I think its best to shut up and allow those who have chosen to leave their life in low life Ghana to do things that works best for them.

Your so called proven Western system that is supposedly working all over the world isnt true. Look at Egypt, Libya, Syria, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Myamar, and a host of other countries that had failed trying to do something that isnt well in synch with their culture.

On the other hand nations like Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, China, and co that pursued democrazy the best way it would succeed based on their culture and customs are successful.

Kwabena Adjei isnt also the first to warn us about Western Style democrazy and its failures. Kwame Nkruma, Acheampong, and Jerry Rawlings have all warned us about coping something that we dont even understand.

Other non Western leaders have all warned us about it. Whether you call them dictators or not the evidence is there for us all to see, chaos, corruption, bureacracy, and downright visionless.

So if a president appoints members of the minority in parliament to very key and sensitive positions would it not serve Ghana? Why are some people so warped in their thinking to imagine that we cannot unite to forge the nation forward. Gone were the days when men of God spoke and kings and rulers listen. In the light of the situation that we find ourselves in now, what are the alternatives? What are your suggestions? Also, let us all try to look at the issues rather than the personalities. Anyway, what prompted this thoughts may be interesting to investigate. Is it because he has already see the verdict warranting any such idea? Or the only remedy he can think of dealing with current unproven 'winner takes all' statement from Kwabena Adjei blowing across Ghana?

We should now preach that people or politicians must respect our constitution and by extension those national structures such as the EC and the SC which are legal and constitutional structures.

The Judiciary is independent, the legislature is a unitary type with majority and minority legislating together in parliament, and the Executive is the choice of the people through transparent and biometric electoral system. Let it remain like that and rather urge those who wont allow even the security services to function to stop drawing Ghana back.

They complained after loosing an election and we moved to photo voter ID,they lost again afterwards.

They again complained and we moved to biometric plus they insisted on biometric verification, all these was done and they lost. Now they are complaining in court. Before the court even come out with any rulling they are already out there complaining and insulting judges.

BISHOP! I emplore you in the name of the God we serve to look deep into their faces and tell them enough, we need a peaceful Ghana.

Ghana already has a good political system, it is the NPP that never want the country to be and they started this before independence.

God will reward you, mr. bishop if you tell them to allow Ghana move on.

Investigations carried out by the New Statesman indicates that the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, who was declared the winner of the December 7 and 8 presidential election by Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, and is being sworn into office today as the president, spent over $180m just to ‘buy’ the 2012 election.

According to top NDC sources, at least $180m (nearly GHC350m) was spent on the 2012 campaign by President Mahama and the NDC from the centre. It is by a huge margin, the most expensive campaign ever ran in this country and relatively even more so than what incumbents spend in larger and richer Nigeria. Our investigations show that a chunk of the money was disbursed in November from the Ministry of Finance for unbudgeted expenditure, including the payments to rlg for distribution of laptops embossed with President Mahama’s campaign pictures. The organisations that were used for this unprecedented vote buying spree included LESDEP, SADA, rlg, NADMO, Zoomlion, as well as some chiefs.

Sources at the Ministry of Finance believe most of the money disbursed close to the election was laundered through the organisations and ended up in the campaign coffers of the NDC.

According to a ‘rigging’ document cited by the New Statesman before the election, the NDC targeted 180 constituencies where they bribed officials of the Electoral Commission, and even some agents of the NPP, with various sums of money. In the Volta Region, parts of Central, Western, Brong-Ahafo and the three northern regions, over GHC80m was spent directly to buy votes. In the Upper West, voters were given GHC50 as they stood in the queue to vote. In the Volta Region, especially some places in the Ketu South and North Dayi constituencies, as much as GHC100 per head was paid. The overall strategy was to target households and between GHC200-600 was paid per household, an amount which seemed like manna from heaven for many poor families. Truck load of motorbikes, bicycles, outboard motors, sewing machines, rice, cloth, laptops and phones followed NDC campaign vehicles as the ruling party invaded communities in target areas buying votes.

Some parliamentary candidates, for example in the Nzema areas, were seen distributing monies themselves.

SADA distributed tractors a few days before election; rlg, which received GHC100m in the last few weeks of the campaign, gave out free laptops with pictures of the president. The unit price per these laptops remains known to only a few.

NPP BOYCOTTS MAHAMA -As he takes ‘temporary’ custody of presidency today John Dramani Mahama, president-elect, as declared by Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, Chairman of the Electoral Commission, is expected to be sworn into office today as the president of the nation in line with the provisions of the 1992 constitution. The main opposition New Patriotic Party is not taking part in the swearing-in ceremony, following its decision to boycott the activity in protest against the outcome of the December 7 and 8 general elections whose validity the party is challenging at the Supreme Court.

Boakye Agyarko, Campaign Manager of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate of the NPP, has asked all party members and supporters to remain calm, as they await the outcome of the electoral petition at the Supreme Court. In an interview with the New Statesman yesterday, Mr Agyarko noted that the fact that Mr Mahama was being sworn into office as the president “does not end the matter, as the challenge over the legitimacy of his declared victory in the presidential election is being pursued in court by our party.”

