Recall the 50th anniversary and how you all basked in the sunshine of the Nkrumah more than life image!Even the great Mwalimu Nyerere at Ghana's 40th birthday admitted that even they failed to get him at that time. But regretattably many like you, ocquaye and others may never get it!Although I must admit you are not a fundalist like ocquaye! That would be a pity. Even the youth of today get it loud and clear!!!And I am talking of youth from all political parties and beyond the limited borders of Ghana. That is what matters! Forwards ever backeward never!

Had it not been for the timely intervention of PC APPIAH Ofori to have come up with the Ghc7,000 in a matter of few hours to bail out Sir John or Hopeson Adoryeh, they would most probably would have been jailed for six whole months....

...but interestingly, the man who was doing the begging and at the same time begging for more business from his own party is trying to take his trumpet to town....forgetting that he was actually giving a stiff conditionality: Ghc5,000 by the close of business day for prison for six month....just imagine.

What many of these NPP goons don't know is that there is a different between boundaries of the Gold Coast as it were and that of the Republic of Ghana as masterminded and executed by the Great Kwame Nkrumah....

The Gold Coast was made up of mostly the coastal regions --from Accra to Axim, then there was the Ashanti Confederacy and the Northern Territories that were not fully and permanently under the British rule....not including the Volta Region and many other quasi-autonomous "territories".....

The Republic of Ghana as it were from July 1st, 1960 under the visionary leadership of kwame nkrumah til date, is made up of a bigger land mass and geographic boundaries as compared to what it was in 1947....

For those who may not know, there were plebiscites and other elections that took place where the people of land took to votes of what was to be their future and how they wanted to govern themselves....Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP always won any universal suffrage hence a new and free nation was born....totally different from the framework of the UGCC if they had one.

LET IT BE KNOWN ALSO THAT UNTIL KWAME NKRUMAH JOINED THE UGCC, MOST SETTLERS OR INHABITANTS OUTSIDE OF CAPE COAST HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS SO-CALLED UGCC....

The ARPS were part of the civil disobedience group that organised the 1949 demonstrations.

Now you NPP Mate Mehu knuckleheads and revisionist are at it again. What is wrong with this Nation Wreckers and BOMB throwers and litigation intoxicated Mate Mehu folks at all? Should we go back to Adam and Eve as to who did what, when, where? How about the ARPS which was formed three decades before the UGCC saw daylight? The ARPS had leaders like Mensah Sarbah and Casely-Hayford at the forefront? The question here are immediate events leading to the regaining of our Independence and here Kwame Nkrumah played the almighty role that prompted the British to relinquish their grip on power earlier than they would have wished.

The fact of the matter is JB Danquah who wanted to be a leader by all means and at all cost usurp Kobina Sekyi the then leader of the ARPS to form the UGCC with the help of Paa Grant the financier. In fact the UGCC was formed on 4 August 1947 and Kwame Nkrumah joined them in December 1947 so it is not as if the UGCC had existed many years before Nkrumah's arrival but only four months old when he became their secretary because these lazy minds could not organize properly. It was Kwame Nkrumah who turned the Boys Club into a fully fledged party. Upon the recommendation of Ako Adjei his mate at Lincoln University that Kwame Nkrumah was called to join the group which was a boys club. Kwame Nkrumah was a self-made man and was already making waves in the UK before he was invited to assist these lazy minds as their scribe(General Secretary). However, Nkrumah found out too soon that the UGCC group was not proactive but was always begging the colonialist power.

Was J.B. Danquah not an Opportunist by usurping Kobina Sekyi? if you lazy minds would like to hijack the opportunist then use the broad brush and not exclude your lazy minded Danquah. Was Danquah not riding on the back of Mensah Sarbah and Casely-Hayford? Damn! you NPP Mate Mehu cannot cherry pick history to have the last bite. No it is not that simple. The other five members are remembered today due the fame of Kwame Nkrumah. They are rather riding on the back of Nkrumah’s fame.
So just as JB Danquah usurp Kobina Sekyi to take over the leadership as to what path to lead or move Ghana the then Gold Coast forward. Nkrumah also usurp Danquah to form the CPP which did not cooperate with the British and took over leadership by propagating a revolutionary move and asking for independence now as against Danquah UGCC's independence in our life time. Had Ghana followed the latter principle; I am not so sure we would have regained our independence in 1957. So like every race there is only one winner and in this case Kwame Nkrumah came up on top with his fresh ideas and ideals. Nkrumah's youthful energy and charisma was a plus that elevated him above the rest.

