  The reason why people smuggle in car is very simple, the high duties and taxes are to blamed. reduce these high taxes and duties and smuggling vehicles would stop.

  You and I know very well that the importer of this luxury automobile does not have the intention of paying any duty whatsoever if he could get away from doing so. But I mean why should a well-healed individual,who has enough money to purchase any such 'machine' engage in tax evasion manoeuvres - declaring such luxury import as an item in transit in the first place? The troublem I have with this 'new man' on the block is that, it is the corrupt official at the port of entry who usually helps the smuggler in evading the payment of the required duties. This what has enabled many of these unsrupulous public servants to become filthy rich,after ony a couple of years on the job!
