"My eyes are open" because I have lived and worked abroad for over 20 years and I can say with certainty that our politicians are going "crazy" The politicians abroad work, before and after they are called upon to serve: They are teachers, lawyers, administrators etc. Our politicians are returnees from abroad where they worked in the factories, or unemployed living on the generosity of their hosts abroad. They are good for nothing and will do what ever it takes to win power because that is the only way they can achieve their goal of becoming rich. They are found in all the parties and not only NPP. I remember the secret tapes in which some NDC "Gurus" were planning to bring in "foot soldiers" to work as security personnel to ensure victory. Asiedu Nketia is also like a man possessed and without brain to think about the future of our children, he wants to win power at all cost. What else can they do, teaching in Ghana is like a sacrificial job, it does not pay and they want to live big. The two parties are like gangs of thieves fighting over who controls the national cake, either way the majority of the people are side lined, especially those in the villages. They award inflated contracts to their family members, friends and party supporters. "Fool soldiers" are taken care of and some of them get good jobs at the ports where corruption goes on unchecked because they are agents of these politicians. This has been the story of mother Ghana since Nkrumah died, these are the right recipe for military take over.

Who does not know that Atuguba favors NDC and Dotsei favors NPP? I can base on this and make prediction about what is going to happen and there is nothing wrong with that. This is something all NPP folks are hoping for; that those judges leaning to NPP will vote for them. So there is nothing wrong with the tape;it was based on prediction.

The tape is even more about the internal struggles in the party rather than what these illiterates wanted us to believe. He spent more time talking about Wereko Brobbey than what is going on the courts.

I firmly believe that NDC folks are afraid of losing the case. IF they failed to win this case, they just want to use this tape to blame the Judges and cause problem for the country; that is all that they are trying to do and nothing else.

For me, the issue is not how bad or otherwise was the contents of the alleged tape. Rather, it's whether the tape is genuine or not and if it is fake or fabricated who did it. It should be reasonable easy for the authenticity to be established. First, when (exact date) was the event and where was Awuku on that date? Was he in London and if yes, did he meet the NPP UK Communications Team or any other group in London?, etc. At least, one name has been mentioned and is that person in London and where was he at that material moment, etc.

If the tape is fabricated, then, those who did it are more dangerous then Awuku.

Regarding your comment on Justices belonging to which party, that is a contradiction of your view expressed earlier on one article. You suggested that it was an insult to suggest that Justices will vote according to their political affiliations. Stick to that and do not deviate from it because that is how judges are trained to act. When I applied for, passed an assessment, interview and appointed a member of the Employment Tribunal here in the UK, I applied as representing those who go to the Tribunal to seek justice. Other are appointed representing employers and labour unions. We were all trained together and on the first day of our training, the President of the Tribunals (a very senior Judge), told us that we must simply forget who we represented when we applied. We were appointed to administer justices and that is all what matters. When we are part of a panel we belong to the panel and not employers, workers or labour unions. We should simply base our decisions on the evidence and apply the law. We should be honest to ourselves and the Tribunal because justice has no alliance. I am sure that is what all judges are trained for.

While you want to dwell on the authenticity of the tape, I would love to debate on the right of Awuku's freedom of speech. Remember, I got into a little problem with you on freedom of speech. LOL. It is based on this stupidity of trying to find someone to be jailed at all cost because of what he or she said, that was why I was against of the SC judges calling people and sentencing them to prison.

So presently, we have some media or radio station sending people out there with recorders and trying to play "gotcha" and sending the tapes to Supreme Court for them to be charged and incarcerated. Is this what you want Ghana to be, Kofi? If you can answer that truthfully, you will see that nothing good came out from the sentencing of Ken. C'mon, Kofi, even the Russian and Germans have stop this nonsense.

I have gone through the transcript and I see nothing wrong with what he said. Fact is, we are human beings and we can't pretend that we will all think alike. kofi, you will be in denial if you think NPP folks believe that Atuguba will side with them and upheld this petition. And I know also that, NDC people believe Atuguba will be on their side. No one can deny these facts.

It is based on this simple logic, that is why I don't take Awuku's "talk" seriously. He has the right to make his prediction or count on the judges that he BELIEVES that will vote for NPP and that is not wrong; he is doing so based on his human instincts. But can he force the judges to make his "dreams" come true? That is what we have to look at and not what we people say. If he could change their minds by his word, then none of the Judges is worth to become a Supreme Court.

However, I believe that he can't change the minds of any judge who has decided to upheld or reject the verdict. So you see, I am not contradicting myself, but rather I am trusting and believing that the judges will do the right thing without fear or favor. It is simple.

My problem with the NDC folks here is, why do they have to bring this tape that they said was made in July at this time? Can you think of any reason why they are bring this tape 2 days before the verdict? That should be your concern, Kofi. If they really want peace and not to incite their foot soldiers or believing that they could change the minds of the judge with this tape, why bring this tape now. So they are also not for peace but rather to cause problem in the land.

And Kofi, what is damaging on the said tape is not the what he said about the Judges, but rather how the politicians are duping our Nation. But do you see that, not even you could see that. Instead of Press dwelling on something that and hold our leaders feet in the fire to do the right thing, we dwell on stupid cases like this. When can we move forward as a Nation?