Therefore, there are no two ways about it that Kwame Nkrumah's ideas and ideals won the race in that era, hence the founding father of modern Ghana. The Blueprints Nkrumah building a modern Ghana are everywhere. From the Black Star Squarein the south to Upper region. From Volta Akosombo to twenty square miles of rubber plantations in western region. From Kade to Ashanti through Ahafo regionhis footprints are there for all to see. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame is the founding father of modern Ghana. Period! Any futher questions? NO!!!

Nkrumah lives! We still face forward. Long live Ghana in Freedom and Justice.

DR NKRUMAH, A STRATEGIC VISIONARY, AGREED SEEING THE OPPORTUNITY TO ORGANIZE AND LIBERATE THE AFRICAN MASSES FROM AFRICAN SOIL.

DIFFERENCES AROSE WITHIN DAYS OF DR NKRUMAH'S ARRIVAL IN THE GOLD COAST WHEN DANQUAH AND OTHERS TRIED TO TREAT HIM AS AN EMPLOYEE, RATHER THAN AN EQUAL. WORSE, WHEN DR NKRUMAH BEGAN ORGANIZING THE MASSESS, THE TO DANQUAH BUSIA CLIQUE WERE OUTRAGED. THEY MADE IT CLEAR TO NKRUMAH THAT THEIR CONCEPT OF INDEPENDENCE DID NOT REQUIRE ENGAGING THE MASSES; IT WAS TO REPLACE THE CROWN OFFICERS WITH ELITE NATIVES IN THE SHORTEST POSSIBLE TIME. DR NKRUMAH, A VISIONARY, REJECTED THIS AND INSISTED ON ORGANIZING THE YOUTH, FARMERS, FISHERMEN, MARKET WOMEN AND WORKERS TOWARDS TRUE INDEPENDENCE.
WHEN THE DANQUAH-BUSIA CLIQUE BECAME HELPLESSLY FRUSTRATED THEY COULD NOT WOO DR NKRUMAH TO THEIR ELITIST AGENDA, THEY PLANNED TO DISMISS AND DISGRACE HIM TO NEUTRALIZE HIS GROWING POLITICAL FORCE. THE UGCC REMNANTS HAVE EVER SINCE IN A CAMPAIGN TO RETAKE THEIR RIGHT TO RULE THE MASSES OF POST COLONIAL GHANA. THEY EVENTUALLY ALLIED WITH THE CIA TO TOPPLE THE OSAGYEFO IN 1966. THE COUP MAKERS GAVE THEM THEIR WISH IN 1969 BUT LACKING A VISION FOR THE COUNTRY THEY WRECKED HAVOC ON THE COUNTRY AND HAD TO BE THROWN OUT WITHIN THREE YEARS BY COL ACHEAMPONG IN JAN 1972.

The British were already leaving and there was no need for Nkrumah's so-called positive action...it was all for himself and few miscreant 'veranda boys' coveting political power for their selfish or personal economic gains!

Talk is cheap but it's Action that counts most. The Action is the Economy, and the CPP/Nkrumah government failed spectacularly in their rule from 1951 to 1966. It was 15 years of unbridled dictatorship of an usurper of power.

Without Nkrumah, Ghana would be ranking at par in development to Malaysia and Singapore today...but now look at our wretched state of affairs: A very poor undeveloped country of near full unemployment and a broken education system with no public toilets for as many as 5.3 Million people, who defecate in public as animals do!

It was the first Secretary Dr Ako-Adjei of UGCC who first brought his friend Dr Nkruamh from USA to London and told Dr Nkrumah of everything political situation in the then Gold Coast. This happened because was already a strong Pan Africanist in the USA. Thus, Dr Ako-Adjei brought Dr Nkrumah to the Gold Coast and introduced him to the UGCC members. Thus, Dr Nkrumah took over the Secretaryship of the UGCC from Dr Ako-Adjei.

