Very good article. You correctly identified most of the issues but we need policies and effective implementation of those policies to get where we need to go.
One of our major weakness is the monitoring and accurate measurement of our economic model to enable us to gain the insight needed to effectively make the needed adjustments to give us the outcomes we require.
If you look at the way budgets are prepared, you don't get the feeling the government has a clear strategy in mind. When a whole finance minister is saying he could not predict labour costs and contracts payments,(his reasons why he can't pay doctors and contractors) then you should not be surprised when he does not have any coherent policy and measuring system in place to gel the various industries.
Nkrumah did not do anything for Ghana himself, but he provided the leadership for us to develop at a very fast rate at a time when most of us were not educated.I feel the Ghanaian is now better equipped to develop himself and create industries which can compete with any nation in the world but without the government leadership,we can't get very far.
The writer has clearly identified most of our problems but where are the solutions? A government cannot simply hope itself to success, it must take concrete steps to tackle these issues in a holistic manner.
A complete model must be made and corrected immediately somethings goes wrong, but like I said earlier, a government which cannot predict staff cost should not be expected to tackle the issues mentioned in this brilliant article.

Ghanaians will patronize even shit if well packaged and comes from anywhere else but Ghana. Our Governments have turned us into scavengers, consuming the shit the rest of the world don't need. No wonder we succumb to the slightest illness because of the shit that we consume. We cannot even manufacture matches and we are not ashamed.
