VALCO was supposed to operate on the hydro power which costs 3cents per unit so if you decide to operate on crude oil which is 33cents per unit then you must also decide on what you want whether domestic consumers who leave their lights on for 24 hours and offices who leave their air-conditions on over night should enjoy 3cents while industries pay the 33cents

This is one decision in many that our leaders have made. Ghana should hasten the proposed aluminium integrated process to create more jobs for the youth. The World Bank just want the Valco Smelter to be shut down in order that they can conveniently porch the remaining loyal workers now on site to other European, Asian or Arab Aluminium Smelters scatered around the globe. The few staffs are so loyal to the extent that despite their very low salary scale they still continue to sacrifice to ensure the Company returns to a normal operational level to break even before considering salary adjustments. I hope the Authorities would at least support them to have power to expand or increase their production to enable them employ more Ghanaians and better the lot of our economy since it is believed that when the inergrated aluminium industry takes off it would pay more than even the oil find. VRA/GRIDCO should sit up and support VALCO to succed because their Technicians and Engineers are all a force to reckon with.

All along I have been thinking that Ghana is a zombee country accepting all the recommendations of the World Bank until now.
I have one question for the Ghanaian authorities: Why did they find it prudent to accept the banks directives to relegate agricultural activities to the bottom of the priority ladder? We are now a country of importers, from toothpicks to used bras.
Today rice farm lands are lying fallow in the rice producing regions of the country and we are importing rice from all over the world. What a shame.

A husband and wife were having a fine dining experience at their exclusive country club when this stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big kiss, says she'll see him later and walks away.
His wife glares at him and says, "Who was that?"
"Oh," replies the husband, "she's my mistress."
"Well that's the last straw," says the wife. "I've had enough, I want a divorce. I am going to hire the most aggressive, meanest divorce lawyer I can find and make your life miserable."
"I can understand that," replies her husband, "but remember, if we get a divorce it will mean no more wintering in Key West, or the Caribbean, no more summers in Tuscany, no more Cadillac STS in the garage, and no more country club, and we'll have to sell the 26-room house and move to two smaller homes, but the decision is yours."
Just then, a mutual friend enters the restaurant with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.
"Who's that with Jim?" asks the wife.
"That's his mistress," says her husband.
She replies, "Ours is prettier."
WE WILL KEEP VALCO THAT IS OUR MISTRESS BECAUSE HE IS PRETTIER.WE DONT NEED AN UGLY WORLD BANK THAT HAS THE QUICKIE MENTALITY OF BEING PAID FOR THEIR OWN INTEREST.

Valco may be operating at a loss because it is not paying the full cost of the power it consumes. The question is can it continue to run at a loss for ever? Or it has prospects and opportunity to improve? Like most new companies it may need time to find its footing. Kaiser Co. of US operated Valco with the same power incentives pocketing all the profit. When parliament wanted to increase the tarrifs it became a problem. Who knows maybe Kaiser Co. forsaw the difficulty ahead hence its reluctance. The solution to the issue is more power sources for the economy. When this happens some energy companies may strike a deal with Valco to aviod putting its consuming power cost on the poor Ghanaian.

CONT'D PLS: re Nyinahini brought on board, (just as Bui Dam), not only will it provide jobs at the Nyinahini area but could make VALCO more viable to pay economic rent for power consumed.
