The problem is these corrupt officials would metamorphose into consultants and background owners of these private enterpreneurs and introduce all sorts of crooks as investors. I like your optimism about this $3b chinese loan, if you really believe this will materialise anytime soon, then you will believe pigs can fly. There is no way the Chinks will disburse this loan especially with the SC case still pending. It's been almost 4 years remember. They are not stupid and desperate to lend to Ghana you know.
If we as a country are struggling to source approx $700m for such a massive project which will yield good returns, then we deserve to be called a 3rd world country with 3rd world leaders. The waste in the system is just mind boggling. The boards of all these massive projects are packed with party people who know jack sh**! If we have the likes of Asiedu Nketia sitting on the board of Bui dam which is possibly the same situation with the Gas project board, then what else do you expect?? Just brace yourself for more project halts.

How can we count on the Chinese funding in a project as important as this. We know from the past that the Chinese and other Asian governments and banks are not reliable. A case in point is the STX fiasco. In any case, one would expect that in planning for a project as important as this, at least we would have plan B funding already lined up so that in case the Chinese falls through the cracks. This is common sense and it is about time we do our due diligence well in all future projects planning and execution. Am I wrong

No wonder! We have a gov't that blesses corruption and thievery, a gov't that closes its eyes to inner-circle members 'defaecating' in its 'living-room'. What else can we expect from a gov't that only banks its hope of dev't on China giving it a huge chunk of monies with shaddy agreements? Thanks to the vigilance and persistence of the Minority in Parliament. It's a shame, a big shame on gov't.

The project delay is due to the padding of the project cost by the band of thieves of Yankey , Kwesi Botwey and the Maryland post man turned Minister of Energy in association with their agent in Houston. They inflated the price of the project by over 30% and engaged in shady land deals by locating the plant on land they owned through surrogates and sold to the gas company at above market price. Any new monies will go into the pockets of these greedy bastards.
