Nana's selfish ambitions have got the better of him.I don't think the man really cares about what happens to our beloved country as long as he can get to be president. My prediction: he will never be president of Ghana. He should stop dragging down the NPP and make way for a younger, more vibrant and focused leadership. He could have retired from active politics with his dignity intact but not anymore.I would like to be optimist but short of a miracle(and Ghanaians had better pray for one) I cannot see how our nation can avoid strife.

What does one do when business is losing money? My suggestion is stop and continue when you think you can make a profit

Unfortunately stopping and then reactivating mines can be prohibitively expensive. Not a viable option right now.

The downturn(likely temporary) in the gold bull market has forced gold mining companies to take heed to running/operational costs.A raging bull market for 12 years allowed gold mining companies to grow very careless about keeping mining costs to a minimum, a fact noted by many investors.The investing community have collectively punished the gold miners by voting with their feet and exiting en mass.Many company executives lived lavish lifestyle, spared themselves no expense especially during travels etc and simply put their outrageous expenses on their company credit cards. Those halcyon days are now over. We can expect many more gold mining companies(mostly those with poor cash flows) to bite the dust before this season of austerity is over. I don't feel sorry for the companies that go bust because of poor asset management. As the saying goes "Everyone is a genius during a raging bull market".From now on only efficient and productive mining companies will survive, a good thing for both investors and countries hosting mining companies.
