    Numerous new coal plants are being built even in these days. I have not heard coal is history.
    New technologies are being used to minimize the environmental impact as well as efficiency

    Coal is not history you are correct, but it is still extremely dangerous, and filthy. New technologies have not mitigated this. Coal always leads to thousands of annual respiratory deaths, unlike nuclear power.

    There is gas nowadays in Ghana, as a byproduct of the oil drilling in the country. Why not harness some of this gas to fire the power plant instead of using coal?

    Oboma has side with the tree lovers and closing most coal plants or require multi-million dollar upgrades..So most plants are changed to natural gas!
