Bah! All of you critising and insulting Ms Hammah are just small-minded simpletons who support lying with no idea about how the governance system works. The lady decided not to lie to the audience and here you are insulting her for not lying! I learned very early that when one gives an apology for a thing like that, it is good etiquette to give a reason! She gave an honest reason for not reading the speech given to her, not tell a lie. Good grief! And for that, she is being insulted and called all kinds of names, for not lying? It shows how mentally warped, devious and corrupt you yourselves are to expect her to lie! She is no liar like you blokes! Yes, she has every right to reprimand and shame subordinates who mess up under her. What about if she had returned to the Ministry, sack or suspend the person responsible and the story appears in the press? Any difference?
For once, we have someone who is very transparent, who says it like it is, not the so-called old, experienced, corrupt, "thieves and thiefettes" that walk the corridors of office! And, all you jerks can think of is to be insulting her in your parochial, ignorant ways.
Do you blokes really have any idea how those speeches for Ministers, bosses get produced? For many years, I watched my father sat up late writing those speeches to be delivered the next day or during the week. When I was in Legon, I also started assisting him before I got fed up (I hated it when I read in the papers what we spent time to write being attributed to someone else's father) and it was left alone to my in-law who lives with us to assist him, if necessary, until we banned him from bringing such work home simply to be done more efficiently than the staff in the office. Well, it involved a lot of accounting work touching on govt directives to exporters and importers on duties and taxes. If you blokes have a clue how much is entailed in doing that, and getting that right on time, you'd realise that Ms Hammah no doubt didn't have the time to read through again what she sent back for the corrections she pointed out to be made. She must trust that her staff are dependable and can deliver what she expects of them, something which they were definitely not doing, which was a headache for my dad. She's got a high standard which they were not meeting and she let out her frustrations in public, thus breaking a civil service protocol.
But breaking protocol is perfectly right as a political tool to make a point and draw attention to a nagging issue: the canker of mediocrity and incompetence in the public service which we all bemoan. She has indeed provided an "innovative intervention in the governance process". Civil servants who failed to deliver risk public shame and shall henceforth be on tenterhooks to deliver.
The whites who handed us those anonymity of civil servants principles had to evolve them over decades of try and error. A reading of the political history of those countries will make many of you shocked at what was going on!
Get off the back of the lady, you ignorant fools! She is certainly above your mediocre and morally bankrupt class!

Shame on Vanderpuije and the whole administration. You did it to Ohene Djan and now to this sweet old lady. Hurray to Theodosia for standing up and speaking up.
Ghanaians should take a cue from this old lady and protest the evil, corruption, and hardships in the society. BRAVO Theodosia!!!!!!

She did not do her homework and that is a mark of incompetence. No one is criticizing her for not reading through the nonsensical speech.
You indicated that your father did his homework and ensured that he got the correct material for what he was being paid.
It seems you are creating a straw man and then going forward to destroy it.

Most of her supporters are creating straw man for their tribal and political gains. Some support her just because she is one of them and others support her just because she an NDC member. My friend, Andy is just being emotional about his without arguing on any points.
This is what I wrote about the case yesterday.
---------
It is wrong for anyone to call for her dismissal, but it is equally wrong for anyone to support this classless and unethical behavior due of a National deputy minister. I am surprised that Dan has created his own straw man or Aunt Sally and trying hard to clutch onto it like a drowning man.
Firstly, no one is complaining about her right and ability to edit the speech before her presentation. Far from it, many agree that she was right to edit the speech to her likeness. I don't think any sane person will disagree with her.
Secondly, I am yet to read from anyone who is complaining about Hammah's choice or action NOT to use the wrong speech. Of course, it did not make sense and that was why she edited that, so why should she continue to use it? That is not the problem here.
Thirdly, I believe that many of her accusers would have joined the audience to applaud her when she decided to continue her speech by not using anything but from "her mind." I personally found it disheartening to see our learned lawyers in the SC reading from papers in their oral addresses. I have asked myself what was the point then to ask them to submit a written address also. So like many readers, it was a refreshing to see her not reading from any paper.
And lastly, no one is complaining about her "flawless" English. I have combed the net to listen to the full tape but could not find it. May be Dan could do us a favor by providing the link for us to talk about that.
What many are complaining is the way she went about this whole "mistake" or sabotage as she wants us to believe. It was classless and unethical becoming of a deputy Minister of a Nation. Let us be clear on this; she is not on TRAINING GROUND for a job, but rather a LEADER that people are looking up to and expecting results of her action.
Based on the reason above, she is more than a professional and every profession has ethical standards that the body must adhere to. This is what many of you get it wrong. Out of over possible 5 million available leaders, 100 Ministers have been chosen by Mahama to assist him to lead the 24 million people. We can't just say that we are from a 3rd world country or developing Nation, so we have to accept anything. That is wrong; it breeds mediocrity.
If she is considered as professional, how could you say that she was right to reprimand her assistant publicly? Do you think a medical doctor can or should reprimand his nurse in front of his patients? Do you think it will be right for our President to reprimand her publicly? If your answer is yea, then you are not a professional, yet. If your answer is nay, then what is your point of supporting and encouraging this tactless behavior?
Danny, you cited Obama in your straw man, but do believe this lady would be spared by the US Media for this kind of behavior? And do you think what would have happened to the Assistant who supposedly try to "sabotage her? Answer that truthfully and see why it is wrong for anyone of you to encourage this classless act.
Fact is, she did not know whether or not it was mistake by her assistant or by herself? However, she has created an impression that there are crooks in her ministry. Remember, the policy could have been written without a nod from the President. So how does he want us to believe the President and Party surrounded with crooks? Or, you think team-work is not important here but it should be about her integrity only?
Have you seen Ministers, leaders or any presenter covering the MIC or step away from the mic when talking to their assistant while at any podium giving a speech? What did she actually achieved by letting everyone know about her predicament? Would that make a change or would she go on and fire the suspect in this "crime?"
In your conclusion, you are giving her "tips" to go about her duty next time. If you knew that she made a "mistake," why can't you say so? Yes, I do agree with you that, in this age, ministers should leave home without a copy of their edited speech together with laptop and USB flash drive. Mahama's laptop for them were not to stay on Facebook, twitter and Instagram posting silly stuff.
On personal note- I hope things are getting better at your end.

