I am getting the feeling that our mediamen and women seem bereft of where else to get news, except at church services and of religious leaders.

It is not that I don't want them to cover churches, but I think they should report on things that would urge people on to give of their godly best within and outside church. And I know this theme is what Pastors preach on, rather than news as reported here which do not add to the good of our forward match. By all means Bishop Duncan-Williams might have said many more soul uplifting things in his preaching that day, but why pick on this aspect.

The person who called you to say something about T.B Joshua, if really somebody did is a naive person because you and T.B Joshua are are cut from the same cloth, using the Bible and the word of God to enrich yourselves, you are not better than T.B Joshua and as a matter of fact, your sermon to your congregation is a subtle dig at T.B Joshua if we examine what you really wanted to say. You have subtly condemned him just by broaching on the matter by impugning that T.B Joshua did something that people wanted you to condemn.

The question to ask is, " Has T B Joshua eliminated poverty in Nigeria ? " What about all the sicknesses and diseases in Nigeria ? What about armed robbery ? What about Nigerian 419 scammers ? What about Boko Haram ? Why doesn't TBJ solve their problems in Nigeria before telling Ghanaians that this bogus water would solve their problems ?

Remember that John Atta Mills was the Chief Consumer of this fake water. He drank gallons of them, which were sent to him by special courier or through diplomatic bag. It was carefully packaged with all the worthless " anointing " of T B Joshua, and not surprisingly Atta Mills died. Is it any wonder when people say T B Joshua killed Atta Mills ? Because TBJ deceived Atta Mills, causing him to believe that this worthless water could heal him. The professor and president himself was deceived, so what do ordinary Ghanaians think this water could do for them ?

TB JOSHUA- PROPHET OF GOD OR SATAN?

Sometimes I wonder if Jesus was walking the land of Jerusalem today if he would be on TV. Would CNN, Al-Jazeera, BBC and the other popular networks broadcast his ministry and miracles live? Would he be like Rev. Benny Hinn, donning a $50,000 Rolex watch or like Prophet T. B. Joshua, with a flashy Nollywood smile and a cool $20 million in the bank? Would the savior of mankind, live in a sprawling 15-bedroom mansion? Would Jesus ride to miracle healing crusades in his own private Jet with all the pomp and showmanship?

I have no doubt millions of eyes would be glued to TV sets as he performed the miracle of feeding 5,000 hungry mouths with only five loaves of bread. Would he prophesy the results of soccer matches and the death of presidents? What would he say about modern prophets like Jesus One Touch? Would he silently ignore them or lash out with the flash of a whip and the sharpness of rebuke?

All humans want to know the unknown, or even the unknowable. We are wired by God to want to know what tomorrow holds. It is probably why we are so fascinated by those who claim to know the future or who claim to possess the gift of prophecy. At the birth of 2013, one of Africa’s popular ‘men of God’, the Nigerian Prophet T. B. Joshua issued his prophecy for the New Year, as usual. My childhood friend, Fiifi, who follows and hangs on to every word the Yoruba miracle worker says, told me about the prophecies. I decided to check them out. Fiifi’s passion was too strong to ignore.

T. B. Joshua prophesied that “many great, famous, rich men and politicians will become helpless and in need of help in matters of sickness, disease, finances and death”. I looked at Fiifi in amazement, as to why he believed this was a prophecy. This is not a prophecy but a generalized statement. There are thousands of famous and great men in the world, so naturally some would get into trouble. Every week some famous person dies or gets into trouble around the world. In the USA alone, for instance, some star or famous person gets into trouble almost every day. If I say there is going to be a storm in the USA that is going to cause destruction this year, it is not a prophecy. It is a simple geographical fact.

Psychics and con artists use these tricks all the time. They tell you there is a man in your family named Mensah trying to harm you spiritually. Of course, they know almost everybody in Ghana has a Mensah in their family or knows one who is close. Do people believe these fake prophets because they desperately want a miracle in their life so badly that a fake miracle is better than no miracle? Well, a fake miracle is no miracle. A fake miracle is like the ostrich solution to problems, it is the alcoholic’s solution to problems. Once you are drunk, the problem disappears. However, the problem reappears when the drunken stupor fades off. This is not a solution, it is denial and lying to oneself.

T. B. Joshua’s other prophecy tickled me blue. He said, “Those in the foodstuff business will have a field day this year. Farming and agriculture will be the order of the day and will help greatly to be the source of solution this year. People engaged in it will be greatly blessed,” Why would anyone consider this a prophecy? Is this over-baked, redundant, recycled financial advice or what? Last year a cargo plane crashed in Accra, the Melcolm building collapsed but Joshua did not see it to warn us. What is the purpose of these ‘prophesies’ if it serves no purpose and helps nobody? Where is the next Tsunami going to be? That’s what we want to know, so we can be ready.

