Let's wait and hear the verdict before we know what next to do. All political parties cannot come together to form a Unity Government. Who shall be the President?. Our Constitution does not provide for such kangaroo wishy washy government. We trust the judges and their verdict shall be respected by all Ghanaians. No one was made to rule Ghana for ever. If the EC has not performed its job properly it shall be made known to us on 29th August. We shall cross the bridge when we get to it and not beforehand.

I totally disagree with the Archbishop on a coalition government. Coalition government is necessary where there is no majority in the Legislature. What Ghana needs is inclusion government.
Inclusion government is not the same as coalition government. Inclusion government means appointments into the civil service and other public bodies are based on merits and irrespective of one's political affiliation. It also means an end to a system where the appointees of previous government into the civil service and heads of public bodies are all dismissed by the new government because they were appointed by and are considered supporters of the old government/party and now opposition. It also means such appointees serving the government of the day with honesty and not using their positions to sabotage the new government because they owe allegiance to the previous government/party which is now in opposition. That is the problem Ghana has been experiencing in the Fourth Republic.
I say, no, no and no to coalition government. It's not necessary at this time because NDC has a clear majority in parliament. President Mahama can select appointees from the opposition parties if he wants to but not through a formalised coalition government arrangement.

Well, the sad reality is that blacks in different political parties can't work together. This must change NOW ! It is a very good idea to work together for the final three years of this administration to get the country on track for economic development. The owners of democracy are able to work together, so if we can't work together then democracy will not work for us, as a means of selecting our leadership.

If challenging the results of contested elections lead to a UNITY governance, then Ghana will never have electoral problems again. WHY?
Because the apparent PRESIDENTIAL LOSER in the 2016 elections can also petition the Supreme Court and after the SC's verdict, LEFT or RIGHT, all the parties should come together and form a UNITY government.
But, Mr. Red Hat, what about UNITY churches in Ghana—also for a change—since we have too many churches in Ghana cheating and stealing from ignorant, uneducated, poor and helpless people.
"SO, UNITY GOVERNMENT IS A BAD IDEA UNTIL WE SEE UNITY CHURCHES."

Respecting the rights of every citizen is the price Ghana paid for her independence, and no Ghanaian should be deprived of them, election or no election.
For peace to reign when the Supreme Court delivers its verdict on August 29,2013, the NDC and NPP party leaders will need to be clear in their minds and convey to their members that any form of criminality is unacceptable to party norms, and anyone involved in any form of crime will be handed over to the police.
It will send a strong message to all party affiliates that criminality is not an option in the party.

My friend, there are soo many government in the world that is built through coalitions. Who say that this suggestion is home book. Although my dislike for NDC is clear because of its way of ruling today, it is seems to me the best way for Ghana beside relection to avoid civil war and destruction in our country. If you have read the court last plead for the parties involved in the court case.
Once this is done, contractors will have the chance to finish their work even if changes of government comes. Especially both main parties will be forced to work together. NDC is without NPP down. Look how down our country today is? Almost all of our economic or business is not working rather the borrowing of devil's money is an ongoing process by the Mahama government. I am worried that many of us do not want to say the truth. How could Palmer-Buckle propose such a governing system for Ghana. Assuming there is another petition after 2016 general election, will we have another unity government. We listened to the case in court and when the judges rule on 29th August, everyone should obey the law. Those who want to appeal should go ahead and appeal for review. Individuals who decide to break the law should be handle by the appropriate authorities and forget about this dishonest person running away from saying the truth. Disappointed with such a proposal from Palmer-Buckle

The call by Bishop Burckle is rather an arbitrary one and smacks of hpypocrsity. To form a unity government following the verdict, regardless of whether the elections were free or fair in the name of bringing down tension beats my mind. Are we not operating according to a constitution? Is there a constitutional review. This call apparently has apparentely been the strategy of the NPP all along. where was the bishop when the NPP ruled for eight good years while the other partues waited patiently for the voters to return them to power? It 's unbecoming on the party of these socalled men of God to wade into matters that do not make sense. Bishop Burckle will you just accept women to be ordained as priests because people are agitating for that without any change in church doctrine? We cannot allow parties to come to power through the back door. To reward a party with unity government simply because they cannot they will not accept defeat is a stupid idea. shame onto this bishop

Are you serious Mr Archbishop? Have you seriously thought of the precedent that would set? If your proposal is allowed other parties will deliberately cry foul in future elections without cause and drag us through other lengthy court proceedings in order to end up in a coalition government. That MUST NOT be allowed to happen. In actual fact the party that dragged us to court, causing us billions of cedis of loss in productivity should be made to pick up the bill of the court case and also pay the GBC for the live coverage. The winner must be insane to consider a coalition government in a country like Ghana. Please ask God to show you a more reasonable proposal. The situation in countries where coalition governments are formed are very different: in all cases no individual party wins an outright majority to form a government which is why they seek help from other parties. That is a decision made at the ballot box, not as a consequence of a court hearing triggered by a delusional, know it all bully of a politician. In this instance Ghanaians must REJECT any calls for a unity government. The country has never been disunited except under the circumstances caused by greedy people who want to rule at all costs. If the people have rejected you as a their leader you had better be advised to accept their verdict.

Stupidly can a Church leader think he can unity churches. Every Church is different likewise Political Parties. He better unity all the churches and its member from stealing elections and ghanaians money, Preach you members and stop giving unless advice on something you dont know.
He is a Shame to the church by talking about politics and by thinking unity is best. We are not made by God to unite thats is why people like Palmer-Buckle are created to divide the churches in Ghana. If wanted unity he would create people with different ideas.
NPP is a party for the people and NDC is the party of the mass. Its never the same parties and will never be the same.
If I was his church member I would have advice him not to talk about Politics because it is something that come a go likewise what he is trained to do. Unite people to belief that Jusus Christ the man from Arabia is not dead, but God who is every where is keeping him and will bring him back.

