if the Bill makes this mandatory for even Ghanaian firms to register with GIPC then I find this to be a duplication of efforts because they are already registered with the registrar of companies. Can someone please explain?

Thats not true. Most countries protect certain sectors of the economy for their citizens. In the U.S. you cant own 100% of an airline if you are a foreigner. You cant own 100% of a broadcasting company. And only U.S. made shi ...

Thats not true. Most countries protect certain sectors of the economy for their citizens. In the U.S. you cant own 100% of an airline if you are a foreigner. You cant own 100% of a broadcasting company. And only U.S. made ships with U.S. personnel and where its 70% owned by a U.S. citizen its allowed to participate in inland sea transport. Its called the Jones Act. Same applies in India, China and Brazil.

THIS IS A GREAT BILL FOR GHANA. BRAVO TO THE ONE WHO CAME UP WITH SUCH IDEA FOR GHANA. NOW THIS BILL HAS TO BE ENFORCED TO THE FULLEST AND ANY GHANAIAN WHO TRY TO SABOTAGE IT MUST BE CHARGED WITH TREASON.

I believe in this bill because Ghanaians can own up to their responsibilities as citizens to work hard towards the development of Ghana. If some-one thinks the bill is stupid,i will disagree because the foreign competition in Ghana right now does not fever any Ghanaians, and this leaves the privet sector to suffer;I am happy government finally is doing something to correct the issue, given Ghanaians an unlimited chance to comfortable, developed,proactive lives; this is what i call development.

Most of it is in the extractive industries which are capital intensive and not labor intensive and hence doesnt alleviate poverty. Most of these foreign retail companies have been repatriating funds out of Ghana for decades. The Lebanese and Indians do no investing in fixed assets.

Let's see more marketing activities from the centre. The name clearly says 'investment promotion'> Are you doing the job? Ghana must be marketed internally and externally. The centre must coordinate the ectivities of all the investment agencies Eg Bank of Ghana,GRA, Ghana Ports and Harbours Autority etc.. How can the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority demand Tax Clearance certificate from a newly registered company before goods are cleared from the ports? Why are imported goods tempared with when they are in the hands of Port Authorities? What is the role of Clearing Agents? So when the GPHA make it mandatory for their services to be employed before goods can be cleared what are they really saying? Can we see Cutoms, GRA, the banks working on the same document eg invoice, if not so why? Why does the GRA wait for years before telling us that they have closed down a company for nor payment of taxes? Will SSNIT start issuing statements to its client? etc.....

Fourty-one years on we are enacting a law that effectively reintroduces that concept, except that there in no one forced to leave the country.