However, not soon the was a division as a result of Drs Nkrumah and Ako-Adjei agitating for Independence Now for the Gold Coast as the two formed CPP, while the UGCC wrote letters to the British Government that independence must delayed as the people were not yet ready for such a project. This led the Governor General to jailed Drs Nkrumah and Ako-Adjei.

After election were held, Dr Nkrumah won hands down. To this, the British Government had no choice than to release the two friends from prison and Dr Nkrumah became the first Premier of the country, where he declared the Gold Coast as GHANA.

I am no lawyer but I know that you can not argue a contempt case because it is a Judge's power to control his court room from becoming chaotic and he can use it as he sees fit, off course, within reason. Nkrumah did not write his own history but rather history judged him as the founder of our nation. Not he nor anyone else for that matter can change that just like they, the UGCC, could not change the timing of Ghana's independence by going to the Queen allegging that we were not ready for independence.He is nobody. Why are the always trying to force things on us? For example, they are making Edward Akufo Addo as former President,the question is if he was, then what was Dr Busia, because they both served at the same time. A President without executive powers is no President.Dr Busia was the Head of State then and not Edward akufo Addo.

The facts are clear for all who care to know. Dr. J. B. Danquah was the founder of the UGCC. He however didn't do it all alone; he had Arko Adjei, R. A. Awoonor-Williams, Edward Akufo-Addo (Nana Akufo-Addo's father) and Emanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey (Jake Obetsebi-Danquah) as co-founders.

They invited Nkrumah who was schooling in the United States to join them. He was offered the position as secretary with a salary of 250 British Pounds back then. It became apparent that Nkrumah had his own secrete agenda. UGCC's main problem was finance. Paa Grant who was then a timber merchant was their sole financier. It was Paa Grant who paid for Nkrumah's boat fare from Liverpool, England to Ghana.

But Nkrumah had the support of African American civil rights activists Martin Luther King and W E B Du Bois. These men helped finance Nkrumah, in the hopes that Nkrumah's rise to prominence would enhance their cause for the recognition of the African around the world.

Soon, Nkrumah broke away forming the CPP. While the UGCC were fighting for total self rule, Nkrumah used his "independence now" idea among others to win support for independence. He used crud tactics, spreading false news that leaders of the UGCC were receiving kick-backs from the while rulers and that they were dangerous people who shouldn't be trusted etc. Nkrumah had Gbedemah who became his finance minister and others on his side.

Nkrumah soon lost focus and control about the development promises he had made. By the influence of W E B Du Bois, he started drifting from his capitalist ideals and began following the Soviet Communist ideology.

Let me put this fact also straight; the Akosombo Dam Project was British initiation. They promised to help Ghana build the dam to generate power, during governor Arden Clark's tenure. When Nkrumah started molesting his political opponents, the British backed out citing financial problems as their reason.

He got help from the United States who asked Kaiser Aluminium to be partners since they tied it to the mining of Ghana's bauxite. Nkrumah caused lots of problems for Ghana. In my own words, I would say he cause more problems than good for Ghana.

So, as Hon. Ayikoi Otoo has stated, Nkrumah was an opportunist. He led Ghana into bankruptcy before he was ousted in 1966. People began suffering; he'd asked every family in Ghana to declare their assets to state; he was walking Ghana unto communist paths when he realised I couldn't manage things.

I'd like Kwaku Baako, Samia Nkrumah and Sekou to take notice of these facts. I was a little boy when Nkrumah and his wife and kids, Samia and Gamel visited Akropong School For The Blind, where I was raised. I'm not a historian but I remember what was popular CPP propaganda saying that: "Nkrumah never dies" when I was a kid. I believe Kwaku Baako & Co., would remember that.

It is widely suggested that these great African Americans were Nkrumah`s source of inspiration to become president of Ghana. For the information of those who DON'T KNOW and / or have been BRAINWASHED by their forebears, Kwame Nkrumah's work for Ghana (and Africa) DID NOT begin with his involvement with the UGCC.

Whilst it is true that the UGCC invited him to become their General Secretary from his base in the UK, he had already been actively engaged in the affairs of the Gold Coast way back in the 1930s. His influence and stature had already permeated the freedom movement. That UGCC invited him to join them instead of working on his own was precisely because they saw his qualities and needed him as part of their team. Where is the "opportunism" in this?

