I personally don't find anything wrong with what this Doctor is proposing. After all it is going to be an elective. Several foreign languages exist in US University curriculum. Nobody ever forces you to speak or study any language, like the Akans try to do in Ghana. No wonder they are all hyperventilating. Many many times I have said that all these Akan hypoctites will start singing a different song if all their irrational arguments of Akan being forced down the throats of non-Akan Ghanaians was replaced with another foreign language, because simple and short, Akan is foreign to a Hausa, Ewe, Ga, Krobo or Nzema citizen. PERIOD! Ghanaians are incredible people, they are extremely adventurous with other peoples language and culture, so you will find thousands of Ghanaians who can already speak Chinese and many other strange languages, but you will seldom find an Akan citizen of Ghana who will proudly claim to speak eloquent Ga, Ewe or Hausa TODAY! Back in the 60's and 70's, everybody in Accra spoke Ga, until the coming of the...(you know who).

I disagree because China is America's biggest trade partner and I can assure u there more Chinese in USA than any other country on earth but they(USA) don't een teach the Chinese language at a higher level nor pay much attention to learn the language. Don't get me wrong some colleges in the US have it in their course program though.
We need to pay more attention to our own people who can not even write their mother-tongue. It's a shame.