Can Temitope Joshua prophesy the Boston bombing next time before it happens, rather than ‘predicting’ it after it has happened? If he had prophesied the Boston Marathon bombing, his name would be on every major network in the world. Oprah, CNN, NBC,New York Times and all the big networks would be at his door begging for an interview. He did not prophesy the Boston bombing. That is the fact that the whole world knows except the gullible followers of Joshua in Ghana and Nigeria.

People like TB Joshua and their fake miracles thrive in non-questioning, semi-literate societies, where superstition is rife even among the educated. Why would the great omnipotent Jehovah reveal such useless prophecies? These prophecies are definitely not from God. They are from the demented mind of one who seeks fame and money and know how to manipulate a society of gullible zombies.

Joshua did not prophesy the Melcolm building collapsing which would have saved many lives. Neither did he prophesy the crashing of a cargo plane into a bus at Kotoka Airport. When Accra Sports stadium collapsed, he did not see it. Even when President Mills was stricken with cancer and on the verge of death, he did not see it. When a tsunami devastated Japan, Joshua did not see it. God does not show Joshua revelations that would save lives. God only reveals soccer scores, election results and mushed-up general statements that help no one. Attributing these cheap ‘revelations’ to God is blasphemy. Yahweh, the creator of the universe, with billions of stars and galaxies, cannot do better than giving useless financial advice?

Joseph in the Bible interpreted dreams that averted a famine and saved the lives of millions of people. Moses saved many Israelites from the plagues that devastated Pharoah, because his predictions came true and were time specific.

How would such prophesies be received in educated countries like Germany, Canada or Japan? Nobody in any developed, educated world of critically thinking people would see Balogun Joshua’s statement as prophecies. However, among many Africans, these are words from the Almighty Yahweh himself. Joshua is sleek, shrewd and a good stage magician, who can fool millions of gullible, desperate Africans. He has amassed wealth to the tune of $20 million. Needless, to say, he has tricked his way into great wealth. Man can be fooled, but the most sophisticated sakawa, 419 tactics cannot trick God. Just like Obinim, Jesus One Touch, Bishop Eddie Long and all the many false prophets had come crashing down, time would show that Bishop Temitope Balogun Joshua cannot trick God.

Sometimes I wonder if Jesus was walking the land of Jerusalem today if he would be on TV. Would CNN, Al-Jazeera, BBC and the other popular networks broadcast his ministry and miracles live? Would he be like Rev. Benny Hinn, donning a $50,000 Rolex watch or like Prophet T. B. Joshua, with a flashy Nollywood smile and a cool $20 million in the bank? Would the savior of mankind, live in a sprawling 15-bedroom mansion? Would Jesus ride to miracle healing crusades in his own private Jet with all the pomp and showmanship?

I have no doubt millions of eyes would be glued to TV sets as he performed the miracle of feeding 5,000 hungry mouths with only five loaves of bread. Would he prophesy the results of soccer matches and the death of presidents? What would he say about modern prophets like Jesus One Touch? Would he silently ignore them or lash out with the flash of a whip and the sharpness of rebuke?

All humans want to know the unknown, or even the unknowable. We are wired by God to want to know what tomorrow holds. It is probably why we are so fascinated by those who claim to know the future or who claim to possess the gift of prophecy. At the birth of 2013, one of Africa’s popular ‘men of God’, the Nigerian Prophet T. B. Joshua issued his prophecy for the New Year, as usual. My childhood friend, Fiifi, who follows and hangs on to every word the Yoruba miracle worker says, told me about the prophecies. I decided to check them out. Fiifi’s passion was too strong to ignore.

T. B. Joshua prophesied that “many great, famous, rich men and politicians will become helpless and in need of help in matters of sickness, disease, finances and death”. I looked at Fiifi in amazement, as to why he believed this was a prophecy. This is not a prophecy but a generalized statement. There are thousands of famous and great men in the world, so naturally some would get into trouble. Every week some famous person dies or gets into trouble around the world. In the USA alone, for instance, some star or famous person gets into trouble almost every day. If I say there is going to be a storm in the USA that is going to cause destruction this year, it is not a prophecy. It is a simple geographical fact.

Psychics and con artists use these tricks all the time. They tell you there is a man in your family named Mensah trying to harm you spiritually. Of course, they know almost everybody in Ghana has a Mensah in their family or knows one who is close. Do people believe these fake prophets because they desperately want a miracle in their life so badly that a fake miracle is better than no miracle? Well, a fake miracle is no miracle. A fake miracle is like the ostrich solution to problems, it is the alcoholic’s solution to problems. Once you are drunk, the problem disappears. However, the problem reappears when the drunken stupor fades off. This is not a solution, it is denial and lying to oneself.