Why do we need to have this argument any way, and why now? It's just uncalled for.

The main reason why he left the other party and formed his party, which led us to independence, is the same bark-biting going on today in our political parties in the country. So please don't call Dr Nkrumah an opportunist. He took a very painful and tough decision to breakaway from the party that invited him but his decision paid off. If Dr Nkrumah did not do what he did at the time, Ghana would probably be in a worst position today. The problem is, all the leaders after Nkrumah did not not do their works well to move Ghana forward.

Why don't we think about establishing industries to process our cocoa to add value to it before export? What about our mineral resources...should we not t hint about setting industries in Ghana to feline them before export? Same goes with oil.
The timber industry is not too bad since we have a couple of industries to process them before export. These industries are a source of employment for folks, infrastructure is developed in the location, and taxes are being paid and the economy improves.
These are issues we'll meaning Ghanaians should be concerned about than stupid senseless arguments as to who created Ghana.
What does that mean? Every body played a part especially the "Big Six" . In politics , the president is always the father of the nation. So granted that Jb Danquah became president, the scenario would have been the same,today, and phony folks would been up to it.
It baffles my mind that an individual of Ayikoo would stoop so low in intelligence to come out with this crab of reasoning as he just did and wrote about.

That's why they threw bombs in the past and now they want to take any opportunity to get back in power.The forebears of the NPP did not find land which now called Ghana neither Nkrumah.Those people they mentioned including Nkrumah had parents and great grand-parents who lived in the land way before them. The Gold Coast was given by the British so when he (Nkrumah) became the leader of the United Gold Coast Convention,after the independence, he tried to convince them to change the name because the name Gold Coast was given by the British but the others did not agree with him that was why he went on to form his own party called CPP "convention people's party" . When he won the election he changed the name Gold coast to Ghana. Now if they are talking about the word Ghana then Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the founder because the real meaning of Ghana is "God Has Appointed Nkrumah Already". I guess NPPs don't know that. So whether they had UGCC before Nkrumah doesn't make them the founder. They didn't even give the name Gold Coast to the land they were leaving on.And none of them including Nkrumah discovered the land which now called Ghana.Nkrumah named the country Ghana from the British name "Gold Coast". Nkrumah was the first president of Ghana that makes him the God-Father of the country and aside he foundered the name Ghana but he did not discover the land which now called Ghana. So the late President Mills was right to portray Nkrumah as the founder of Ghana afterall he was the one who changed the name Gold coast to Ghana and that makes him the founder of the name Ghana period!! .I cannot believe that a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice would come down so low. The Akosombo Hydro electric dam and others had already been mapped out or drawn. They promised to help Ghana build the dams towards Ghana`s industrialization even before independence. However, when Nkrumah started his unwarranted detention for political opponents, and his involvement in the US-Soviet tangle in the cold war era, things got worse. The British backed out of the Akosombo project, citing financial constraints when sent shock waves to Nkrumah. Nkrumah started building state-owned factories. Ghanaian`s industrialization drive was started by Nkrumah but wasn`t necessarily his brainchild. That`s another great and undeniable fact!

He got help from the US when his finance minister, Mr. K. A. Gbedemah caused a stir in the US while on visit there. He felt thirsty an went into Howard Johnson Hotel to get water. When he was told that Black cannot drink from that hotel, the news spread quickly across the US and the world. President Kennedy called Gbedemah and asked him to tell his story and Ghana`s planned Hydro Dam.

Kennedy called in Kaiser Aluminum to become part of the whole deal esp. with the millions of tons of bauxite buried in our rain forests belt. The idea of making Ghana an industrial hub in Sub Saharan Africa had been planned by the British Getting those development projects implemented was another. Nkrumah had started sharing in the dreams of W E B Du Bois, who thought communism was a better option for African or the Black man. And that`s why he started building state enterprises like The Black Star (shipping) Line, Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC) State Distilleries, Aboso Glass Factory, Bonsah Rubber Plantation, Kwamoso State Farm Plantation for Palm Oil, and state this; state that everywhere. He quickly refused the fact that allowing local businesses to be the engine of growth for our economy was the best solution, because of his affiliation with Du Bois, who later got grounded in Ghana because the US won`t renew his passport, in order for him to return to his home.

