I think this brings to question what the country's resource allocation priorities are? What kind of skilled professionals do we need to balance the system in order to channel the use our resources appropriately? Why do we still 'waste' scare resources on some tertiary level courses the country is not short-off and such as currently a waste to spend on? Do we have even employment opportunities for some of those humanity courses we spend resources on, yet we have no job at all for those already graduated whilst those resources can be spend on presently needed course like petrolchemicals, medicine, etc?

At a time where the Physician-patient ratio in Ghana is about 1:10-15,000, is it economically wise and is it prudent for a developing country not to have the required number of Physicians to address the health needs of the country, by ensuring that the required structures are in place and the facilities as well as personnel are in place to meet this obvious shortcoming, since a healthy nation is a prosperous nation?
We were all here when John Mahama then the Vice President is alleged to have gone into some contract with Cuba to train some Ghanaian students in medicine to meet the deficit in our health personnel, which contract, it was alleged to be fraught with fraud, which was exposed during the IEA debate, when John Mahama admitted that, the figure for each student was 10 times less, the official quoted figure. It is equally interesting to note that, our institutions of higher learning and with the facilities to train our students in medicine, were calling for gov't to channel those funds their way so they could address this capacity shortfall, but, it never happened. The issue has gone and comeback full circle, with the result that, a whooping 90% of qualified students, could not be admitted. What are the figures for Legon, KNUST and Tamale? Ghana deserves better and this is not the direction the country needs to be going.

The solution lies in expanding the facilities and not building new ones, secondly the students must realise that they are not a chosen few but commit to be patriotic and serve their nation. Is it not ironic that while we strive to provide facilities for our students to come and serve their communities, these same students upon graduation come and hold the nation to ransom with strikes for poor remuneration? Do we use the money to expand the facilities or use it to pay those who are serving?

This is an attempt to open the door of admission for "backdoor deals" and that has been with us ever since we attained the so-called independent. Does it make sense to admit only 10% of qualified candidates and what should the rest do? Go into farming? What is wrong with Ghanaian authorities? It seems they have hallow skull without brains.

A professor was giving a big test one day to his students. He handed out all of the tests and went back to his desk to wait. Once the test was over, the students all handed the tests back in. The professor noticed that one of the students had attached a 100 Cedi not to his test with a note saying "A dollar per point." The next class the professor handed the tests back out. This student got back his test and 56 cedis change"
There is a saying that hand go hand come and no contribution no chop.

it appears circumstances have forced the government to delay the award of contracts to recently retired doctors. now that the supreme court case is over could the govt hasten this process.