This reminds me of King Solomon and the two women, each claiming to be the true mother of one special child. Now that NDC is loosing the battle, they are proposing a unitary government. Ok, NPP will have to rule Ghana for the same number of years that NDC has stolen previous elections to rule; that is 24 years before anyone brings on board, the institution of a unitary Government. How can thieves be working at the same office with the owners of masters whose items have been stolen for a considerable number of years? How can a party which aims at paying fraudulent judgment debt to themselves be working with those who propose free education? I mean those two don't match. How can we be mixing gari and rice before cooking? How can the hawk be sleeping in the same cage with the chicken? I mean this can never work so just stop the nonsense and wait for the Supreme court verdict. The entire International community did watch it live and have made up their minds already so it is a big test to the judges not to mess up the case because the evidence is clear just as Afari gyan confessed stealing the elections for jon thief Mahama so please don't bring this kind of system in Ghana because it just won't work.

That is what I mean by the two women wanting to own the child at the same time but you know it won't work because NDC's line of action is far different from that of NPP. While NPP institute free maternal care, National Health Insurance scheme for all, School feeding program, while at the same time constructing N1 Highways and modernized sports stadium, the Bui dam and others, NDC is always planning to create, loot and share the country's national cake. I mean these thieves cannot be working together with the honest thinking NPP men ok? No to unitary government because it cannot work.

The Government also demanded that the paper not publish details of how UK telecoms firms, including BT and Vodafone, were secretly collaborating with GCHQ to intercept the vast majority of all internet traffic entering the country. The paper had details of the highly controversial and secret programme for over a month. But it only published information on the scheme – which involved paying the companies to tap into fibre-optic cables entering Britain – after the allegations appeared in the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung. A Guardian spokeswoman refused to comment on any deal with the Government.

In the area of heads of public boards and corporations, there were loads of appointees from various walks of life, most of whom I am sure did not carry NPP membership cards. That is what the Bishop is talking about.
We have been infringing the Constitution with careless abandon. Political parties are supposed to publish their election accounts no more than six months after an election. Which party, apart from Nduom's party has ever published its accounts in the last 21 years? Which part of the Constitution authorised the presidency and other ministers to over-spend their budgets by up to 200% in some cases, without recourse to Parliament?
How did GYEEDA manage to get all those juicy contracts without Parliamentary approval? How did they get paid 100% of their fees without doing up to 10% of the contract in some cases?
Sorry, I do not belong to any party in Ghana. In fact, I have only ever voted thrice in Ghana all my life, 1992, 1996 and 2000! But I am a keen observer of everything Ghanaian because I have businesses that pay taxes for idiots to fritter away. And talking about teams, the A team you spoke about grew Ghana's economy by more than 300% in 8 years. They also added just about 1.5bn to Ghana's external debt, 30% in 8 years? Not 84% in three years according their own team C Finance Minister!

It is in the nature of electoral democracy for the winning party to govern because the assumption is that the electorate have given their approval to the policies and political agenda on which they fought the elections.
I don't believe that the problem with Ghana politics could be blamed on the so called winner takes all syndrome.
There is nothing in electoral democracy which prevents winning political parties from co-opting members of the opposition into government. If our political parties wish to follow this practice would it stop the infantile politics we see in Ghana today? I don't think so.
The country is so polarized that some view politics as duel like confrontation. They also see politics as money making venture. They want political access as a means to enrich themselves therefore when they lose elections they find it very difficult to accept the verdict. Because their access to state resources is cut off they tend to spread all sorts of silly and dangerous rumors about people in the governing party.
As a result the opposition fail to hold the governing party to account, fail to monitor how power is used and abused and become lazy and unconcerned about the plight of the people.
The so called opinion leaders are as usual indulging in trivialities at the expense of substance. There is nothing wrong with winner takes all politics

There will be no unity government ever in Ghana. It's even biblical the saying that, "what has light got to do with darkness", the two cannot and can never be together. Ghanaians believe in a contest of ideas, policies, programs, and the human resource base to actualize and bring to fruition their dreams, hopes and aspirations, and having weighed all that vis-à-vis the gov't in power and the various opposition parties, then make a valid and emphasis on valid choice, on who they intend to entrust their mandate to, to ensure the fulfilling of their socio-economic goals.
Ghanaians are saying that, recent events have led to the truncation of their popular mandate having listened to the very trying contest of ideas that preceded the elections of the 2012 elections, and they are saying that, the right, proper and just thing needs to be done. Ghanaians are saying the manipulation and all the various acts that led to the situation we find ourselves needs to be reversed and not this absurd proposition of a unity gov't. The discerning Ghanaian electorate deserves and demands RESPECT from our institutions, from our politicians, from our various stakeholders, and that is the only way, the country can move forward, It's time for truth, honesty, justice, accountability which are all some of the aspects of a good and functioning democracy to be upheld, going forward as a country. Ghana cannot afford to fail this test and unity gov't is not and can never be the solution of such a blatant, scandalous, manipulative, corruption and fraudulent process, which disrespects and insults the intelligence of the Ghanaian.

Dear Bishop, stay away from politics. In any election there is a looser and a winner. In this case there will be a winner and a looser as well. Why do you want the NDC Government to share the fruit of their hard work with the power drunk and bad losers? If you do so then it's no more democracy rather a joke. No power should be shared with anybody. Let the looser fight for power and get it through democratic consultation in 2016. The idea of the Bishop is very wrong and irrational.
