The distance is 300 metres buffer zone along the lake and NOT 100 feet and people have built close to 100 metres from the lake. Still how can people put houses just 100 metres from the lake?

Those who have built structures in unauthorized areas, should not be compensated. Ghanaians are fond of disrespecting laws when it comes to unauthorized building. According to Ghana Water Company, the waterway is being hampered by buildings which are not supposed to be there and releasing the excess water will by no means, caused havoc and untold hardship.
Those living in such areas, need no compensation and must bear whatever cost that come their way.

I realise these people broke the rules but sometimes people go to extremes to survive, perhaps they could only afford to squat illegally. We need more affordable housing in this country
