Numerous new coal plants are being built even in these days. I have not heard coal is history.

Coal is not history you are correct, but it is still extremely dangerous, and filthy. New technologies have not mitigated this. Coal always leads to thousands of annual respiratory deaths, unlike nuclear power.

Go to China and see the pollution, people are going to their grave every minute of the day because of pollution. In the 21st century a clueless Ghana government is allowing coal fired plant in Ghana? We really have a BIG problem in Ghana due to the lack of leadership in the country nowadays. Sixty years ago, a real leader, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah built VALCO to be powered by electricity and, now, we have leaders who do not love Ghana but how to make themselves rich by collecting bribes and allowing the unthinkable to happen in Ghana.

If the government really gives the go ahead for the construction of this coal fired plant, I hope all Ghanaians (NPP, NDC, CPP, PPP, PNP, etc.) will stop insulting each other and go on a massive demonstration throughout the country and force the government to stop the project, otherwise, very soon, your children and grandchildren will be dropping dead from pollution, because I know there will be no control on the exhaust from this plant by a corrupt Ghana government; getting kickbacks from the plant operators. GOD HAVE MERCY ON GHANA.

There is gas nowadays in Ghana, as a byproduct of the oil drilling in the country. Why not harness some of this gas to fire the power plant instead of using coal?

What do we have to loose? whether we contribute to it or not it's here. Every serious nation that is rapidly developing have coal as part of the cocktail in cheap energy producing.

Ghana has that comparative advantage therefore whatever studies that has been done on that project and it viability, I think that relying on others to supply the raw material at the point in time would not be the best. Let us harness the sun energy which is in abundance. WHAT DO YOU THINK???????

Coal has the most carbon footprint and the most unclean source of energy. They have already laid waste to our countryside with their galamsey, should we allow them to pollute our atmosphere as well. We should not let these greedy,irresponsible Chinese to pollute our climate like they have done to theirs in Beijing and other major Chinese cities. Their cities are the most polluted in the world due to their coal plants. Coal has no place in this 21st century. EPA please advise the government against this.