T. B. Joshua’s other prophecy tickled me blue. He said, “Those in the foodstuff business will have a field day this year. Farming and agriculture will be the order of the day and will help greatly to be the source of solution this year. People engaged in it will be greatly blessed,” Why would anyone consider this a prophecy? Is this over-baked, redundant, recycled financial advice or what? Last year a cargo plane crashed in Accra, the Melcolm building collapsed but Joshua did not see it to warn us. What is the purpose of these ‘prophesies’ if it serves no purpose and helps nobody? Where is the next Tsunami going to be? That’s what we want to know, so we can be ready.

Can Temitope Joshua prophesy the Boston bombing next time before it happens, rather than ‘predicting’ it after it has happened? If he had prophesied the Boston Marathon bombing, his name would be on every major network in the world. Oprah, CNN, NBC,New York Times and all the big networks would be at his door begging for an interview. He did not prophesy the Boston bombing. That is the fact that the whole world knows except the gullible followers of Joshua in Ghana and Nigeria.

People like TB Joshua and their fake miracles thrive in non-questioning, semi-literate societies, where superstition is rife even among the educated. Why would the great omnipotent Jehovah reveal such useless prophecies? These prophecies are definitely not from God. They are from the demented mind of one who seeks fame and money and know how to manipulate a society of gullible zombies.

Joshua did not prophesy the Melcolm building collapsing which would have saved many lives. Neither did he prophesy the crashing of a cargo plane into a bus at Kotoka Airport. When Accra Sports stadium collapsed, he did not see it. Even when President Mills was stricken with cancer and on the verge of death, he did not see it. When a tsunami devastated Japan, Joshua did not see it. God does not show Joshua revelations that would save lives. God only reveals soccer scores, election results and mushed-up general statements that help no one. Attributing these cheap ‘revelations’ to God is blasphemy. Yahweh, the creator of the universe, with billions of stars and galaxies, cannot do better than giving useless financial advice?

Joseph in the Bible interpreted dreams that averted a famine and saved the lives of millions of people. Moses saved many Israelites from the plagues that devastated Pharoah, because his predictions came true and were time specific.

How would such prophesies be received in educated countries like Germany, Canada or Japan? Nobody in any developed, educated world of critically thinking people would see Balogun Joshua’s statement as prophecies. However, among many Africans, these are words from the Almighty Yahweh himself. Joshua is sleek, shrewd and a good stage magician, who can fool millions of gullible, desperate Africans. He has amassed wealth to the tune of $20 million. Needless, to say, he has tricked his way into great wealth. Man can be fooled, but the most sophisticated sakawa, 419 tactics cannot trick God. Just like Obinim, Jesus One Touch, Bishop Eddie Long and all the many false prophets had come crashing down, time would show that Bishop Temitope Balogun Joshua cannot trick God.

This does not of course mean that others may not possess that gift. As christians, we know from reading our bible that there are men of God who have the gift of God to heal, prophesy etc. Yes, there may be conmen in the christianity business today. How are you able to tell who is who? This is an area where one has to be circumspect wandering into. Do you have any evidence when you claim that T. B. Joshua or for that matter, Duncan Williams is fake? My advice to you, if you profess to be a christian is to be careful in not following the trend of criticism of all who claim to be men of God with divine calling. As well as being a religious institution, christianity is a social institution and can be freely criricised. But Bernard, don't do this willy-nilly.

