3.confirmation of procedures: in international law, the process of confirming that procedures laid down in an agreement such as a weapons limitation treaty are being followed
Synonyms: confirmation So is finger print the only way to confirm the identity of a person? If tommorrow we have a voice or scent verification machine do we discard the biometric?

The Constitution guarantees everyone the right to vote and EC made it clear that the biometrics of some people whose names are in the biometric register were lost. Were this people not to vote? The EC made a big mistake by kowtowing to the parties' objection to the sending of Form 1C to the polling stations. Anyway, we thank Allah, 5 judges recognized this.

They've touted this particular issue over and over and over again to the extent that, their weak-minded, illiterate supporters think they lost the petition verdict by 5:4. NO, YOU LOST OVERALL VOTES BY 7:2 AND DIDNT WIN ON ANY OF THE IRREGULARITIES U WASTED YOUR WEAK MINDS ON.

You know your supporters are brain-dead so wont read between the lines. U LOST THE OVERALL VOTES BY 7:2. A GOOD 7 JUDGES SAID NO TO YOUR PETITION. TELL THEM THE TRUTH AND STOP MISLEADING.

The EC insisted everyone was verified. The EC's own presiding officers recorded that some people were not verified. The Biometric verification device stores the information of everyone verified and yet the EC did not bring that information to court to prove the petitioners wrong and resisted any attempt to force them to produce that data. So what are they hiding? As the primary custodian of the data is it not their responsibility to counter the petitioners pink sheet with the original data? So why will you fault the judges if they believe what is on the pink sheet when the EC is not producing evidence to prove otherwise?

How do you identify at this time those who voted without biometric verification and secondly who said biometric verification is only by finger print? If finger printing devices are not working, other means of biometric verification can be used eg. DNA. So in law, the judges cannot say that biometric verification is only by finger printing.

Akoto Bamfo et. al. saying there were 2 days of voting but it was proven that still people voted without verification. The number of days does not equal to verification. This is common sense. Like justice Baffoe-Bonnie said there were some people who were prevented from voting because they were could not be verified, while other were allowed to vote without verification.

Read the story - one of the 4 Justices who called for annulment of the elections, argued on the grounds that some volters who could not be verified were not allowed to vote. Meanwhile, the other 3 Justices argued that voting took place without verification.

The 5 Justices who dismissed the petition argued in unison, saying that the extension of voting to the next day was to allow for verification where the machines broke down.

So, we have 5/5 for Mahama and 3/1 for Nana.

In any scientific endeavour the highest court of the land would have confisticated all the biometric machines and the EC's originals of the primary documents of the election, for verification whenever there was doubt.

The ruling clearly demontrates the difference between science and "stamp collection!"

If what I think is correct then biometric verification has a number of steps which one has to pass through to vote
1. your name and photo must be in the register at the polling station you are to vote
2. your must hold a valid biometric voters' ID which must be matched to your particulars on the register
3. your finger prints are verified by the verification machine then you proceed to vote.
The bone of contention was and has been step 3. There are some people whose finger prints are almost obliterated due to the menial jobs they do - farming, fishing, hewing wood, construction etc. These people's hard work put food on our tables and roofs over our heads.
On election day they are able to go through steps 1 and 2 but the machines frustratingly fail them in step 3. So are they to vote or not? They have gone through 2 steps out of 3 and still they are not verified enough to vote? Ghanaians let us be realistic and call a spade a spade and not a big spoon. So why should step 3 disenfranchise these unfortunate people? I think those calling for the cancellation of these votes are very callous. 2 out of 3 they were verified in a way and their votes must stand and the judges are right.