The first Lies got there and started rubbing suntan lotion on his little Lies arms and his little Lies legs. Just then, the second lies arrived just a shivering' and a shaking'. The first Lies asked, "What the hell happened to you?" To which the second Lies replied "I just rode out here on a bikers mustache and I'm so very cold!" The first Lies said, "Don't you know the special trick to getting here, first you go to the airport, go straight to the ladies bathroom, wait for a pretty young stewardess to come along, and when she sits down you climb right up in her panties where its nice and warm". The second lies agreed that this was a grand idea. The next winter comes along and it was time for the Lies to head for the sunny beaches again. The first Lies arrived and began putting suntan lotion on his little lies arms and his little lies legs. About that time, the second lies arrived again just a shivering', shaking', and mumbling about how cold he was. The first Lies exclaimed "Didn't you learn anything that I taught you about getting here nice and warm?" When you buy a forest land for farming, you struggle to clear the trees and bush and burn, then you bring somebody to come and plant, who would you say is the founder of the farm?? What Prof Ocquaye said was spot on. Everybody who has read the history of Ghana well knows when the struggle for independence started, who or which group of people started it. Can somebody tell me what age was Nkrumah when the struggle started? Where was Nkrumah when the struggle started? When the struggle had reached a pivotal point, and the British knew the die was cast, they were the ones wanting a scape way, and were pushing for a kind of shared government. The reason to them was simple and true. "we did not have the manpower to govern". Now somebody tell me, after 56 years where are we? What we have is gargantuan corruption, abuse of power and our laws. We are so dependent on foreign aid to our eyeballs. I believe Danquah was skeptical about Nkrumah and his socialist ideology, and anti-western democracy. Arko Adjei and others were the ones who pushed for Nkrumah to be accepted. What when happened? He came to undermine all of them and by populist appeal got the upper hand. What can be more opportunistic than that? Nkrumah had no ides the extent of the struggle. He had no managerial skills except "PATAPAA". Look at where Australia and Canada, are!! The facts and the truth always hurt those with wrong entrenched ideas.

Today Paa Grants name is hardly mentioned yet he also provided cash to influence the independence process.I am sure that before the birth of Moses there were people at the forefront of the liberation process in Israel yet his name stood tall among his contemporaries.Much as JB and others started the process,there is nothing you can do when destiny picks on another person.At the end of the day KN became a force to recon with by the British hence forcing them to give us our freedom.

Why don't you keep quiet until Akuffo-Addo wins the Presidency and then you guys can decide to name a new founder or founders. Who cares at this time who was the founder of Ghana. Ghanaians need jobs, food, shelter, schools, hospitals, roads, electricity etc.

In fact when Nkurmah's daughter, Samia, attended the NPP anniversary forum these reckless guys criticized her father as she in the audience.

At the hearing, he did not say anything in legal terms to defend his client, except the use of humour and begging for leniency. The judges, in turn, took his begging on board and gave their judgement and not any legal argument, which he offered none. The outcome of this single case has, undoubtedly, made Ayikoi Otoo big-headed - leading him to turn into a politically wrong territory. He has become an OPPORTUNIST by a stroke. And it's all because the judges had let his client off the hook because of his sense of humour and his continuous appeal for leniency - as his "birthday present".

Irony : we have abundant natural ressources, well-educated citizens (maybe half of the population)not to exaggerate, yet our infrastructure is deplorable, health services to be desired, and we continue to bring past issues which have no significance at this very moment, I repeat, at this very moment to the forefront of our political debate. You have forgotten the soaring cost of schooling in the country, unemployment of our youth whereas the political elite ride in SUVs and turn their back on the vast majority languishing in the cells of poverty. Remember the French Revolution, we are sitting on a time bomb if we cannot have a vision of a just society. Politicians and intellectuals have let Ghana down.

If Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah was not the Founder of Ghana,its neither UP's Dankwah.
Ghanaians would preferred to honour the Fante's whom started it all.
The Fante Confederation: Paa Grant,Ferguson,Mensah Sarbah,Casley Hayford,King Ghartey of Winneba, etc etc
2nd Fante group: The Aborigine Protection Society, JW Sey,Kobina Sekyi, and others.
The above two groups were the first before UGCC .