For many thinking people, who are not handicapped by sensationalism and blind loyalty to cult figures, why an educated and intelligent person like President Mills would seek the company of the self-styled Nigerian prophet T.B. Joshua, is problematic. Many questions crop up naturally. Did President Mills go to the Nigerian prophet to seek healing? Did Mills waste precious time and energy seeking the counsel of T.B. Joshua instead of seeking immediate medical attention? Cancer is a disease that needs prompt and aggressive treatment. There is no time to waste or play around with the sugar-laced promises of self-styled prophets
The British police investigated the Nigerian prophet based on information that he had asked people, terminally ill people from cancer, and AIDs to stop taking their medications and rely solely on his prayers and miracle spring water. Many have died as a result of putting their health and life in the hands of famous tele evangelists and other faith healers.
On a healing crusade in Portland, Oregon, Benny Hinn, one of the most popular and wealthiest tele evangelists in the world claimed to have healed a 10yr old boy, Ashnil Prakash, who suffered from two brain tumors. For many who believe in the power of the faith healer, it was a day of triumph and celebration. His poor family was ecstatic and pledged thousands of dollars to Hinn. Seven weeks later Ashnil died, from the same illness Benny Hinn had supposedly eradicated miraculously.
Marco Siewkumar was also proclaimed healed by Benny Hinn at a miracle healing crusade in Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, in Trinidad. The man suffered from hypertension, heart disease and kidney failure. His healing was broadcasted around the world on Christian television cable channel by Hinn. Among rapturous applause at the packed stadium, Marco was paraded on stage and triumphantly declared healed by Pastor Hinn. What the adoring fans at the stadium and the faithful millions who watched on TV did not know was that Marco would die 33 days later, after the so-called miracle healing, from the same ailment.
These deaths are kept a secret from the world of believers. Millions of dollars pour into the bank account of the faith healer, as he becomes more popular and tons of afflicted people troop to him for miracles. In Africa, thousands die like Ashnil and Marco without any notice or attention. The few courageous Christians who dare raise any alarm, are warned by fellow Christians, not to touch the Lord’s anointed. To say many have died at the hands of Prophet T. B. Joshua, Obinim and others is not far-fetched. Was our dear president also a casualty?
Another famous American tele evangelist, the Rev. Peter Popoff, who almost single-handedly popularized the free miracle spring water business, was exposed for faking miracles. Asked why he would lie and trick, many afflicted, sick and dying Christians, Peter Popoff said it was all entertainment. He went into hiding for a couple of years but he is back on TV today, with a large faithful following, and still claims to have healing powers from God. Millions in donations from believers has not stopped.
There are more prophets in Ghana today than in the entire Bible. Nigeria, probably, has more prophets than Germany, Israel, Italy and the USA all combined. How come a small nation like Ghana has so many prophets? Have all the stage magicians, Opera-square tricksters and school drop-outs become prophets? When JSS drop-outs like Prophet T. B. Joshua are worth over $20 million, it is a no-brainer that money is the attraction, and not the message of Christ.
In one of his scripted and plainly fake videos on You Tube, Prophet T.B. Joshua claims to have raised a man from the dead, just like Jesus raised Lazarus. So is Joshua going to raise President Mills, his “spiritual son”, from the dead? That would be the miracle of the century. This time the death certificate would not be fake, the rolling cameras would not be those of Joshua’s paid sycophants, but those of CNN, BBC and the New York Times. We are waiting.
If our dear president went to see Joshua for healing, we should be careful pointing fingers at Prof. He was a fair president and a good man. When one has a medical condition that doctors find puzzling, with death staring one in the face, desperation and fear can make one seek help from the most questionable places. One becomes a sitting duck for quacks, charlatans and all manner of money-hungry con men. Our blame and anger should be directed at those who make a living off the pain and suffering of others, and not at the victims.
Did Jesus and his apostles make money off the suffering and misery of physically and mentally troubled people? No! They were selfless and humble. I don’t know if there is a name for those whose profession is to dangle false hope in the face of the troubled, sick, dying and destitute, out of greed and a hunger to inflate their egos and wield power. Psychologists would have to find stronger words, than socio-path and psychopath, to describe such cold, callous and heartless sub-human species.

