What good does this do to the ordinary Ghanaian? We boast of Cocoa, gold diamonds, bauxite, manganese, timber, oil, gas, tourism, brain power but most people are wallowing in poverty. It’s only a few well-placed people who are living like human beings. Mother Nature has blessed our land with humongous natural resources but our leaders have created a mendicant society. What a shame.

What does it do to the ordinary Ghanaian? Not much because most of our exports are primary products exported raw and not finished manufactured goods. It does not matter how much oil or bauxite is our land if we don't develop the most critical resource-the human resource. You cannot compare someone who digs stuff of the land and someone with highly developed intellectual property. Its like comparing a pr school dropout wit a PHD holder.

Is not interesting that people still hide behind technical garbage to justify a travesty that has bedeviled us since independence? There is no nation under this sun that can claim self-sufficiency in all aspects of development. One may ask, why do we still lack the sophisticated manpower that Agyemang is talking about after fifty years of independence? The answer is simple. CORRUPTION AND LACK OF LEADERSHIP from our so-called politicians. Compare Ghana to Malaysia and Nigeria to Qatar and one could easily come up with answers. My suspicion is that Agyemang is one of those very few who benefited from the venal system that has prevailed since independence hence his rush to defend a corrupt orthodoxy. Ingrid Betancourt’s locution; “They always had good excuses to msake themselves have a clear conscience” is very much the case here.

THAT'S WHY THEY DO NOT SEE THE NEED TO DEVELOP GHANA.

You lot never stop complaining, it is for you or me or other Ghanaians who should add value to our raw materials. We have neither the capital nor the technology to do so. We expect the foreign companies who have the know how and who risk their capital to share with us. Why should they? Would any of you share a business you have set up? It is this hypocrisy which is too common amongst Ghanaians. Others should do it and we should share. We all say " we have found oil" We found nothing, oil was found by foreigners who risked capital and had the know how to find the oil. We should just shut up and try and learn, but we never learn because we are lazy and selfish, otherwise why is the country the way it is after 56 years of sovereignty? The quality of our leaders reflects the society. We are greedy, selfish and prefer to do as little as possible but for maximum pay. We expect of others what we will not do ourselves.
