Surely, there is something wrong with this system.
There should be a way for Ghanaians to put government and its agencies before court to demand of them good behaviour. For far too long we have been made to believe that one cannot take gov't or its agencies to court and win. This has given rise to misbehavoiur of these institutions much to the disadvantage of ordinary citizens. Imagine ECG asking for increment in tarrifs while gov't owes 'all' the amount expected of the tarrifs. Should the ordinary consumer be made to pay for the inefficncies of the system. I gather the amount quoted here could be much more than what ordinary consumres owe. But for them, the ECG could bully them into paying buy discnnecting them from power. Why can.t it do same to the seat of governance and its agencies?
The PURC must wait until gov't and its agencies pay ALL their debts before approving any increment being demanded by CEG.

pepeni after appointing mainly his alajih incompetent idiots is again lying saying winner takes all is unfortunate , the hypocrisy is unbelievable and very insulting. he is leading Ghana on a roller-coaster straight to war and ethnic hatred that will never end . even the security agencies of the world see this and have advisd their govt to enforce strict immigration terms for our people since they dont want millions of refugees on their doorsteps . these pepefuo are destroying everything and instead of talking of a decentralized govt or federation they continue to finalize on their plans of the colonization of the Akans by appointing people who are not from the areas to be in charge . the only way forward is a govt of the people and by the people so let it be known who is responsible for this mess

Upon all this, you are asking the poor citizens who can't even afford rent payment and food to pay more.

Have you heard any institution mention government as a debtor? Or, in the case of ECG and Ghana Water, disconnecting the Castle (now Flagstaff house) for indebtedness; or taking gov't to court?
They dare not! And there lies our woes for which we should find ways to remedy.

Currently, losses at ECG stands @ 23% and about 40% are debts owed by govt & allied agencies making a whopping 63% of uncollected revenue. We the poor citizens(27%) are paying for what ideally 100% should have been paying and as if its not enough for these insensitive govt/utility providers, they are demanding 166% increase again from these poor 27% where me & u belong. Additionally out of what the poor 27% masses are paying only 20% is used for maintenance by ECG, a further 60% as salaries & emoluments by themselves and only God knows whats happens to the last 20%(ALLOTEY JACOBS BOARD MEMBERS???)...I WEEP 4 THIS COUNTRY as a struggling young man

So the world bank has access to payment records? So the depute minister agree to non payments on the behalf of the government ? Oh very sad Ghana I bet the world bank has a part time person worked on the data compilation over lunch and Ghana can not compile her own data with 1453 full time staff. This is the staff who are being paid an arm and a leg to do nothing. They come in at 10:00 am and leave at 3:00 pm with a 2 hr lunch in between including some afternoon jumps. Instead of the government living up to its responsibilities, it wants to shed it to the public by increasing tariffs Just as it has shed its responsibilities everywhere. Parents are now asked to build classrooms and dormitories for the secondary schools through illegal PTA Dues. The government must pay its debt to the ECG as soon as possible so they can give us a more efficient, reliable energy for less. Regarding government health facilities like hospitals, it is again the governments responsibility to pay their utility bills. Wake up government. ECG must also come public with it.
