and our inability to do this over the years as a result of leadership paralysis, bureaucracy, inertia, the lack of ideas and a gross inability to think outside the box and adopt proven, tried and tested best practices to fast track our progress, are some of the core issues militating against our development goals, and this need to be addressed. Placing 114th out of 148 countries which is actually a retrogression, speaks volumes about the marked leadership crisis affecting the country, and the fundamental ability to deliver.
