Man arrested in Offinso with human skull

The police from the Buffalo Unit in Kumasi have arrested a man in possession of a human skull in Offinso in the Ashanti Region.

Many people rushed to the Kumasi Central Police Station in the afternoon of yesterday to catch a glimpse of the man when they heard about his arrest.

The suspect, Agyemang Duah, was undergoing questioning by the police in Kumasi at the time of going to press.

However, the Daily Graphic gathered from a reliable source that the man had claimed that he was sending the skull to a Mallam in Kumasi, but the name of the said Mallam is yet to be known.

The suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, surprisingly insisted he was 16.

The human skull, which was in a sack, is now in the custody of the police pending further investigations.

According to the source, Agyemang Duah, a native of Tetrem, near Offinso, was arrested following a tip off while he was preparing to travel to Kumasi.

The British government gave its reasons for imposing the £3,000 bond deposit on citizens of countries whose citizens were tagged for the new exercise........those whose citizens tend to overstay their visa. Nothing more nothing less. Instead of this Anita marshaling her government to protest the new order, she has found it expedient to play political blame game, as if that will bring them votes. It is your corrupt government's economic mismanagement that is and has been producing these would-be visa over-stays who are trying to run away from Ghana. If you look critically, you will realize overwhelming majority of Ghanaians left and continue to leave Ghana during P-NDC misrule eras.

Your highly incompetent and corrupt NDC is back producing once again thousands of will-be economic refugees as a result of their economic mismanagement. Why is it that anything Ms Desosso says these days seems to lack common sense? So what has she to say about India, Bangladesh, Nigeria and other countries included in the list? For the record, this UK government along with many other European governments are going through serious economic crises and like Thatcher during her time, they come out with silly immigration policies which have nothing to do with the country's economic woes.

I expect the Ghana government to robustly challenge this discriminatory act and perhaps threaten their own sanctions like India has done if Cameron's government does not reverse this silly rule. Because they have problems with fringe parties like the BNP and UKIP and think they will lose the next elections, they are trying everything just to hold on to power.

In a rather funny twist, the so-called NPP-UK are as toothless as can be and should be the ones arguing in the UK against these things. In fact, these are the policies they should be demonstrating about, not against the president of Ghana.

How are second rate citizens like Rockson Adofo going to react to this? They are busy bashing Ghana and the government when in their own domicile, draconian rules about immigration are passed without fanfare from them.

That said, I think Ms Desosso is once again bang out of order and should learn to control her utterances for her own good.

Incidentally, some if not most look and present with dodgy stuff that distantly connote certain unsettled immigrant characteristics. So, there you go, it is not just Ghanaians but about we the ones with shady stuffs like in the case of some Indians, Pakistanis and Nigerians. Ms Desosso might not be right but her views require honest reflection. May be she was rather too bullish about what looks like an unsavoury news for fellow countrymen. My disgust is that Ghana is a sovereign nation and under no circumstance should NPP people be parading the corridors of Number 10 as though we are under some sort of colonial rule. Put bluntly, Ashantis need to learn how to talk less and be diligently nationalistic.

Ignorance. This policy was first raised in March 2013. What they are saying is that generally they issued 290,000 visitors visas last year. Ghanaians and some other nationals often say we are going for 4 weeks to UK for a holiday. After 6 months some tend to disappear into the system. They are therefore considered high risk of absconding.

To give such overstayers an incentive to return, from November, they will ask for a deposit of £3,000 per adult over18 years old. The problem is that it will probably backfire. They will forfeit that money if they overstay and hopefully it will be used to track and deport them.

Anita lacks basic education and common sense. She has failed to grasp the issues. The demo was a peaceful one. That same week, others were demonstrating who faced no sanctions. Many of those demonstrating have settled here and have acquired citizenship.

Some of us need free SHS to help us understand what is going on.
