Training and capacity building is a tool to alleviating poverty. My concern is that, the article presented here portrays that the project ends after the training. But it is one thing being trained and another applying the skills or knowledge acquired. If indeed the funds end at the training stage, then I would say that the funds awarded are too much irrespective of the composition of the training and that the activities would not provide value for money and will not be sustainable. However, if the package includes the provisions of basic start-up resources which would be strictly monitored over a period to ensure that every beneficiary is putting the skills to use, then can we be sure that some results will be achieved as an addition to the strategies of alleviating poverty and growing the Ghanaian economy.
