Defence minister flown out

The Minister for Defence, Mark Owen Woyongo, has been flown to an undisclosed country after suffering from a debilitating ailment which had afflicted him or some time now.

His situation worsened two weeks ago while at work, following which he was first rushed to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, to be stabilized, according to a source. With his situation still grave, the minister was eventually flown out of the country for further attention. He is said to recuperating. His associated and others claimed he had not been feeling well for some time now; a situation which slowed him down for his initial show of hardwork at his new portfolio.

Until he became bed-ridden, he visited a number of military formations across the country and engaged with officers and men at durbars. Information has it that he might undergo a surgical procedure to restore his health before his eventual return home.

Mr. Woyongo is the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central in the Upper East Region and was one time Minister for the Upper East Region. He assumed his present position when President Mahama made his first batch of political appointments following last year’s election.