Well, where did all these chosen characters come from anyway - how many of these are genuinely in the true service of the Almighty God, not a lot!! Truely Africa has more prophets of con and doom recorded per each poor country of the whole continent than anywhere else in the world. Why is the continent of Africa overloaded with such greedy men? Are we the only sinners needing redemption from God to be totally clouded with such false prophets, no, but we have just got too many conmen today willing to cheat their fellow innocent human beings for all they can get on the way to enrich themselves. For many thinking people, who are not handicapped by sensationalism and blind loyalty to cult figures, why an educated and intelligent person like President Mills would seek the company of the self-styled Nigerian prophet T.B. Joshua, is problematic. Many questions crop up naturally. Did President Mills go to the Nigerian prophet to seek healing? Did Mills waste precious time and energy seeking the counsel of T.B. Joshua instead of seeking immediate medical attention? Cancer is a disease that needs prompt and aggressive treatment. There is no time to waste or play around with the sugar-laced promises of self-styled prophets
The British police investigated the Nigerian prophet based on information that he had asked people, terminally ill people from cancer, and AIDs to stop taking their medications and rely solely on his prayers and miracle spring water. Many have died as a result of putting their health and life in the hands of famous tele evangelists and other faith healers.
On a healing crusade in Portland, Oregon, Benny Hinn, one of the most popular and wealthiest tele evangelists in the world claimed to have healed a 10yr old boy, Ashnil Prakash, who suffered from two brain tumors. For many who believe in the power of the faith healer, it was a day of triumph and celebration. His poor family was ecstatic and pledged thousands of dollars to Hinn. Seven weeks later Ashnil died, from the same illness Benny Hinn had supposedly eradicated miraculously.
Marco Siewkumar was also proclaimed healed by Benny Hinn at a miracle healing crusade in Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, in Trinidad. The man suffered from hypertension, heart disease and kidney failure. His healing was broadcasted around the world on Christian television cable channel by Hinn. Among rapturous applause at the packed stadium, Marco was paraded on stage and triumphantly declared healed by Pastor Hinn. What the adoring fans at the stadium and the faithful millions who watched on TV did not know was that Marco would die 33 days later, after the so-called miracle healing, from the same ailment.
These deaths are kept a secret from the world of believers. Millions of dollars pour into the bank account of the faith healer, as he becomes more popular and tons of afflicted people troop to him for miracles. In Africa, thousands die like Ashnil and Marco without any notice or attention. The few courageous Christians who dare raise any alarm, are warned by fellow Christians, not to touch the Lord’s anointed. To say many have died at the hands of Prophet T. B. Joshua, Obinim and others is not far-fetched. Was our dear president also a casualty?
Another famous American tele evangelist, the Rev. Peter Popoff, who almost single-handedly popularized the free miracle spring water business, was exposed for faking miracles. Asked why he would lie and trick, many afflicted, sick and dying Christians, Peter Popoff said it was all entertainment. He went into hiding for a couple of years but he is back on TV today, with a large faithful following, and still claims to have healing powers from God. Millions in donations from believers has not stopped.
There are more prophets in Ghana today than in the entire Bible. Nigeria, probably, has more prophets than Germany, Israel, Italy and the USA all combined. How come a small nation like Ghana has so many prophets? Have all the stage magicians, Opera-square tricksters and school drop-outs become prophets? When JSS drop-outs like Prophet T. B. Joshua are worth over $20 million, it is a no-brainer that money is the attraction, and not the message of Christ.
In one of his scripted and plainly fake videos on You Tube, Prophet T.B. Joshua claims to have raised a man from the dead, just like Jesus raised Lazarus. So is Joshua going to raise President Mills, his “spiritual son”, from the dead? That would be the miracle of the century. This time the death certificate would not be fake, the rolling cameras would not be those of Joshua’s paid sycophants, but those of CNN, BBC and the New York Times. We are waiting.
If our dear president went to see Joshua for healing, we should be careful pointing fingers at Prof. He was a fair president and a good man. When one has a medical condition that doctors find puzzling, with death staring one in the face, desperation and fear can make one seek help from the most questionable places. One becomes a sitting duck for quacks, charlatans and all manner of money-hungry con men. Our blame and anger should be directed at those who make a living off the pain and suffering of others, and not at the victims.
Did Jesus and his apostles make money off the suffering and misery of physically and mentally troubled people? No! They were selfless and humble. I don’t know if there is a name for those whose profession is to dangle false hope in the face of the troubled, sick, dying and destitute, out of greed and a hunger to inflate their egos and wield power. Psychologists would have to find stronger words, than socio-path and psychopath, to describe such cold, callous and heartless sub-human species.

The fact that a stampede for his anointing water resulted in deaths and injuries does not mean that TB Joshua is a false prophet. It is like saying that, football is bad and must be stopped because a stampede at a football match resulted in many deaths and injuries.

A pastor was at church when she received a phone call that her daughter was very sick with a fever. She left church and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication. She got back to her car and found that she had locked her keys in the car. She didn't know what to do, so she called home and told the baby sitter what had happened. The baby sitter told her that the fever was getting worse. She said, "You might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door."

The pastor looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had been left on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some time had locked their keys in their car. She looked at the hanger and said, "I don't know how to use this." She bowed her head and asked God to send her help. Within five minutes a beat up old motorcycle pulled up, with a dirty, greasy, bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head.

The pastor thought, "This is what you sent to help me?" But, she was desperate, so she was also very thankful. The man got off of his cycle and asked if he could help. She said, "Yes, my daughter is very sick. I stopped to get her some medication and I locked my keys in my car. I must get home to her. Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?" He said, "Sure." He walked over to the car, and in less than a minute the car was open. She hugged the man and through her tears she said, "Thank You So Much! You are a very nice man."

The man replied, "Lady, I am not a nice man. I just got out of prison today. I was in prison for car theft and have only been out for about an hour." The pastor hugged the man again and with sobbing tears cried out loud, "Oh, Thank you God! You even sent me a Professional!"