Now, I am neither NDC supporter nor a member of Ms Hammah's tribal conglomerate, whatever it is. So where does that put me among her supporters except my own categorisation as an independent-minded ardent pro-Nkrumahist?
This is what I wrote in response to you on the other thread.
Ah! You think you can get me with that not being emotional ruse of the so-called scientific or positivist clap-trap of the imperialists, while they plundered, enslaved and colonised you?? No way!
Can you tell us whether all the insults and subjective judgements being passed on Ms Hammah are not emotional and are indeed objective, whatever that means? This is a social cum political issue, so how can you divorce emotions from it?
I had read this piece and yours. I won't spend time pointing out the obvious flaws in both posts, as my position is completely in a different paradigm. Note that I didn't argue that Ms Hammah didn't break any established protocol: she did! But she is not the first either. Breaking established norms and patterns is what lead to change. So I argued and rationalised why her breaking protocol is a good thing after all. That's what I expect to be challenged on, not some old-mangled convention dropped on us by whites without the necessary acculturation.
BTW, I wonder if the people of Cape Coast- or is it Winneba? - are still calling their festival Deer Festival after JJ told them that there were no deers in Ghana, indeed, Africa. Phew!

It is like what they used to say in the old days- " de3 wo ka nyinaa yate, nso yemfa" to wit, we have heard all what you are saying but we will not listen.
She is trying to be different but she should be careful to plunge the administration into gutter with her utterance. She should not think she is directly working for Ghana. She is still under someone.
Amidu was fired not because he was not that good, but rather they needed him to have a teamwork skills which he lacks. This lady will follow not because she might not be good, but she needs to learn to work together with the team. After she has established, she can do whatever she wants.
Have you heard from Oye Lithur recently? She was always against JAK on Gay and Kayoye issues, calling it human rights issues. The homophobes are taking their fights to the government and I am yet to hear from her.
In Africa, change does not come from within, it comes from outside. If she wanted to be a maverick politician, she should be an independent. It is always better to pee in from outside. No African politician is allowed to pee in from inside.
But thanks for the laugh

No matter what the ndc and their agent provocateurs say the fact remains the country can never move forward if the majority are marginalized and excluded from truly being represented as is the the case today. after killing mills these criminals have used ideology , propaganda , election trickery and engineering leading up to rigging of the vote with the help of the heavily politicized national security . anyone who dares cry foul is persecuted by the police and lately the judiciary . we now have a govt lopsided in favor of minorities such as the ayigbe and muslim northerners , this act alone proves none of them ever believed in ghana talk less of equal opportunity for all citizens irrespective of their background. we have no choice but to recognize these facts and do what is necessary to stop the process of colonization by these misfits . the divisions among us are so great its now evident to all its only a matter when this will lead to conflict and war. they think because they control the judiciary , nation security and other institutions of oppression that they are safe but i will remind them that's what the communists in Romania , Saddam in Iraq , Gaddafi in Libya and even the British imperialists thought. the Lord is on our side and we shall soon have our freedom . the economy is going backwards , even their own people dont believe in prosperity so are hurriedly pillaging the coffers , corruption of such magnitude that they dont even bother investigating or trying to rectify these crimes in short a mess which is skydiving into a disastrous catastrophe just as Sodom and Gomorrah were until fire erased them . pepeni at the drop of a hat runs to the most ridiculous of meetings just so he may not be caught in the country when things explode . they persecute the npp but dont realise its a different kind of leader that is born in times of war and those leaders a waiting patiently for the clarion call , long live the republic of Akan . to all those who wish and pray for the de Akanization of Ghana i say may you all be burned alive

Vicky Hammah is a big fool for reacting to this whole scandal and moreso through a press release and particularly calling her critics names. Does she know what strategic communications is all about? She should have simply kept quiet or just apologise, how sweet that would have been and imagine how much public empathy and respect this wise gesture would have elicited. This woman is just not cut for the country's communications ministry which should have strategic communications as a core priority in all its relations with the media and of course the public. Now vicky has only succeeded in heaping more fire on the coalpot and now the media and the public have more than enough to to tear her apart. Her reaction does not only smack of disrespect to Ghanaians but childish arrogance and mediocrity to the high heavens. Whoever pushed her to resort to a press release has done her so much disservice, Vic Hammah has indeed shown that she is indeed childish and petty. I cant believe that she issued that press statement, did she think through her reaction? If she thinks the public hates her so much and there are chauvinist, misogynic, ageist and similar reactionary tendencies ready to snap at every move of hers the right thing for her to do is to just get out. She is simply not a communications material. She should just get back to her sex talk program . That is where her expertise lies.
