Dan Botwe, you and your people should take the lead and develop the place, protect the forest and get visitors to the Aburi Botanical gardern to visit Abiriw Waterfalls. Put up good signboards to attract visitors who must pay a token fee. Develop good postcards/T-shirts etc
But first the MP must draw the attention of the Ministry to the potholes on the Ayi Mensah, Abur, Akrompong road, they are getting bigger by the day. Good l;uck.

I suggest, modern hotel that has lots of activities like swimming pools, restaurants, vegetable market,a day care centre,music/entertainment center and even a zoo, could be something they should think about around the ABRIW WATERFALLS enviroment.
Of course, the road to that venue should be pronouce.
Bill Boards would help a lot, just like MR.KWAKU BOATENG is saying.
We should all pray for the discerning investors to take up the challenge to help uplift ABRIW.

Ghanaians still think that Ghana is a place to visit and that they can encourage tourism in the country. That is far from the truth. The physical environment in which we live is so unhealthy and filthy that few people would dare step in Ghana to tour. Our streets are choked with filth and dirt and nothing seems to be right. Even as a citizen I am not very proud of my country after 50 years of the so-called independence. There is no sense of direction as far as the country is concerned. Our drainage system is bad and the drains are chocked up. Even the villages are worse off, There is liter everywhere as if ewe are not decent human beings. We wake up wash ourselves and dress well only to find our surroundings very dirty. What type of country is this? Gone are the days when people from the town council would inspect people's houses to make sure the surroundings are neat and clean. Everyplace is like Nima why? what is the function of the government?. It is disheartening to see people urinating and shitting everywhere and we still think we are the most civilized people in Africa. If you are a white would come to see this filth? The air itself stinks everywhere and it is hard to have any appetite to eat. We can do better, Let us employ our youth and give them the necessary wages to keep the country neat and clean and educate ourselves in keeping our environment in a hygienic condition. The person coming is interested in making money and then leave the country. It is so appalling to still think that "yeni abue". We can be better than this.

SETH, you have spoken like a person who understand our problems as a people.
Does Dan Botwe and the people of Abiriw understand what attracts tourists to a place? Looking at the picture above, this water falls cannot be considered a tourist attraction. Listen to the queen mother pledging 20 bags of cement to construct walls around the waterfalls.
Kwame Nkrumah established a State Tourism Board to promote tourism in Ghana way back in the 1960s.There has to be a comprehensive plan to promote tourism included in the national development agenda of the nation. Tourism is a money making venture promoted by the government or each city where the particular tourist attraction is located.
Ghana cannot move forward if we do not transform the Ghanaian through an ideological education. Without that we will never see the beauty in anything to preserve and improve it.I will not be surprised if the local people are not even taking a swim in the waterfalls. We are a backward people. It will take a very long time for us to accomplish much if anything at all.
I have traveled to places like Costa Rica and the rain forest itself is a tourist attraction. It starts with the leadership of the nation. If they are clueless, then the body will be rotten as well.

Promotion of Tourism is not by way of just talking but rather, the said tourist sits must go under some sort of development, such as good linking roads, yes, clean environments, construction of Motel or Hotel, and properly and well organized area. Am sure you do get the picture, the truth of the matter is, the main course of most visitors coming to Ghana is making some money and that is it.

Well said,.....people urinating and shitting everywhere and we still think we are the most civilized people in Africa...I love your statement. I've told myself over and over again that something isn't right about the way Ghanaians conduct themselves. In the same breath I again tell myself that can all the 25 million people in Ghana be wrong? It was when I traveled to north America that I realized that truly we have a problem in Ghana. How much does it take to fix the sanitation problems we have in our country? Look at Accra, posters of events everywhere even on the walls of overpass, light posts etc. Surprisingly, the mayor was based in the US before his appointment. There is something called 'best practice.' That is why when you visit a neighbor and find out that he has fixed his home in a way that is admirable you quickly do the same or even better when you get back home, sometimes it does not involve money but mere common sense. That is how humans behave. Can we safely say our leaders are subhu..n or they are just not right for us.