According to Mr Agyarko, Mr Mahama may only be taking ‘temporary custody’ of the presidency in line with the nation’s constitution, just as it applies in the traditional installation of a chief.

He likened the situation in the country at the moment to a situation where a chief is enstooled and it later turns out he was not an odehye(a royal) or the process that led to his enstoolment was defective.

“If there is a question of succession in my village, in the heat of the dispute someone may be enstooled or enskined. However if in the aftermath, it is found that the person so enstooled is not qualified either because he is not a royal or the process was defective, the society will not simply say that because he has already been enstooled, it will let that enstoolment stand,” Mr Agyarko explained. He added: “Indeed, every society in this land will see this as a sacrilege and take urgent steps to reverse the status quo. That should not be different for Mahama if the courts should rule against him.”

"The Constitution anticipates the President being sworn in before the Supreme Court's decision that is why it says the court can declare the results invalid without prejudice to whatever the president has done. It did not say president-elect," Mr Agyarko explained further.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign manager, he and many like-minded Ghanaians will find it “extremely difficult to see how on the face of our evidence any judge can say the result as declared was valid.”

Mr Agyarko commended Nana Akufo-Addo for staying true his democratic beliefs, adding that the nation had remained peaceful mainly because of the constitutional approach he had had adopted in challenging the results of the elections.

“Ghana has remained peaceful because Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP have chosen to respect the constitutional provisions in seeking redress to our electoral grievances. Ghana remains peaceful because we want justice, and justice must be done and seen to be done,” he added.

No constitution is sacrosanct.It can be changed to suit the demands of Ghanaians.What I don't agree here is the view by The Most Reverend Gabriel Charles Palmer-Buckle that a unity government be made up of the NDC and the NPP.The country does not belong to the NPP and the NDC,and so far they have proved to be too adversarial to be able to unite to move the nation forward.A unity government must be made up of competent politicians and technocrats irrespective of their political backgrounds and must not be based on a political or economic dogma.Its main aim should be to improve the economy for the benefit of the majority of Ghanaians who are poor and disadvantaged.

This unpatriotic, tribally bigoted man has never had anything good to say and here he comes again drawing ridiculous conclusions which not borne out by the facts.

To suggest that the election process involving "cheating, criminal acts" among others is grossly preposterous and must be condemned by all since it is NOT borne out by the facts of the proceedings in court!!! I would be most shocked if in the ruling (whichever way it goes) the justices cited any criminal acts and collusion to the fact.

I also take serious issue with this incorrigible deranged individual who is so consumed by his tribal and narrow political interests as to shut his mind to any form of reason which would help heal our nation after such a robust and passionate process. That the Rev (Cardinal) Buckle is calling for a "unity government" after the fact to me simply means an appeal for a more 'inclusive' government in which people across the political divide would be represented in decision-making beyond parliament.

The argument that such a "unity government" is unconstitutional is uninformed and stupid. Can Okoampa point out specifically where the Ghana constitution PROHIBITS such a union? One thing people need to understand is that power-sharing is a VOLUNTARY UNDERTAKING and happens all the time with political parties. In the United Kingdom at the moment, the ruling parties are in a coalition - Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. No where does it state that you cannot do that.

Perhaps the ignorant, stupid and crazy Okoampa (who hides behind his misuse of the English language to advanced his dangerous rhetoric) needs reminding that in 2001 the Kuffuor government of the NPP party to which he (Okoampa) belongs appointed ministers from other parties in a Coalition government after they narrowly won the elections!!!

At the time of the 2000 polls, my personal call was for us to have a national unity government which indeed in my view should have included 'good elements' in the NDC party which had become so corrupt, unaccountable, arrogant and built on such a personality culture as Jerry Rawlings that many of his surrogates simply operated above the law of the land.

Just as I condemn those who seek to wield their political power 'beyond their true and actual powers', the so-called "galamsay politicians", in the same way I condemn those who seek to make themselves 'popular' through notoriety.

Okoampa in my view belongs to the latter and frankly, ghanaweb and other press and media houses should know by now that he has gone far enough with his dangerous rhetoric and incitement and it is about time his 'wings were clipped' for the sake of our country which he himself confesses he does not belong to!!!

If this is what they meant then they did not articulate their ideas well as reported. Including political foes in governance is done everywhere in the world including the US. As for you Prof. you talk about the importance of the rule of law yet you seem to pick sides even before the the SC gives its verdict in the case. Prof. is it not part of the rule of law to allow the SC to give its verdict before you suggest who is forensically guilty. That is not rule of allow. Rule of law is allowing the constitutionally mandated SC to give its verdict and you are free to accept or disagree.

The cry for Union gov't by the NDC appears to be an acceptance of guilt prior the Supreme court decision. Why did no advocate that earlier.

We can't criticize Nkrumah (especially by NPP) when he formed a one party state and kill Acheampong by firing squad(ironically by the founder of NDC)and now allow NPP and NDC to form Union gov't or one party state.