The alleged statements were not made with intent to change the minds of the judges, since the alleged speaker said to be Awuku already KNEW their minds and how they were going to vote! How he got to know that is the one of the main issues. Of course, some of us are aware of the close relationships some of those judges have with people in the NPP leadership, etc. So have those judges told them privately not to worry, whatever defence they put up, we shall support your petition?

Secondly, leaking the tape is not intended to change the minds of the judges but to bring to the attention of the public the aforementioned, that some of the SC judges are partial to the NPP and irrespective of the evidence and legal precedences, will vote for the petitioners! Surely! You can't argue that this claim is not serious! If that's the case, then why should the NDc and its supporters accept the verdict of the SC, if the judges are so biased in favour of the NPP?

There are other gross things said in that leaked taped which expose the mentality of the NPP people and their leadership! The way the audience clapped when chop, chop was mentioned ...hmm! Yes, chop, chop is very paramount to their psyche, we all know. But the way they flaunt it is just too much to stomach. Well, as he put it, they are not in religion but in politics, and in politics, you enjoy while still alive on earth! Good for them!

Greetings. Where did you read that Awuku said he KNEW the minds of the judges and how they were going to vote? Was it from the transcript? Please, could you cut and paste for me? Otherwise, debating on you will not help us since we will base our debate on False premise.

But in case you have forgetting, let me remind you that even in the US Supreme Court, many make prediction and get it right. You can be 100% sure that when it comes to conservative issues, Clarence Thomas, and Antonin Scalia will always vote for that. And Ruth Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer will also vote for issues that are dear to the Democrats. Why should this be so difficult for some of you to understand?

By the way, you have confirmed my suspicions on the reason why NDC is releasing the said tape at this time; to cause confusion if the verdict did not go their way. They just want their foot soldiers to get ready and cause trouble by telling them ahead that NPP may win the case because there are some judges who will throw away reasoning out of the window. That is what they are doing this and nothing else. Should anything untoward happens to the SC Judges after the verdict, I want to see you here condemning them for that.

Like I said, the most damaging aspect of the said tape is not who will vote to uphold or reject the verdict but rather it is about the chop-chop that these people are thinking of coming to power to do? That is the most serious part.

He went on to amplify on that, expressing his confidence that the NPP would win. Of course, he was subtle in expressing those views, since he was mindful of what he said might leak out.

Now, the cases which the US SC judges take partisan lines on are normally cases involving moral values, not cases like this.

Of course, the NDC is trying to make political capital out of this tape, genuine or faked. If it turns out to be faked, that's bad for them and the culprits should be fished out for punishment to save their faces and credibility. They can't just drop such a dirty bomb on the public like that without any consequences.

The tape must be investigated by the Police.

My dogs didn't seem to mind him. He seemed like a good dog and I was OK with him, so I let him nap. An hour later he ambled to the door and I let him out.

The next day he was back, resumed his position on the couch, and slept for an hour.

This continued for days. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap. I don't mind but want to be sure it's OK with you."

The logic is elusive in deed; can't find any! Granted Sammy Awuku said all that why is that a big issue this time? Or it was discovered only yesterday or a short while ago? Off course we can't condone any reckless talk that could raise questions on the high judicial standards of our Justices but lets face it when someone feeds on such lapses for political gains it slows down the wheels of progress.

Unfortunately no; some citizens are so much engrossed in things that have negative bearings on progress of the nation that they see no evil in whatever they write or say or do as long as it would hurt their political enemies. It is true many of the judges support NPP but still NPP opposed the composition of the judges and the making of Atuguba the head of the panel. You can have it all your way but if there is no justice you will know no peace. The country is bigger than the NPP, NDC and the judges so this case is a case that has to be determined based on the evidence at stake and the inconclusiveness of certain aspects of the case. So far the NPP has not produced any solid evidence and if they think the judges will vote for them then they need to think twice. Mahama, the NDC, CPP and all the other parties in Ghana with the exception of a majority membership of the NPP believe Mahama won so if in your own NPP, some of your educated and sensible stalwarts believe Mahama won, how then do you think you can overthrow Mahama in a judicial coup? Mahama has said time and again he won the elections fairly and you claim JM connived with the EC to rig the elections which you couldn't substantiate so upon what basis will the court pronounce you as the victor? Do not forget Mahama said he won and he is the commander in chief of the army, air force, navy and all forces be it special or reserve. If you cannot reason properly you will be forced to. Common sense lacks in your case at the Supreme Court and that is what the judges will tell you when that day comes and it is just around the corner. Power-drunk and corrupt to the bone are the traits of many in the NPP. They do not reason normally as they lack intelligence. Instead of them thinking of how to move the country forward in terms of scientific and technological advancements, through the education of all including the illiterates, they are rather inciting violence through political and ideological blindness and their tribalistic hatred of others. Bigots!! Come judgement day and you will learn a lot, if you refuse you will die with your stupidity as the people have had enough of your blind comments

Actually, the petitioners were aware of this all along--hence the court case. So What Awuku said on the tape is common knowledge.

So the actual struggle is within the supreme court. Most of the NPP justices know that the petition is bogus--but they are still inclined to "help" the NPP.

But the poor performance of Addison and Bawumia, and the real threat of conflict will sway 1 or 2 of the NPP appointed justices to tilt the vote to reject the petition.
